  1. i think its hilarious that people actually think you have to spend your whole life in football to understand it. Its a game (that even elementary school kids play), not quantum physics.
  2. who comes up with these random stats? i can think of at least 26 rookies that started last year, and that is a lot more than 5% of 254 picks. please dont just make up numbers because they sound cool
  3. of course, once people actually start playing and they revisit this a year from now, most of these will drop significantly because they're pretty much meaningless now; but if this makes you feel better about things, enjoy.
  4. are we pretending this is a good thing? do we feel smarter or more clever than the rest of the league for this? i dont. know why the league is drafting offense? because they (like us) are already set on defense. At least the people that matter. The Bengals, the browns, the broncos, patriots, chiefs, niners, seahawks, aka everybody we'll have to go through to get a trophy. they already have all the defense they need and they're smart enough not to waste their draft picks adding to a unit that wont get any better no matter who they bring in. they realize you have to score at some point to win a game. we still havent quite figured that out yet apparently. Justin tucker my be the franchise leader in points next season but hey: at least we got an inactive list full of unneeded defenders to wave at every sunday. this the best shape our defense has been in entering a draft in a while, the only thing we really needed now, or in the near future was a safety. we're basically set on one half of the ball and had our highest pick in 6 years, the perfect chance to finally fix and strengthen this offense and we threw it to the wind. smh
  5. lol the standard "i really dont have a good point here so im jsut gonna tell you to root for [insert random weak team here]" reponse. that never gets old. I'm not determining anything...if observable reality bothers you so much, stick to fantasy football. In the real world, teams (including ours) dont switch their whole defensive line out every other minute. this whole "we keep a rotation" excuse is just a way for half of you to feel comfortable about the fact that we have superfluous linemen wasting roster space while our Receiver "rotation" doesnt exist, and our O line isnt even complete. You dont need that many linemen for a rotation...thats why we cut Spears last season and still couldnt find room on the field for some of the other backups.
  6. are you even doing the math? Jernigan is 6th string at best as it stands, which means he's definitely not starting, and i've heard our conditioning test is pretty tough. Everybody on the roster passes it, so i highly doubted we'll frequently go 6 deep in a linemen rotation if at all. Williams pretty much never saw the field last year.
  7. sure, because ignoring wr, guard, tackle, and tight end worked out so well for us last year...
  8. dont know if you noticed, but i jut listed 5 guys and that wasnt even all of them. we play 3-4, not 5-2.
  9. Drafting by need gets you Joe Flacco. In Lombardi, I trust.
  10. we got lucky to put together a defense as dominant as teh one from 2000 in an era of football where offense wasnt nearly as prolific, and for the entire decade plus following that trophy, Offense proved time and again to be the missing link until finally in 2012 we put enough of it together to take SB 48. 2012 and the ensuing 8-8 tragedy in 2013 which came coincidentally enough, after we gutted our offense, should be all the proof needed that this Best player available formula is outdated. Owen Daniels and Steve Smith are bandaids, not answers. Having 12 defensive linemen isnt going to help us next year or the year after when our bandaids depart for any of several various reason and we're once again, without the means to consistently score. its not gonna help us THIS year when a couple of those guys get hurt and we end up with basically the same group we had last year.
  11. yeah, assuming Ngata, Canty, McPhee, Williams, and Cody ALL get some magic flu that takes them out at the same time...
  12. Marlon Brown was a de facto "starter" and not even really that if we're being real. he started because Trawick took Jacoby out on a kick return and Stokley is about 43543y5327954239542 years old. Even full healthy and not elderly, none of the three of them is somebody you want on the field every down.
  13. not really. Brady's on his way out and ive been telling you all that for a couple years now.
  14. lol Ozzie just gon keep trying to rebuild the 2000 D and win without scoring points for months at a time until he retire. That much, is clear now. I already see it now...Oz is treating Steve like an answer instead of what he is: a guy that can help. And we still need o line help.
  15. eh...
  16. Kubiak doesnt even "know the system" yet, last i heard, he's still writing the playbook.
  17. Gino was a 4th round pick, what are you talking about?
  18. you dont even know what Zuttah costs yet. After the deal gets done, i pretty much guarantee it will have been less complicated and expensive than signing De La Puente, Mack, or any other Free Agent you were looking at.
  19. your comment makes zero sense. the same pff list youre referencing ranked Gradkowski dead last at 35. How does a guy a full 11 to 13 ranks better than what we have not make sense as a replacement? no time for that, Center's too important a position. If you have a struggling cornerback or receiver, sure give em time to grow. There's 5 of those guys on the field, you can game plan around him.You only get one center. If your o line is getting blown up at the shortest, most direct path of attack every down, you will not be successful, period. Zuttah's getting a brand new deal, we're not picking up his old contract from Tampa Bay.
  20. for those interested: La Canfora reporting we gave up a 5th. its not conditional. https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/447838492291502080 https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/447838691638382592
  21. LMAO yo gotta be HEATED as a defense when the Left Tackle has a 13 yard completion on you hahahahaha. and yeah, that 27 is Rice, for those wondering.
  22. nah we shouldnt, thats overkill. we dont need the best center in the league to win. done plenty of that without anything that's even come close up to this point.
  23. i think this could cost us up to a 5th depending on the kind of play and play time we get out of him, but youre generally right.
  24. harder to quantify the performance of OLs, not much to count, so rankings only mean so much to begin with when it comes to these types of positions. Aside from the clear cut top and bottom 5, i generally consider everybody else on the list to be more or less interchangeable; that's usually not too far from the truth.
  25. we were never going to take a lineman in the first round, the only ones worth it werent going to be there at 17. We definitely are taking one at some point in the draft though, and whoever it is we take will decide where Kelechi plays. I'm betting on us having an easier time finding a serviceable guard than a tackle, which is why im assuming KO ends up on the right side. Tackles play on islands, if you have to make a choice, I funnel the most experience to the tackle position first.
