  1. The problem is that you can't PAY every Player what they want, deserve or expect.

The F.O. knows full well they are going to lose key players in Free Agency each year.

You keep the best and try to keep acquiring talent to surround the marquee Players.

I do hope, that Upshaw will have a good and productive year.

  2. While I'm not disagreeing with any of what you said, I do believe Tray Walker is a stronger player than the "project" you seem to be suggesting he is!

I believe ANY player can come in and, "hit the ground, running" figuratively and literally! That's to say we've seen guys have problems getting up to NFL speed, learning assignments and grasping schemes!

Then, we also have to believe some guys can come in an feel right at home -- can get it right from the jump!!!

Let's hope Tray's one of those!

I think this kid is a quick Project. He's got the attributes, he needs some instruction . He's got great size for a CB.

I think he shows up......and gets to stay.

  3. I believe he can get a decent contract, because he is a free agent - so, if there's demand, his agent can whip up the price considerably?

Still, what you say makes a ton of sense. And I don't think we would want him at tackle, either... Right now he would be almost certainly no more than depth - and I believe he can go somewhere else where he has a much better chance of getting to sart Week#1.

He can only make so much from being an Undrafted Free Agent......whereas had he gone in the 1st or 2nd Round? He'd received a longer and higher earnings contract. He can sign a 3 year contract as a UDFA.

He may or may not receive a decent Signing Bonus......that all depends.

He'd have gotten a pretty good sized one being selected in the top 20. It's really decent money, but he will have to make that switch to recoup what he thinks he lost.

Thinks is the word .....because I believe his lowest pay scale would be pretty decent.

~ Every undrafted rookie is locked into signing a three year contract. The three year contract will contain the minimum Paragraph 5 salary in each year, which will equal payouts of $435,000 in 2015, $525,000 in 2016, and $615,000 in 2017. These are the same numbers as rookies drafted after the 3rd round and many of the players drafted in the third round, so it is not a major loss for Collins of any player who was not projected to be a 2nd round pick.

The UDFA’s are very limited in terms of signing bonus money. I don’t have the final number in front of me but IIRC each team can spend, in total, about $88,000 on all their undrafted rookies. That usually means a large number of players receiving signing bonuses that will not exceed $8,000. So that is a limiting factor for a player who is not drafted. The smallest signing bonus a 7th round pick will receive likely to be about $52,000. So that is a pretty big loss considering for many players the bonus is the only salary they will ever receive.

So that isn't that awful.....but he still could have made a higher pay scale, by being Drafted as a 1st Rounder.

  4. I was highly pleased when this kid skipped past #25 and Carolina's Pick ! He just needs to learn how to concentrate on making catches. I agree , I don't think it's his hands.....it's his concentration. Seems the bigger the moment....he just snatches the ball out of the air. He is a beast and can fly and is a bigger and faster Torrey Smith. He will go over the middle too !

    Welcome aboard Breshad !!

  5. We won't have any idea which Players to grab in the Draft, until we find out which Veteran FAs we can afford and add. Let's get this segment over with and then we can look at what Rookies we we will want to invest in. Getting Monroe locked in again , for long term, would be a good start to Free Agency
