  1. ugh. i hope no parts of Chip Kelly or his organization rub off on anything in Baltimore.
  2. just because they arent players or front office personnel doesnt mean they arent part of the Patriots' organization.
  3. and they wouldnt be wrong. There are always gonna be people on extreme opposite ends of the spectrum of opinion about how much punishment is deserved. Some will go scorched earth, some wouldnt punish them at all. No matter how varied the opinions though, they all collectively tend to form a bell curve, and the point along the curve where all the votes stack up is generally what could be considered a fair and reasonable consensus. At the very least, people who arent patriots fans and have no conflicting interest in presenting the patriots in the best light can agree that Brady should be suspended for some significant period of time, 2-4 games. As unlikely as it may be, most will probably agree that the Lombardi should be vacated as well since they never had the right to compete for it to begin with given this transgression. Its a safe bet better than 50% of people will be happy with one or the other. Some will say they should lose all their superbowls. No matter what they do, not everybody is going to be totally happy, but the goal isnt trying to please everyone necessarily, so much as not insult their intelligence. The public knows the difference between a sincere attempt to punish wrongdoing and love tap PR move to pander to non patriot fans. If the outcome ends up being more the latter than the former than the "integrity card" should be played; because nobody likes a BS'er.
  4. you're right...partially. Not about when it affects me, or us...or, general civilians rather. Its when it affects our team. Youre making light of the issue of integrity...its not just a biased self serving power grab. If the Pats get off with this scott free, they will have essentially been given the right to decide when and where they feel like following the rules. ANd any subsequent punishment of anyone else presents a double standard and demonstrates nepotism and conflicts of interest. Rules are rules for a reason, and if its left up to the discretion of each team whether or not to follow them, what's the point of any of this? Get rid of the refs and let people do what they want, that's essentially what's already happening.
  5. There is as little proof to back up your statements as there is to back up theirs. You cant say for sure the deflated balls didnt help, one could as easily say you're "obviously" (there's nothing obvious here at all, you're obviously inappropriately using that word) UNDERestimating the ebeneficial effects of underinflated balls. Just because the Pats didnt score as frequently in the first half as they did in the second does not mean they "did worse." Unless your definition of "doing worse" is solely predicated on scoring frequency. But such reasoning has several clear flaws and certainly wouldnt fly with any one with moderate sensibility about the game. And neither common sense nor the fact that the Pats scored more in the second half even suggests let alone proves that the deflated footballs are "minor in the grand scheme of things," because once again, you cant even quantify the effect of the deflated balls on the outcome of the game let alone prove that there isnt one. Football is a game of circumstances, your situation changes and dictates your game plans, play calls, strategy, how aggressive you are on either side of the ball and how aggressive individual players are in there actions and decisions on taking risks. There are an immeasurable number of seemingly small and/or insignificant variables that can spark a dramatic ripple to affect what transpires in a game and its ultimate outcome, the fact that it ended up being a blowout means nothing. in fact, that is the worst (and unfortunately, most mindlessly repeated) defense of the patriots ive seen to date...because who cheats in order to end up with a nail biter victory? The entire purpose of cheating is to ensure the win...
  6. "reports." thats a funny way to spell "Pats fan rumors."
  7. nope...i dont see any bias here at all, dont know what you're talking about.
  8. I was just messing with you. I commented somewhere i was glad Ozzie finally cared about the offense. Other than that, i didnt have much to say either, im happy with it. I think Carl Davis was the best pick of the litter, im glad we were able to take some receivers and still give the defense a boost like that in the 3rd round. I think he'll make it easier to not miss Ngata.
  9. you guys take all this far too personally lol
  10. This is a foregone conclusion. Playing in London means giving up a home game, and Bisciotti already said years ago that he wasn't going to take a game away from Baltimore. The Ravens in London arent happening unless something changes or London gets their own team (therefore leaving our home schedule untouched if we were to go).
  11. yeah as long as we're looking for linebackers. we just drafted linebackers in high rounds 2 years in a row, we dont need anymore of those.
  12. no i dont. the fact that that is NOT true is precisely why i dont understand why we're picking up capricious and thoroughly unneeded defenders when our offense still isnt very strong, you're missing my point completely. *sigh* again with relying on people who get cut for a reason to play critical positions for us...that doesnt work. it never has for us.
  13. can you help me understand why we're ignoring right tackle? right tackle is kind of important. and in a year or 2 when Smith is retired and Daniels is gone, we will once again, need more pass catchers. And that's assuming nothing happens to them this season.
