  1. Sounds like Terrell Suggs will be getting the extension we all wanted for Boldin last year...I can live with that.

Save some money, generate cap space and lock up one of the mount Rushmore Ravens.

And it will be nice to see Suggs grab his 100th sack as a Raven next year if we do extend him.

  2. I HAD NOT HEARD THIS...  I knew that he was no longer on NFL Network, but had not been following stories as to why...  Mr. "Pick Magnet"....  WOW....  If this is true, then lock that guy up and throw away the keys.  This is DISGUSTING.

Yea I was very shocked to here about this when it first broke back in January. Darren Sharper definitely seemed like a decent person on NFL network shows and was a very like-able personality. But this is just nuts, I just dont understand as an exNFL star who is still pretty young, how you have to resort to doing this in order to "pick up chicks" for lack of a better phrase haha Quite bizarre.

  3. Darren Sharper former Saints DB and NFL network analyst charged with drugging and raping 2 women in LA (felony charges), bail set at $10M.

Sharper apparently invited two women back to his hotel room and gave them liquid shots of Morphine and Ambien causing them to passout. One women awoke while Sharper was "assaulting" her and the other awoke naked a few hours later.

Sharper is also being investigated in 1 or 2 other incidents where he is being accused of rape as well in Arizona and Nevada, all following the same pattern of drugging them. What a mess.

    Full Story here:  http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2014/02/darren_sharper_charged_with_dr.html

This is a pretty shocking report as before Sharper got fired from NFL network when this story came out a few weeks ago, he seemed like a pretty good, funny, chipper analyst. This could be another Hernandez type of situation.

Matt Zenitz: "No discussions between Eugene Monroe and the #Ravens. Will test the free agent market."

Well, that's no good. He's a guy we should be prioritizing during our exclusive negotiating period. I fear if we let him test the open market, some team will offer him a deal that we can't afford to match. I'd like to think he wants to stay here, but I don't think that's something we can count on. Monroe is the most important FA we have. If we don't re-sign him, the whole scope of our offseason has to change.

Mod note: this has been retracted. Jump to page 2.

Wait until around the combine...I believe talks will heat up around then and we will make our move for him. Im sure our front office is weighing out potential scenarios right now such as whether to sign Monroe or Pitta, evaluating the FA market for other potential targets such as Branden Albert, Andrew Whitworth, or Eric Winston. And if all else fails we could always try and target a top LT in the draft could always trade up.

I think we will retain Monroe, like everyone else mentioned it would be a major disappointment to have "rented" Monroe for 1 season for multiple picks so hopefully our guys are doing everything possible to make sure to lock em up. I do feel that we might have to compromise Dennis Pitta in order to sign Monroe though. If we were to sign both  it would be 2 big contracts worth alot of $.

  5. I know right? Haha.

I don't think there will be a change though. Probably won't get enough support from coaches and players.

Im surprised this is blowing up as much as it is recently. What I think needs to change is overtime rules- either play out the entire quarter or TD wins the game, I hate seeing teams make one or 2 big plays then just kick a FG.

  6. LBJ needs to grow a pair and just do it

I really dont think he would be scared...he has more bounce than anyone and can do pretty much any dunk that he wants. I think he is just lazy and doesnt want to deal with all the hype that would surround it.

Terrence Ross is practically a shoe in to be back defending his title from last year but if they could get Deandre Jordan and Paul George in the mix that would definitely add some spark to a dying competition they really need to start getting bigger names in the mix.

  7. Does anyone know about this years dunk contest? I hear rumors that Stern is actually trying to real in big names going after Paul George, Deandre Jordan, Dwight Howard even though some of them declined. Its one of my favorite times of the year allstar weekend is.

  8. This isn't a "who do you want us to get thread"? Rather a what kind of WR do you think WR should get?

WR is a huge need(duh). But what kind? Some will say possession WR(Boldin esq dude. Matthews, Nicks) Others will say big body WR. (Cooper, Benjamin, Evans, Barden), some will say playmaker(Lee, Watkins, Beckham).

Me? Well what do Manning, Brees, Rodgers, and Brady all have in common.

