Adam Gase could help boost our passing attack for sure. He is a mastermind at designing plays creating mismatches for receivers. And obviously old man Peyton even with his noodle arm nowadays has excelled in Gase's QB friendly offense. The only area he has been somewhat flawed in is the running game. But according to Elway and Manning the running game has improved.
I think if Gase gets hired he will draw up a plan to keep our offense high powered going into 2015.
Appears that our best case OC scenario will be Adam Gase. Multiple reports have him choosing between Jacksonville or Baltimore...ain't nobody got time for Blake Bortles, obviously we are the better choice. He could be a solid Kubiak replacement.
I really like Mark Trestman and feel like he runs high powered offenses. Now if Trestman could successfully run this system we have I feel like we would consider him. Problem is he will want to run his own style of offense, and I doubt Ozzie and Harbaugh want to install a third style of offense in 2 years. We will probably hire someone familiar with Kubiaks system and look to keep the momentum going. Mike Shannahan, Lane Kiffen, Adam Gase, and Greg Knapp are better suited
Still too early to deem him a full on bust. I'd say if he shows no improvement next season and goes down a similar path of miss tackles, coverages, and getting benched than he will be as close as you can be to the B word.
Rashean Mathis can still play though he graded out as on of the top CBs per PFF and he was a part of one of the best secondaries on the league he really impressed this season.I honestly really want us to make a move for Shorts
And Yea I'd like Cecil Shorts as a potential Torrey Smith replacement should Torrey sign elsewhere.
CB Rashean Mathis
CB Peanut Tillman
CB Cary Williams (if cut)
CB Antonio Cromartie
CB Mike Jenkins
CB Brandon Flowers
WR Cecil Shorts
WR Jarret Boykin
WR Eddie Royal
WR Cole Beasly
WR Denarius Moore
WR Hakeem Nicks
DE Corey Redding
DT BJ Raji
DE Adrian Clayborn
OLB Dwight Freeney
OLB Lance Briggs
I hear you on the KD VS LJ... I still don't think the margin is that great though. KD is a hell of a player and a good bit less experience than James. I'd give the nod to Lebron but not by a whole lot. KD does most things well too
Yea I think KD and Lebron are too different to really compare anyway, Lebron is a team player and KD is a scorer like Kobe.
But I kind of agree with you...id rate KD about a 95 all around and LJ a 98
On some inside info for those who are wondering.
Tim Duncan will not retire and said if he feels like he can still contribute, he'll keep on playing. He was very efficient during the playoffs, so he'll opt in the last year of his contract and probably retire next year. He has a better chance of catching Jordans 6 titles can Kobe does.
Kawhi Leonard winning the finals MVP was probably bitter sweet for him due to him winning it on Fathers Days. His father taught him to work hard and work on always being better. His father ran a car wash and in January of 2008 was shot 10 times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Leonard was the first to know when he had told his mother that has dad was dead.
CBS did a report on him when he was in his 2nd year in college. Sad story.
The Spurs have always been on of my favorite NBA Teams growing up I always loved watching Tim Duncan and the Admiral go to work in the post when they were together...UNSTOPPABLE. I remember watching them win there first title in 99 but really starting to get into them in the 2000s when they rivaled with Detroit. Great coach and a very likable group of guys. Although teams like the Celtics, Heat, and even Nets have tried to have their own "Big three" there is no big three better than Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobli, and Tony Parker IMO.
Hopefully they all return next year and push for a repeat.
could you EVER imagine MJ being taken out of a Finals game, conceding? LOL. NO WAY.
There's being a competitor, and then there's guys like MJ, Tiger, Peyton, Ray Lewis... Etc. L.James is NOT that guy.
And I'm not sure L.JAMES is better than KD .. At least not by much.
Well I thought about that yesterday when Lebron was seen sitting on the sidelines with the Spurs up 20. On one side: it doesn't really matter, the Spurs are dominating and even with Lebrons high level of energy and scoring out there they are still losing by a wide margin. And on the other side: You think what the hell is Spolstra doing? Does game 6 of last year not come to mind? And yea when I saw Lebron on the sideline the FIRST thing that came to mind to me was "Hahaha NO WAY Michael Jordan would be sitting right now!" If that was MJ out there against the Spurs he would have pushed for 50 points and cut the margin down to at least 10 points even with a crummy effort from his teammates.
