  1. Steve Smith is kind of childish when it comes to getting cut though...I remember in the 2011 offseason when the Panthers had him on the trade block and were contemplating cutting him he batted his eye lashes and rolled over on his back and promised to be a good boy to whatever team he would play for in 2011. He is a "I just want to play football" type of player when he is on the chop block. But that is my one knock on him- his attitude.
  2. With an hour left hopefully Eugene Monroe signing comes along soon. He has got to be reading all the news about how the LT frenzy is about to breakdown. His best bet is to sign what Ozzie put on the table.
  3. Just 1 of 5 seasons.
  4. Torrey lacks the reliability factor that Joe had with guys like Boldin and Mason. Torrey is a deep threat not a chain mover we had a ton of trouble last year converting 3rd downs and you can't always throw the 9 route to Torrey. You got to have WRs who can hit the routes over the middle. Steve Smith fits a big void we had on offense last year. I do agree that younger WRs could be the way to go but Joe would still be throwing to Torrey, Marlon, and whoever else we might get too. And again I really don't have a preference to what direction Ozzie may go...veteran could be nice, rookie could be nice too. We just need more talent at the position.
  5. Pats put a 3 year deal on the table for him...so he is got some thinking to do. He probably will find more money elsewhere.
  6. Joe Flacco has always had a reliable veteran WR to throw to. Whenever we were down in a big game or had to make a big throw Flacco always had either Derrick Mason to throw to or Anquan Boldin. They were Joe's best friends because he knew everytime he threw to them they would make the catch. Mason gave us 6 really good seasons after we signed him including a couple of 1000 yard seasons with Flacco. After we traded for Boldin although we were more run centered on offense and Cam Cameron rarely got Boldin involved he still put up respectable numbers and proved to be huge in some of our playoff runs and SB run putting up 100 yard games like they were nothing, and scoring TDs all day. I could care less whether we go for Steve Smith, I much prefer a younger WR...but if you ask Joe he would LOVE to have a veteran on this team. And Steve Smith is 1000000000000000 x better than Brandon Stokley and Dallas Clark, he is still got break neck speed for his age.
  7. Damn...there goes a good FS off the board. Giants resign Stevie Brown.
  8. Anquan Boldin was a huge part in Torrey Smith's development as a young receiver. Whenever you have an old warhorse to take advice and tips on how to become the best WR you can be...big things happen. Boldin left last year and Smith emerged as our number 1 with some pretty good success. Steve Smith is a borderline HOFer and still has a lot left in the tank to make some plays for us at 35. We give him a 1 or 2 year deal and he becomes our reliable target who can move the chains and make the tough catches, while also teaching Torrey, Marlon and a possible rookie addition along the way.
  9. We have always had success with veteran Wrs. They are reliable security blankets and can help develop and mentor some of the younger guys on our team. Well worth it.
  10. Baltimore sun reporting Ravens showing interest in WR Steve Smith
  11. First big contract is in Bucs agree to terms with DE Michael Johnson 5yr/$43M
  12. Some team will overpay for him.
  13. Hoping we go after a WR this year in free agency. A lot of good options who you don't have to break the bank for.
  14. Zach Strief > Austin Howard. Also Walton is a bum and has injury concerns he wouldn't get more than a 1 year deal.
  15. Saffold will probably go right to Oakland too or atleast get pickedup quick by someone. Leaving Michael Oher as the top OT available...haaaa
  16. He was a fill in guyfor a few games because Peter Konz sucked...(remember all the mock drafts on these boards that wanted us to draft Konz a few years ago in the first round?) lol hawley is more of a reserve lineman and we already have plenty of those.
  17. I doubt he would pull the trigger right away, if the Giants are smart they would not overpay someone who has garnered 0 interest so far through the tampering period. If EDS gives it some time he should get a few other calls besides the Giants (maybe us). Then he could weigh out his options make some visits and make his choice. I agree the Giants are the heavy favorite with the Pack close second but nothing is imminent.
  18. Remember when we said 6 and half million was too much for 33 year old Anquan Boldin? Im with you in concurrence that the best course of action would be to wait...but if Im a team like New England or a desperate team like the Jets $7M and a late rounder isn't that bad.
  19. They are INTERESTED but have'nt even negotiated anything yet.
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if someone like the Patriots bit the bullet on an Anquan Boldin-esque trade. He has a manageable salary ($7M) and definitely still has some left in the tank. For something like a 5th or 6th round pick it may be worth it. But then again he will be cut either way so it would be smart just to let him hit the market.
  21. Steve Smith is being traded by the Panthers. If he fails to be traded and gets cut he could be another option for the Ravens. Last year even in one of his worst years as a wideout he put up 60+catches and averaged 12 yards per. Going on 35 but still has a lot left in the tank for another 2-3 years of decent production. Maybe a 1 year deal option...but he could have a good sized market.
  22. Injury prone
  23. Davin Joseph recently got cut...he used to be a beast before a patellar tendon injury. With another offseason to heal and get back to strength he could be an intriguing prospect who could come on a cheap deal. I also like Willie Colon although he may be a bit pricey...he has experience playing all over the line. And my darkhorse Raven is Wade Smith who could be a serviceable guard and has even played center before too. He is a Kubiak disciple and never misses games.
  24. I consider him as a pretty balanced player able to block and catch. I consider his blocking a little better than just average...he is a serviceable blocker and could fit well as our TE2. He may have a big market too though so than that leaves guys like Brandon Myers, Andrew Quarless or maybe Scott Chandler. I think the best way to go is probably the draft though.
  25. Wasn't a bad signing last year...wouldn't be a bad one this year if we choose to keep him. If anything he is a rotational player who could push Arthur Brown for the starting job. He is in a much better state of mind than he was last year...my only concern is his playing ability. Is he in shape? Can he still play at the same level with the same aggression?