They have a tough slot WR that will go over the middle and take a hit, but still have the chance to make a big play afterwards.

I think we are missing a little quickie slot WR, and it's obvious Marlon can't be that.

I may have us getting Beckham Jr, but I'm also an advocate for us getting a Hawkins, a Brandin Cooks. A little out WR.

Hopefully we can nab a cheap FA..someone like Julian Edelman would be perfect.

I could also see James Jones thrive in our offense, he is a playmaker with some talent.

Then look to attack the draft hard for receivers: Mike Evans, Marqise Lee, or Jace Amaro with our 1st pick.

  9. Yes it does. We are still running Cam's offense.

We need a new system entirely.

EXACTLY!!!! Its been the same boring vanilla, run first offense that Cam Cameron installed 6 seasons ago...its time we go pass happy and install a new system that will allow our 120mill QB to show his true colors and ultimately benfit way more from it.

New Offense: New system, new coordinator, new WRs, TEs, and o-line

  10. Its going to be tough for Pitta though...although he does not have the stats to back it up he is a great receiver and a lot of teams like New England especially could go after him hard. Shooot if Jared Cook could get a $35M contract who knows what Pitta could get, I just hope he takes a hometown discount.

  11.

I was doing some research into how much work Dennis Pitta could get for the game against the Detroit Lions, and I stumbled across his career stats. I saw them and at first I thought it was a joke. His career stats are really pedestrian, nothing to write home about. Now, I have no doubt that he could have developed into a great pass catching tight end had he not been injured, but he was and it derailed him from getting going.

I see a lot of people who are worried about resigning Pitta, but honestly, I'm not too worried. Those stats are going to be brought up in negotiations, and they clearly favor the Ravens. The injury will also likely be in the Ravens favor. I could easily see the Ravens resigning Pitta, and I do not think it will be a mega-contract.

    What do you think?

Franchise tag... then perhaps 5 years $25M

  12. Lol you're so off base. Joe is making less than 7 million this year. As far as the upcoming season goes, how the hell is that robbing Q and overpaying Joe? If Q makes the salary he is under contract for, they will make the same amount this season.

    Good try! Play again?

Haha yea coming from one of the biggest Flacco bashers on here too...clueless

  13. I agree. Ravens had a nice balance with speed and possession. I really don't wanna be loaded with speed guys. Q was the guy that could go up and pull it down and even if he was "slow," he had 100 yard games.

Im worried about Jacoby Jones now, when he was a #2 receiver in Houston he really wasnt too productive. He really benefits from having 2 other good receivers along side him. We need to add another good replacment to balance everything back out if we lose Boldin

  14. Some people think it's all about speed. Anquan Boldin was our go to guy, he is like the Heap/Mason role on this team.

Not doubting anyone's ability but our WR Corps would be downgraded by releasing him by a large margin if we go to a David Reed or Tandon Doss.

The greatest WR of all time ran a 4.71 40 yard dash, if you have great hands and ball skills I'll take that over speed every day of the week. And Boldin still makes big 30-40 yard catches and puts up 100yds a game. He will most definitely be hard to replace.

  15. We all new this was going to happen...no surprise here Anquan Boldin is going to get released. I think Boldin will allow other teams to contact him based on his agents comments and I think all in all he may just end up retiring.

After releasing Boldin we will go after Dennelle Ellerbe and Ed Reed...and may have a hard time retaining them it looks like they both will hit the free agent market where they are very sought after as well.

Hopefully we can atleast retain Ed Reed, Dennelle Ellerbe and maybe Bryant Mckinnie. After the Ravens do release Boldin we should have close to 20M in cap space freed up so we can make legitament trials at all our FAs except for the uber expensive ones.

I think once we sift through our FAs and keep the important ones, I think we will go after Anquan Boldin to see if we can resign him aslong as he wants to keep playing football. If for some reason he retires I think we draft another receiver as we did in 2011...in the 2nd round then go with Torrey, Jacoby, Doss "new guy" and have open competition in training camp. Maybe even sign a cheap FA WR.