But you honestly can't blame Lebron for this one...I mean he was ineffective in a lot of ways yesterday but he got 0 help from Wade and Bosh or anyone else. Lebron is not MJ he needs help and no one gave it to him, he looked really good out of the gate...but of course a 20 some point deficit will make any superstar dumbfounded out there. Lebron could have played better but it was over early yesterday, Lebron wasn't changing anything.
And as to your comments on Lebron Vs KD, (and this is coming from a non Heat non Lebron fan)...Lebron is better than KD. Lebron is not a pure scorer like KD is but offers way more than KD does. Lebron passes better, rebounds better and defends better and can score just as much as KD on any given night. KD is a better scorer, but Lebron is the better player.
My thoughts on the Heat this offseason: First of all they need to bench Dwyane Wade. Yes he is still one of the more talented 2 guards (when healthy) did play well last year as a starter, but although he averaged a career low in minutes per game, as well as missing a whopping 28 games from injuries or just rest games down the stretch....he looked flat out sleepy throughout the playoffs. Wade got gassed in a way I have never seen him get gassed before, no energy, minimal effort, and an overall terrible performance. If Im Miami I am extremely monitoring his minutes and bringing him off the bench in order to get the most out of his time on the court. That means looking into a solid SG signing like a Nick Young or an Avery Bradley in order to fill the void in the starting lineup. Wade will still be coming off the bench and contributing with likely his same level of efficiency, but of course will allow him to conserve a lot of minutes and stay fresh for the long haul.
Secondly and probably even more importantly...they need to get bigger in the post. Chris Bosh as a center for them is a damn joke and Im surprised they have lasted as long as they have with him there. He does move to the 4 spot occasionally which is where he best fits, but he is the only effective big man on the team and he really lacks low post skill in my opinion. They tried to bring in Greg Oden this past year but of course he is about as solid as a gummy bear and never really did anything for the team. All of there attention should be on finding a capable big man this offseason...Greg Monroe in my mind would be perfect if they could afford him, maybe even replace Chris Bosh with a Zach Randolph or Pau Gasol. Chris Bosh is definitely the weakest of the big three and is the most likely to leave if anyone, he could be improved upon by adding in a better big. To me Bosh shoots way too many jumpers and doesnt offer much more than scoring which always seems to come and go anyways.
The Heat could easily win the East or finish top 3 next year with their current roster...but with a few tweaks they could be even better. They definitely need to do something after getting flat out dominated by the Spurs in 5.
I think the loss of Ibaka is bigger than you are giving credit for. Now, the Thunder are forced to go super small to score, meaning the Spurs are unstoppable in the paint. If they go big, they limit the Spurs scoring, but can't get a bucket themselves on the other end unless one of their dynamic duo makes a great one-on-one play. Ibaka was the key to their happy medium, which is now dead.
Ibaka loss was a big loss coming from a defensive perspective...but still if he was on the court i dont see it being much of a difference. The Thunder dont have the depth that the Spurs do...with Serge Ibaka the Thunder would probably put up a good fight make it a 6 or 7 game contest...but now the Thunder have no offense because they have to play Nick Collison and Kendrick Perkins together who do absolutely nothing as far as scoring goes, or play Durant at the 4 or 5 in their smaller lineup which has also proven disastrous as well.
I hope you're right, but I don't know. It's pretty much a guarantee the Pacers lay an egg or two before the series is over, which means they have to win all the close games with no margin for error in order for your prediction to come through. Seriously, have you ever seen a good team as unpredictable as Indiana this year? Crazy highs and lows all season.
Thats exactly why I am thinking whoever wins tonights game will be win the series. If Indiana does flop or lay an egg tonight I think its over for them...if they look anything like they did at times against the Hawks and Wizards they are doomed. They have to really dig in and start playing consistent. A win tonight will be huge for them, and if they play anywhere close to the way they dominated on Sunday they will be good. Gonna be a good game for sure.
The Pacers on the other hand played exceptionally well on Sunday, and with a win tonight going into Miami with a 2-0 lead would be huge for them. If they can get at least 1 win in Miami they will be sitting pretty coming back to home court for game 5.
Im going to go out on a limb and say whoever wins the game tonight will advance to the Finals, my gut says it will be the Pacers. As long as they continue to score the way they did in game 1 they should have a good chance to win or at least force another epic 6 or 7 game debacle against Miami. But if they go back to scoring 70-90 a game like in the previous 2 series against ATL and WAS they will be SOL big time.
