  1. You know, with the newfound cap space, we are probably going to heavily persue a big name FA. Someone who is worth 6 million a year (Jake Long? Barwin? Hell, maybe Greg Jennings).

We won this trade, and here is why.

Boldin is going to suck in SF's Offense.... .They do not have a burner to help him do his thing and take pressure off of him.

Kap plays in an offense where he only throws to Crabtree....

Oh, and Q might retire, leaving them with nothing.....

We also win bc, we get to resign most of our own players, and possibly get to persue a big name FA......

It's us vs the world again... Bring it

  2. People acting like out team is doomed if we let Boldin go is hilarious. I love him as a player and he is a great teammate and leader, but it's not the end of the world folks.

Honestly, the team will be in a better position to win in the long-term if they let him go because it allows us to sign other players that are not at the end of their careers. We have made the playoffs 5 straight years and there has been a lot of turnover. It's not like Boldin has been the driving force behind the team's success.

I get the sentimental attachment and the recency effect. We also saw Boldin ball out during the playoffs, but the fact is he makes way more than his value, and it's not like the Ravens are asking him to play for nothing. A 2M dollar paycut is exactly what Boldin should be making.

But Gabe, you heard the NFL fans... Flacco sucks. He throws lobs to the best WR in the game... Boldin...

Well, lets say we have Kyle Boller with this group of WR. A true average QB. Same arm as Flacco. Do we WIN a playoff game? No....

Boldin may be important, but with a QB like Flacco, and a GM like Oz. I'm not worried

  3. Look at last offseason. We let a great LB in JJ go, and an elite Olinemen in Grubbs leave via FA. We then cut Lee Evans, Cundiff, and so on and so forth......

    Who did we bring in?

To replace JJ, we drafted Upshaw. Who looks like he's going to be one of the better OLBS in the NFL...... Value: Potentially greater for cheaper

Grubbs, who we thought it would take forever to replace, we got KO. KO is already BETTER than Grubbs at LG. KO has the chance to be the best LG in the NFL.

We then brought in Jacoby to replace Lee Evans.... Jacoby made the greatest play in Ravens history (offensively anyway, the greatest play ever is the Lewis pick six @ Ten) with the F bomb. Oh, and he's an all pro KR. Value: Greater value

    Cundiff: Tucker: Enough said

Last offseason, the sky was also falling, yet our "lousy" acquisitions were big parts of our SB....

    Ozzie knows what he's doing......

  4. It's not exactly fair, but it is a business.

Seriously, I like Boldin too, but you guys have gotta realize it's a business. Boldin is declining, and not worth a 7.5 million cap hit. Ellerbe, however, is young and improving. Simply put, Ellerbe is a better investment at this point, and Boldin is not. I don't see why that's such a hard concept to grasp.

I agree.... People are saying its just fair and he should do this.

Boldin has had a successful career. Pro bowls, all pro, some records I believe, very good reputation. Now he has the one thing he cares about. A ring....

Without Boldin, we don't win a SB plain and simple. Do I want him to stay? Of course, but at the end of the day, it's business as usual.

Do I think he takes a cut? No, money is important. But usually when Ozzie lets a player go, he gets one of equal or potentially greater value for cheaper...... Maybe Ozzie will use the new money in FA, and get an Olinemen to help protect Flacco? Or a potential Star OLB in Barwin? Or a NT like Sammie Lee Hill?

Idk, but what I do know, is that I trust Ozzie, let him work

  5. In listening to alot of Ellerbe's player interviews over the past several weeks, it appears the closer we get to free agency Ellerbe's attitude has definately changed. He appears to be listening to the wrong ears and I think he is getting an inflated sense of his worth. Don't get me wrong, Ellerbe is a good player, but that is just it, he is good, not great. I hate to think of us losing a player of Boldin's caliber from overpaying a player with durability issues. If we had a stronger front seven, the LB position wouldn't nearly be as important.

Ellerbe has potential to be great tho. I can see why he wants that much, he sees how good he can be.... But I would rather have Boldin and Reed and bring in a guy like Larry Grant

  6. Then I don't see why we are asking him to take a pay cut. We have the cap to pay him the $6 million that he is worth, unless they are planning something big in free agency. $6 million would be saved by cutting him so something tells me they want to do a big move and that is the only reason they are asking him to take a pay cut or be released.

    Jake Long maybe?

    Starks?

    TELL ME?

A big move isn't Ozzie esq......
