  1. I just wish he was as good as he thinks he is.

In all seriousness, I'd take a flyer as long as it doesn't affect the comp picks. If we can snag a field stretcher in the draft, it would open up the intermediate range for Crabtree. He never really had that advantage in SF. I'm not the biggest fan of the guy but I'd take him, especially since out WR group now isn't looking too hot.

Yea the draft should be a good indicator on how we guage the Crabtree situation obviously time will also tell..personally I feel like once Crabtree gets over his ego and drops his price down someone will probably sign him. But its nice to see the Ravens showing some interest in him, and feel like he could make a solid compliment to our receiving corps hopefully for a good price.

  2. But what if they don't? I mean, remember when we expected Jacoby and Torrey to just replace Boldin with no real contingency plan if neither did step up? It was actually more like Torrey had to replace Boldin and then Jacoby had to replace Torrey, which wasn't happening and the front office had no backup plan if it didn't work.

The front office this past season just banked on Chykie Brown and Asa Jackson replacing Corey Graham, which was a huge mistake.

Sure, sometimes it does work out (Pitta/Dickson replacing Heath, Wagner replacing Oher), but you just cannot bank on it with skill positions like receiver or cornerback with no contingency plan.

I think with Steve Smith on hand, Marlon Brown who produced well when given opportunities as well as a Welker Jr in Campanero who I remember making a few big plays last year and Kamar Aiken flashed some skill last year too. Behind Smith and a solid running game if worse came to worst we could just work with what we have.

However I would be very surprised if Ozzie didn't draft a WR given a chance to get a solid one early on in the draft. The last time we invested highly on WR in the draft was 4 years ago when we took Torrey Smith in the 2nd round. Im not sure if Ozzie will ever draft a WR in the first round again since its been 10 years since hes pulled the trigger...but I feel like rounds 2-4 will be his target range. My guess is Ozzie will trade up some where to get a WR he likes between rounds 2-4.

I also feel like there may be a few free agent WR or CB out there Ozzie is waiting on to bite the bullet on.

  3. I always wonder when we might throw in a new uniform or if we might bring back the retro 90s jerseys.

I wouldn't mind our guys rocking a remastered version of those classic unis or even a possible all purple uniform by adding some purple with black striped pants or something.

We already have arguably the sickest most epic uniforms in the league and of all time though with the savage Purple black and white options, so not sure when we will think about changing/adding uniform options.

  4. I think we need to realize that they like our WRs more than we think they do. Why waste the salary cap space on a guy like Nicks who doesn't offer us more than Brown, Aiken, Butler or Camp do. At this point I would consider Bowe (even though he could be a Brown by days end) or Jennings, but I wouldn't be heart broken if we didn't get them. Get the sense of how things are going this free agency, we are linked to player, most likely bc they want to play for a winning team, then we don't get that guy bc the bad teams swoop in and pile on the money until they agree to come play for them. I.E. Tramon Williams 3 yr 21 mil contract. We need to stick to our guns, use the draft picks we have and zero in on OUR guy at WR hopefully in the first round.

Honestly I could feel 100% content if we went with Steve Smith, Marlon, Campanero, Aiken and a possible early round draft pick.

Unless Ozzie has something up his sleeve or wants to continue evaluating the WR market, he might have a few receivers on the big board in mind instead.

  5. Healthy Crabtree > Torrey

Not saying that out of bitterness or spite, that's always been my honest opinion. Crab is more well rounded and much more effective underneath while still bringing some big play ability down the field. The keyword though is healthy, I'm not sure to what extent Crabtree is still being affected by the ACL. Would love to have him here if we feel good about his rehab and progress from last year.. not sure what his market value is however.

Healthy Hakeem Nicks >>>>>>Crabtree and Torrey and is cheaper

  6. Lol if the Ravens are interested they must be pretty good. Lets overpay

Ozzie is a "price is right" guy. Puts his bid out there and leaves it up to the player to decide if they want to win a Superbowl in 2015 because the Ravens are going to do just that...haha

  7. not losing sleep over either..actually there really isn't any free agent right now that i really think is going to do anything for this team. just nail the draft and find some post june cuts

If Ozzie is interested in em. .so am I. Although not sure if he was looking at Shorts. And I don't lose sleep either, bc I know we have provably the best possible GM and FO making decisions for us who will do everything humanly possible to forge the most talented 53 man squad.