Im saying the Pacers pull a huge upset and win the series in 6....someone has to dethrone the Heat, might as well be the top seed in the East.
Thunder are probably going to get swept, Westbrook and Durant could drop 50 a piece and still the Thunder would only score maybe 115 and the Spurs could put up 120 in a heartbeat. Thunder have no scorers other than KD and WB and even with Serge Ibaka they stand no chance. If they are smart they should look to trade Russell Westbrook this offseason and add 2-3 decent scorers, or maybe a draft pick(s). They lack depth and depth wins rings.
Thunder will NEVER win a championship with this current roster and honestly KD is turning into Lebron and is going to start getting criticized hard about winning a ring.
Spurs win this series in 4.
Imagine if he had a great QB in his career.
He would have averaged 130 catches, 1800 yards and 15TDs per season...but he kind of already did that except for the TD production.
8 years, $60M isn't a big contract? Especially considering it was signed in 2005, when $60M was astronomical for a WR.
It was actually signed in 2010 it was a contract extension that amounted to about $9M or $10M per year after he put up a crap ton of production and was the top WR in the NFL. When you look at Megatron who got $150M 2 years after AJ signed his and Larry Fitzgerald who got $130M in 2011 its microscopic in comparison.
As far as I'm concerned this is completely hypothetical. There would be a lot of hoops to jump through to get AJ here. I'm more focused on the relative value of Torrey Smith, as a soon to be FA in comparison to an All-time great WR nearing the end of his prime.
Yea I doubt we trade Torrey...be it for Andre Johnson or a combination of draft picks from another team. Look at it from Ozzie's point of view...what has Torrey done to warrant a trade? He is coming off a career year and a superbowl run where he was a big part of our passing game. He is no dominant WR like A.J. Green or Dez Bryant but is an electric homerun hitter and will make a solid WR for us over the next 4-5 years. Ozzie knows how to get fair contracts done, and definitely wont overpay Torrey who will likely get something a long the lines of a 6yr/$35-40M contract. Eric Decker put up amazing stats in Denver but only got $7M per year, I see Torrey staying in Baltimore on a similar contract.
Yeah, that clearly wasn't a ploy to get as much money as he can from us. Very comparable to AJ throwing his team under the bus while in the middle of the contract
If you were a top 5 WR in the NFL who has done nothing but lead the league in receiving, go to pro bowls, and straight up dominate for 1 team over the course of 11 years and had to deal with crummy QB after crummy QB, new system after new system, and a lot of losses....wouldnt you want to get the hell out of dodge?
This isnt about money...Andre Johnson has already made a crap ton of money on an underpaid contract ( $90M less than Megatron...$7M less per year, and $12M less guaranteed). Its about how terrible the Texans are as a team...he has done nothing but help them and lead them as a player and they continue to struggle. He has been getting thrown to by the likes of David Carr, Matt Schaub, Tj Yates, and Case Keenum...and still has put up 220 catches 3000 yards and 10 TDs the past 2 seasons. What more does he have to do for this team? He cant throw to himself...he is 33 now and is probably tired of watching the playoffs on his couch. He has had a very successful but mostly wasted career being thrown to by bums...he could have been SO much better than Megatron had he actually had a great QB throwing to him or been in a pass heavy scheme like Detroit back when he was in his prime.
Andre Johnson deserves to play where he has a chance to help a team go to a super bowl, he has already wasted 11 years doing nothing in Houston and doesnt have much time left.
What's more valuable, a future FA or a 3rd round pick? The Ravens would be dumb not to consider it.
Im not saying the Ravens wont try and trade for Andre Johnson for a draft pick(s)...shoot I hope they do. Im saying trading Torrey Smith for Andre Johnson straight up will never happen. Torrey is coming off a career year...why would we just throw him away?
I still dont see the trade happening though considering we already have our veteran WR in Steve Smith (who was putting up Andre Johnson #s in 2011 and 2012) and the fact that AJ has a ton of money left on his contract too. Its a pipe dream for sure.
The reason why Houston would trade him is because he doenst want to play for them. Who knows what lengths he will go to, but they are in a tough spot. If they can get any young talent back for him it's a deal that makes sense on their end.