  14. we do it every year. all those guys werent on the roster. some were on IR, some on the practice squad, others inactive every week. You get 45 men on game day...just think logically for a minute about all the guys you need to play a full football game and how many of each you can fit into a list of 45. 2 Quarterbacks 4 Rbs 7 OLs 3 tight ends 5 Receivers 4 Safeties 5 corners 8 linebackers thats 38 guys right there. leaves you 7 spots max for DLs, and i dont think we activate 7 DLs every sunday. Most likely we bring 8 OLs and another corner/receiver for special teams.
  15. Vonta Leach plays a position the current league doesnt value anymore, getting a lead blocker anytime you feel like it isnt hard in 2014. Corey was brought here to play special team, not because we needed a starting corner. he just happened to turn out to be a competent defender, and even when he started getting PT, he was still just the nickel back. Ricky Williams, again, a back up. not some one we brought here to be a critical starter. Pollard is your one good example to stand on here, and that does not counter all the bad ones. sorry.
  16. yes they are, and yes you dont. which is why its good to not drop all your eggs in Wagner basket, because IF he doesnt pan out, we're screwed. If none of these excessive DLs we're picking up work out, we're still gonna be fine there. how do people not get this?
  17. we all understand what they're doing: continuing to neglect the offense both in the present and future as they always do until it gets so terrible that they HAVE to do something about it. Understanding that doesnt make it a smart thing to do. Upshaw is a consistent and reliable run stopper. McPhee has played great at end and is a borderline starter, only reason he wasnt on the field much last year is because coaching staff is experimenting and trying to turn him into an OLB. Cody hasnt lived up to expectations, but he isnt an abhorrent failure either. i dont know where you're getting this "they havent shown they can play" stuff from, i think its jut your favorite thing to say whether its true or not. And i dont see how bringing in more unknown quantities to add to the ones you already have solves anything. you're trying valiantly and i applaud you for that: but there's no rational justification for ignoring our offense in this draft. well that's your personal opinion, but it doesnt make sense, i'd say you were the unrealistic one here. we had two pro-bowl guards flanking a solid center in Birk, and a reliable, serviceable tackle in Oher on one side or the other. only real problem we've had these past few years is LT, never filled that void when Ogden left. i appreciate the glass half full approach, but realistically: we have 2 quality starters at LT and RG, and two more pretty good guards who may not (actually, probably wont, given how this draft has gone) play guard at all and hope to turn out to be a serviceable center and ok RT.
  18. Left end and right end are the same position: End. you dont need 4 of them. and in a 3-4 defense you certainly dont need a 4 deep DT chart. In base 3-4 you might use 2 or 3 DTs on occasion in special sub packages, but more often than not, if we arent on the goal line or blocking a field goal, we'll only be using one.
  19. if you cut 2 guys, you still have 8. and just like every other season, the draft will once again occur prior to the start of the next season, and the season after that, and the season after that. Plus, i dont get how you're more concerned about the future of the defense that has more players than we can field but not about the offense that doesnt even have enough players to field a full o line (that we can trust). that's a really confusing position to me.
  20. youre not done with that question. hypothetical situations do not an answer make. Come back when you dont need to use the word "if." Not to mention if Eric Winston doesnt have a job by now there's a reason for it. You'd think Ravens fans wouldve learned that lesson from Billy Cundiff, Lee Evans, TJ Houshmandzadeh, etc. etc.
  21. how does that change the fact that no matter who it is that ends up starting, we have a bunch of guys wasting roster space while other parts of our roster are still incomplete? and why does everybody keep talking about whose starting anyway. there are 10 people on that list! you only get to field 11 at once... and please stop telling me Upshaw is a linebacker like i dont already know that. he plays on the line on run downs, he doesnt stand up or drop in coverage, we use him more like an end than anything else. you can get stuck on his official listed position all you want, that wont change the fact that he plays on the line and that when ever he's on the field, one of those other 9 wont be.
  22. upshaw is LISTED as OLB, he IS whatever we need him to be in the moment, much like Suggs and Dumervil. and when have you ever seen us run a defensive play with 4 Ends and 4 DTs on the field? do you even know what 3-4 means?
  23. no. because he's a slow power back who needs blocks to produce...and we still dont have a right tackle.
  24. well, for starters...we were never thin there. Chris Canty Haloti Ngata Brandon Williams Terrence Cody Kapron Lewis Moore Pernell McPhee Courtney Upshaw Deangelo Tyson just drafted the Jernigan kid now Urban only 6 (and even that is a little excessive) of these cats tops make it on to the 45 man list on any given game day, that means we're going to have at least 4 guys twiddling their thumbs back at the castle every sunday.
  25. and ANOTHER Defensive End. just gonna go ahead and accept that Ozzie doesnt believe in scoring points, lol.
