  1. In this scenario your trading Flacco for a 1st and second rounder? I would hope that you are trading him for someone worth grooming at the QB position. If Mallett was to "ball out" as you say. He can decide whether to stay for less or go elsewhere. I'm not use to this as a Ravens Fan, where people leave for inflated deals at key positions. But this is life in the NFL. I'm not concerned with players. My concern is our team. Mallett is only an attractive option based on his current contract and a few key passes that were actually pretty difficult throws. He may or may not be the answer but after Joe's help left for San Fran and Smith went down. I'm amped to see what a Qb can do if he uses the whole field. Instead of locking onto a receiver, Throwing jump balls in the middle of the field, Taking sacks when he can throw the ball away, Throwing off the back foot, Turning the ball over, all of these are major concerns for a guy like Mallett just coming in. Not an eight year starter.
  2. lol now that's funny!!!!
  3. I'm not concerned with (NEG's) as you call it. I'm not going with the popular opinion. I'm going against it. (Leaders and Followers). Mallett is a good option based on his pay alone. Keep the conversation on topic or don't reply please. Happy New Year !!!!
  4. I'm telling you that no Qb that produces what they bring to the table is worth the money. Alex, Matt or Flacco. None of them are worth their deals. (IMHO). <<<<just my opinion. Back on topic- Mallett is a decent backup that plays for backup money. So i'm wishing him all the best. I'm not interested in off topic discussions about other teams QB's. I'm talking about the Ravens and what our team needs are.
  5. I'm lost.....Who are you talking about?
  6. He doesn't seem to be struggling with his current crop of receivers. He should be able to give us what Flacco does. You don't see a problem with a guy that has started 14 games in his career being put into the same sentence with our starting QB and holding his own at this point, The reason you can bring in more talent is because it cost us less at QB. So yes, he should be able to get more talented receivers and no he is not better than Flacco as of yet.
  7. This is a Ryan Mallett thread right? So logically, talking about the only other realistic competition at the position seems almost necessary. Carping on Flacco? I'm merely pointing out his inflated contract VS his gameplay as a reason that someone like Mallett is so attractive to fans. We are on topic and discussing the QB position. Not sure I see a problem with the rules being broken here. We have been through this before. Seems like everyday
  8. Again, you're missing the point. I'm not sold on one performance by Mallett. What I'm saying is Joe's been gone for weeks now and I don't miss him one bit. The gameplay has not dropped off enough for concern. Mallett may not be the answer but we need to bring in competition at every position. To be honest Steve Smith nearing retirement, is more missed than Flacco. Just saying
  9. And what does this have to do with the Ryan Mallett thread?
  10. Let's stop here. Off the top of my head. I watched MCCown torch (San Diego). Derek Carr did better than Flacco against them also. <<<also outplayed Flacco when we went head to head with the (RAIDERS). (Cleveland) is 3-12 no need to address them at all. Carson Palmer killed (Cincinatti). Does that cover everyone? Lots of misinformation in bold. Now to Mallett- He can give us what Flacco brings to the table, if we can give him a better supporting cast. Which is very possible with the reduction of the Qb salary.
  11. When people bring up this stat in particular it makes me think that you don't understand the game. (ANYONE) could have taken us to the playoffs in JOE"s first season he had 14 tds and 12 picks. Not exactly setting the world on fire. Mallett could have done that. Minus his stellar Super bowl run and 2014 campaign Joe has been mediocre at best. 2 Good years in the NFL are not enough for a contract of that size. I'm only interested in what makes us better as a team. Mallett or something similar to what i saw against Pittsburgh is all we need to be an elite team in the future. Not a QB that underperforms in every area of the game(for his contract). We need a downgrade if Flacco is an upgrade at the position, so we can restock our defense and trench positions. Mallett is decent, I'm just not sure if I can trust him as of yet. But someone along those lines would be awesome.
  12. In this comparison are you trying to compare Ben to Flacco? Because honestly I could see where you can compare Mallett and Flacco. ^This being our problem. It's simple guys, you can say its premature if it makes you feel better. But every Qb that has started this season for the Ravens is putting up Flacco type numbers with less than half the time in the offense. Say what you will but Flacco is clearly in the conversation with the likes of Mallett and our other backups.
  13. Nope
  14. His best season is 27 tds passes. That's 120 million dollar guy? While averaging about 13 picks a season. Yes that would be serviceable. Receivers can help limit his picks a little put its more so on ball placement. Mallett is decent at the Qb position at a decent price. There is no more denying that Flacco is anything more than serviceable. This guy had 12 days with his new team and is putting up Flacco's numbers. You can argue that every QB on our roster has put up Flacco numbers. I'm not saying that Clausen, Schaub or Mallett is better than Flacco at this point. But i can't say that if given a chance one of these guys can't be as good as he already is. That's the problem. The bar is not set high at all.
  15. Clay isn't going anywhere. I have to agree with the rest though.
  16. So we are talking about one playoff run? Before the legacy run. I can remember when he got us booted out of the playoffs based on his play alone. Turnovers yet again spell doom for boy wonder. We can do this with a serviceable guy at the Qb position. Trust me. Flacco's stats suggest that he has been that player since the said run.
  17. I think your missing the point here. Mallett may not be the answer at Qb but either is Joe, and if I had to pick today solely based on performance, I'll take the guy that puts up Joe's numbers without the inflated contract. I don't like Joe for what he brings to the team at the salary he commands. He will always be garbage at that number. Mallet asks far less pay for essentially the same stats. Couple that, with intensity and a passion for the game and you have a decent fit The hate on Joe is over. All im asking after all these years, is to prove to the fanbase that he is worth his weight in gold. Honestly I don't see it and neither does the rest of the world.
  18. Worse than Joe.....lmao He has 20 tds and 5 picks......are you kidding. If the Bills need a Qb so do we. Mallett IMHO is Joe Flacco without the big contract.
  19. He is mobile. He's not a scrambling QB but definitely mobile.
  20. There is scrambling QB's that run for tons of yards then there are mobile QB's that can move their feet within the pocket. You don't necessarily have to have either but the game is moving in that direction. Mallett might be another good example of that.
  21. Cute! I almost........lol,,,,,
  22. We will revisit these in a couple seasons 2-3.
  23. Sorry Tank. This injury was the worst thing that could have happened to Joe. He's been gone for weeks and honestly i cant say that i have missed him all that much at all. This isn't something you should say about your franchise QB. Mallett is serviceable at the position and i'm wondering without the likes of Rice, Suggs, Haloti, Ray, Ed, Boldin, Torrey, Jones, Mcphee and the others if Joe wasn't just serviceable also.
  24. I would agree with this (but) on a football team all points aren't generated from the QB.
  25. They aren't? Cam, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, Mariota, Big Ben, Tony Romo, Bridgewater, Winston, Tyrod, Manziel. See any big names on that list? Sure, you still have Brady, The Mannings, Rivers and Brees to play with, but the future looks like it just went mobile.
