I saw a motivated Dwight help carry the Magic to the Finals back in 2009. I always knew he was a great player with a very hard work ethic. I just didn't like seeing him become the selfish player he did in Orlando when contract talks came around. Your right that he didn't want to go to LA but he certainly didn't want to stay in Orlando either. He seemed to turn into a more depressed and different person during that time somewhat of a headcase in the locker room....although a trip to a terrible team like LA should do that to anyone haha.
Its nice to see him finally content and settling in with a good team like the Rockets. He fits well there, playing much better and like I have mentioned before the Rockets could be that team to upset the West and Dwight has had success in that position before.
Unless Ozzie gets a safety in FA, we might get stuck with Clinton-Dix. Nothing like a Bama Bust, eh?
Nooooo.....
I only ever hear news relating back to the Packers with him. I should have figured the Patriots and Chiefs would.
For a couple of the teams named, I can't imagine his role would be much bigger than here
Just the Steelers maybe..all other mentioned he would either be a starter or in the Pats case they could revert to using 2 TE sets like they used to with Gronk and Hernandez.
What teams have shown interest
If the Packers can't resign him....Jets, Seahawks, Giants, Chiefs, Steelers, and Patriots have shown interest. He is the best TE available and recovering well from his injury, he is expected to get medical clearance within the next 2 weeks.
If we are talking running backs my dark horse Raven is James Starks. He has shown the ability to make big runs against good Ds and could be a good backup to Bernard Pierce if Ray Rice should get suspended.
If we go the veteran route...Ronnie Brown. Cheap, great pass protector, has a versatile skill set being able to catch out of the backfield, move the chains, and score on the goal line.
What would you all think of Jermichael Finley? He'd likely be cheap due to his injuries and drops, and it'd be a one year deal, but Kubiak loves tight ends. It'd be like having two Pitta's, sorta, but it would be a thought to float around
First of all he isn't going to be cheap considering all the teams showing interest, even if he gets a 1-2 year deal it should still be worth $4-5M minimum maybe more. And I dont think he would be open to joining a team only to take the backseat to someone who just got a big payday.. he is a starter not a blocker/reserve TE.
Stevie Brown could be helpful at safety. Did a good job on the Giants last year and has decent ball skill. Dont think he would command a large contract either. Think he could do just as good a job as Clemons at a lower price.
I think Stevie Brown is better than Chris Clemons. He had a tremendous year in 2012 before tearing his ACL last preseason. He has been in active talks with the Giants though and it seems he will be resigned. If for some reason he hits the market though he would be the best FS for us to target IMO based off of the skill to price ratio. Chris Clemons just isn't a difference maker that Brown is and as Ravens fans we all know thats what we need.
Howard has been playing fantastic as of late. He just doesn't get the recognition for it anymore.
I have been a Howard fan ever since his days in Orlando...fun guy to watch, although he got on my bad side through all the trade talk and selfishness antics once he became bigtime. But still respect him... he has developed from a raw skinny center into one of the strongest most skilled bigs in the game. Rockets could be a dark horse to win the west.
Some truly epic wins for the Rockets this week. First over the Heat, then blowing out the Pacers handing them their biggest loss of the season and then a great comeback and OT win over the Blazers tonight. Harden haters rejoice!
I watched that game against the Pacers and the ting that surprised me even more than Harden going off was Roy Hibbert getting dominated in the post by Dwight. Hibbert needs to get back into playoff mode.
Those two are pretty dominant though lol.
And funny enough they both are on losing streaks...must be the drinking water or something.
I hope the Wizards smack the Heat tonight...that would be 4 straight in the loss column for the Heat.
I would honestly have problems with both at 17, but if we didn't take Martin there (I see him shifting to guard), I think the Dolphins will take him
I hope it doesn't come to that because like I said it would be a bit of a reach, hopefully we can get Monroe signed but if not fill in a few pieces to our o-line through free agency. There are a few 2nd rounders who would make good starting RTs. Our o-line has such a naked feel to it though-- no OTs, no starting caliber center...Joe Flacco is probably having nightmares already.
I think it's weird how they just drafted lane Johnson with the fourth overall pick, but he'll play right tackle. That's really high for a right tackle
Well the Eagles desperately needed help on that o-line after all the injuries and hell that broke loose the previous season. There are high hopes that Lane Johnson could develop into a LT but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Definitely a reach there as well. Thats why I wouldnt really mind us taking someone like Zach Martin or maybe Morgan Moses at 17 to be our RT...this might end up being a year we HAVE to make that type of move.