    Just gotta have faith.

  8. At his age? I thought Webb was younger than Williams no?

Yea Webb will be 30 in October and Williams just turned 32.

I guess my point was that Williams has a slight edge on Webb as an outside CB and obviously due to Webb getting older and sustaining the injuries he has sustained his coverage skill has declined.

Williams is a vet but is always an asset when he is on the field. With him and Jimmy on the outside Webb at the nickel and a potential early pick on a CB we could be much improved next year.

  9. Finally. I'll get a link in a minute, but the Ravens are showing interest in Tramon Williams

Hell Yea! just read it too apparently he might come for cheaper than he wants after leaving his previous visits. After losing out on Perish Cox I feel we might push hard for Williams, and Williams is the superior CB IMO he could man the outside and give us the chance to move Webb to the nickel permanently as he can't cover outside WR at his age anymore.

Hoping and praying for this signing to go through.

  10. WilFork didn't like Houston , were one step closer

We are looking into CB Tramon Williams at the moment. Despite his visits he still has yet to make a decision. I'd rather invest $3-5M per year on Williams than the aged Wilfork.

Although I'm not sure how much Wilfork is asking for per year...he is nothing more than a run stuffer. And I feel solid about Brandon Williams and Jernigan manning the d-line.

Wouldnt mind a Wilfork signing but it seems like we are pushing hard for a reguvinated secondary so Tramon Williams would be the higher priority

  11. People calling for us to trade Elam are probably the same people that asked for us to trade Jimmy back before the 2013 season.

Its just hard to fathom anytime you invest a high pick on a guy and they go through a few rough years of development and getting benched and what not. But you have to hope that's exactly what is happening and what is needed...development.

IMO its all on Elam whether he can make that push. He needs to buckle down and do everything possible this offseason to try and make the improvements he needs to become that ace we drafted him to be. His leash is most definitely getting shorter and shorter though.

  12. He played decent last year, he's definitely an improvement to Stewart/Miles/Elam. He led the Texans in tackles, which is something we really needed improvement with. Being optimistic helps too! I'm excited for this signing

I see this as the exact reason we signed him, to be a solid complimentary piece and potential starter who is an improvement over Stewart and Miles.

Realistically we would all like to see Matt Elam take a big step forward in 2015 and be the starter we used a 1st on so hopefully he works hard this year and strives toward improvement.

Terrence Brooks could be a solid piece to the puzzle too once he's healthy.

  13. Nope

not worth it..at this stage of his career

He still has plenty in the tank and probably won't even be on our radar because he will likely be too expensive. Posting 2 solid seasons under multiple shaky QBs he could be a solid reliable slot WR who can move all around the formation. For us he would be a reliable chain moving target similar to Derrick Mason and the occasional deep threat/ red zone threat.

And FYI Jennings is a Brett Favre product after being selected as a 2nd rd pick. He played exceptional with Favre, Rodgers and even multiple young and shaky QBs for the Vikes. He would definitely boost our receiving corps if he comes for a decent price.

  14. Aren't we giving up on Elam too quickly? I thought Jimmy was a bust for a really long time and now I'm praying we manage to keep him.

Agreed. I feel like Elam has 1 or 2 more seasons before being labeled as a complete bust. It will be nice to see some solid progressions next season but I'm sure we will let him play out his contract and see how it goes. Hopefully he works a lot harder this year.

And Im still a little worried about Jimmy Smith...not in his ability when he is healthy he is a stud. Its just his health has always been a problem and he is coming off a tough injury. Hopefully he will still be able to play at the same level and stay healthy. If not hopefully at the very least we can use his injury problems to warrant a cheaper contract. If we let him hit the open market next year he is likely a goner.