It would never happen...no way we give up Torrey Smith even if it were for Andre Johnson Ozzies not that dumb. The Texans will likely be looking for 2015 draft picks anyway, and Andre will probably have to hold out for a while before anything happens.
I could see NE, NOLA, Carolina, Denver, Seattle, maybe even Greenbay trading for him. Contenders would be dumb not to consider him for a 3rd rounder..or maybe even a 2nd. Im eager to see if and where he goes.
As much as us fans would love to see Andre Johnson as a Raven...it wont happen. He has nearly $30M left on his contract through 2016, and he is getting up there in age and its not wise to invest that much on someone with injury concerns who may play 2-4 more effective seasons, we already have Smiff anyway. And I seriously doubt that #1 we would even consider trading Torrey Smith, and #2 why would the Texans trade away a much better WR for a less talented one? Thats not gonna happen.
This is an intriguing situation and I would LOVE to see Andre Johnson one of the top 3 WRs in the NFL even at age 33, go catch passes from Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Rodgers or Manning. His stats were epic with crummy ol Matt Schaub throwing to him in a run heavy offense...he could absolutely go off with a great QB throwing to him.
ozzie must be going senile, I have never doubted ozzie until now. im even madder then I was when we passed on hakeem nicks for Michael oher. ive vocally been against drafting HHCD, but jesus the guy was expected to go at 13 AT THE LATEST, and he slides all the way to 17, clearly the BPA, better value than mosley, and fills the biggest glaring need on our roster, there is literally no bigger hole on our roster than FS, on the other hand, we traded up in the 2nd for Arthur brown just a year ago, signed daryl smith to a long term contract, and ILB is practically locked up. I am LIVID about this pick right now. worst pick since kyle boller, and this is only the 2nd time since I started following the draft in 06 that I have been mad about any of our picks, I generally believe every pick ozzie makes is a smart one in some way, whether or not it is the player I "like", but this seems like a completely idiotic pick to me. neg away.
Ozzie and Decosta had Cj Mosely quite high on their big board...most likely at number 1 and obviously higher than ClintonDix. BPA is BPA and Ozzie should have that mantra tattooed on his chest by now.
If this pick was last year everyone in the state of Maryland would be doing backflips and jumping for joy. We left last years draft with a so-so project MLB in Arthur Brown in what was a weak ILB draft class. The fact that we could come in here and finally solidify that position for the future is definitely not a bad way to go. Really the only knocks on Mosely are injury concerns and athleticism questions, he is a very talented MLB who we will most likely get some good use out of this year.
Just now caught up to our pick on my DVR. I thought for sure the minute Dallas took Zack Martin we were going to trade down. Then when the pick came in and I was ecstatic. Mosley is not just a player for the future but a plug and play guy who can play immediately.
Ozzie strikes again!
Welcome to Baltimore CJ!
Thats the good news...the bad news points to his long list of injuries(hip and elbow dislocation, various shoulder tears and ankle problems etc.), . As long as he stays healthy he could be a solid plug and play as a rook, adding on to our solid run D from a year ago.
Surprised no one hasn't mentioned the Clippers owner yet in here... Will be interesting to see how the team reacts. Might be the first time fans root for the opposition.
From the tape...Donald Sterling seems like an old school southern dude...who is most definitely and obviously racist. I like Magic Johnson's comments that he will never attend another Clippers game again and that he feels sorry for Coach Doc Rivers, Chris Paul, Blake...and all those Clippers players who play for a racist owner. And who was the young latina girl from the audio tape...his elleged girl friend??? She looks old enough to be in high school maybe in her 20s and she is dating a fat 80 year old businessman (I aint sayin she a gold digger...). Pretty weird situation...more absurd than the racism stuff in my opinion.
Eager to see what type of discipline comes his way. Definitely an odd situation...especially when your team is looking good so far in the playoffs.
OKC squeaks out of Memphis with the series tied. Durant looked like complete garbage tonight and has not been himself for the most part of the playoffs thus far. They wont make it far unless KD comes out of his shell and starts dominating and controlling the offensive side of the ball, he is missing way too many shots. I dont see the Thunder making it to the finals.

Haha any OC could put up those stats with Peyton Manning and a nuclear arsenal of weapons on offense! Lol but in all seriousness, I think we can get a potential Gase hiring to work much in our favor if Ozzie decides to hire him