Dion Jordan was not going anywhere near the Dolphins pick last year but I agree with everything else you said
Only the Eagles and Browns would have otherwise taken him and I heard the Browns had Barkevious Mingo higher on their board, and as much as Chip Kelly would like to have an Oregon duck on his defense he had to go BPA on Oline. Shoot if teams knew how overrated he truly was he might not even be a 1st rounder. He seems to be all athleticism and no strength or skill. And he will probably ride the bench again this year too unless he gets traded.
All in all it just shows that Miami is getting ready to spend a trillion dollars in free agency like they did last year. Last year they spent $60M on Mike Wallace...and this year they will probably spend 60 more on a LT. All the big money they dropped last year on FAs and they still sucked.
You can't finance a championship using your checkbook. Maybe if they spent more time evaluating draft prospects and less time batting their eye lashes at over priced FAs like a fat kid in a candy store...maybe they could get some where. But they continue to throw money at the wall and fail at drafting players...when you trade up in the draft for someone you could have probably traded back to get....and then try and trade him the following year you know your doing something wrong.
Unfortunately, it's Bleacher Report, which scares me. When some of the top analysts and reporters have been tweeting that Miami is going to go hard after Monroe, I think I'll tend to believe them over BR. It does bring my hopes up a little, though.
The news came from the Miami Herald not BR... seems to be smoke in mirrors given that you assume they will go after the best available LT...but maybe they do like Branden Albert better. They really wanted him last year and he will be cheaper than Monroe.
Well its nice to hear that Eugene Monroe wasn't part of the Dolphins negotiations today. They reached out to the agents/legal representation of Jared Veldheer, Branden Albert, and Rodger Saffold. Albert is their top priority and Monroe would be more of a fall back option....so it seems.
It will be good in the west and unimportant til the conference finals in the east. I hate the Knicks ownership for making me hate basketball. Hoping Melo stays but dont know why he would.
Yea the eastern conference is like a deserted island where only the Heat and Pacers roam the land.
Honestly 10 millions inst that much anymore. the cap could be 160 by 2016
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/07/cap-could-hit-160-million-in-2016/
so it won't be that cumberson a contract.
But Oz is thinking about THIS YEAR. We still have a number of holes besides LT including 2 other pieces on the o-line RT and C. We also could use a WR, another TE, FS, DE, MLB, CB just to name a few. We only have so much cap space this year.
Sometimes this motto is misguided (see: Boldin, Anquan).
Because Ozzie knew defense comes first when remodeling the team...because defense wins championships. Last year was our defensive overhaul and we spent Boldin's money on Elvis Dumervill and Chris Canty. This year its time for offense and we will find a replacement for Boldin. In the back of Ozzie's mind he knows that extra $2 or 3M that a player wants just to be "considered the top paid player" can be used to buy other players where we need them. Maybe we pass on Monroe go with Andrew Collins and use the extra money we saved on Hakeem Nicks.
Although I want us to really push to retain Eugene Monroe Ozzie knows his limits. He usually puts an offer on the table and looks the other way. I would be surprised if he caved and offered Monroe the money he wants.
I have a strange feeling about Portland...its like when Damian Lillard wants them to win...they win. He is becoming a very clutch player and although they don't have many flashy players around him they find ways to win as a team and have some decent coaching. Eager to see what they can do this year come playoff time.
The Rockets seemingly have the makings of a playoff contender too, good backcourt with Howard controlling things in the paint.
Its going to be another good year for NBA playoffs.
Im predicting a San Antonio Pacer finals with San Antonio taking the crown and Timmy going out on top.
I wouldn't sign a RT in free agency. I think there are too many strong options in the mid rounds of the draft to spend money there.
As long as we can sign a LT I would be all for taking a shot on someone in the draft or even a G and transitioning KO to the right side. BUT who knows how things will pan out. I think there are better RT options when the dust settles than LT options. I just hope we can get a deal with Monroe done...Im still holding out hope.
The Ravens are targeting Muddle Through as our next LOT. Muddle Through has been a member of the Ravens for many years and is the right player at the right price. Muddle Through never made a pro bowl but has both youth and experience the Ravens covet. Muddle Through is a versatile player having played DLine, Dback, WR & OLine previously.
Ozzie and John are of one mind when stating, "Muddle Through is an integral part of our strategy going forward & we expect him to be with the Ravens for a long time to come." So Raven Fans, please welcome our newest LT Muddle Through to the team.
Is this some type of Michael Oher joke? Because thats the only player that comes to mind minus the defensive side.
I really miss Johnathan Ogden times were good back then....

I think a better option than Jermichael Finley for us is Garrett Graham. He played in Kubiak's system...played very well last year putting up 50/550/5 line through only 13 games, and he could come for cheap.
