I was somewhat surprised Stevie Sr. was back there on Punt Return duty. He was the best option though, for the time being. We will see how quickly Campanaro gets up to speed , after missing practices.
We lost Week 1 last year.....and we were just fine. Losing T-Sizzle stings, but this is a good Football Team. Lot's of teams lose to Denver ,in Mile High Stadium ! We had a chance and just didn't get it done.
"We're Moving On To Oakland !"........lol
Disappointing as a fan, and losing Monroe early was a tough break. Losing T-Sizzle is a major shock to the system.
I will say that those were 2 of the Best Defenses that I've seen playing, against one another.
Back to the Drawing Board , get the replacements in stride and get ready for The Raiders.
This kid could be a genuine "Diamond in the Rough" !
Terrence Magee was Re-Signed and Urban was placed on the IR-Return Designation.
Glad Magee is back , as he was actually the 3rd best RB in the Pre-Season.
Terrence Magee's Signing.... keeps "The Streak" alive ! I'd think that it is a "given" that Magee will be on the Active 53 Roster come Sunday. He should be the 3rd RB and a candidate for KR.
It seems the Charles James is already in Baltimore and is awaiting the decisions of the F.O. Urban will either go IR or IR-Return, which opens 1 Roster spot. Maxx Williams has been wearing "No Contact" jerseys and headgear in practices , which may be the reasoning for all of the TE movements. This year's Ravens will use 3 TEs per game, especially in Trestman's Offense. Now......Charles James can play DB and is also a KR/PR, so we'll have to see where they go with these new acquisitions. Being able to play several positions is a valuable asset.
Folks.....this is 2015. All of the prior Stats are nice to look at, but there are things to address.
Let's hope the Offense throws up as many points as last Season....and more.
Let's hope the Defense can Rush the Passer as last year, with a much better Secondary.
And....let's keep the O-Line and D-Lines Healthy.
We have shallow RB depth right now, thus we have 6 WRs and some waiting in the wings.
I think Trestman will keep this Offense rolling and have it be slightly more efficient !!!
The decision on Urban is a tricky one. CAN.....he have the opportunity to return?
So....I'll let them debate for another day or 2 and just do as I always have, as a Ravens' Diehard fan.
Trust in Ozzie to .....Git 'R Done !!!!
Pitta hasn't been guaranteed any return at all.....hasn't even been cleared by any doctors to possibly return.
We'll just have to see what the FO and Coaches come up with. Before Ross' arrival? I'd have said Campanaro would be the Returner. Nothing like an "Imaginary Crapshoot".....LOL
Regardless......I like the Jeremy Ross addition. He could possibly be on the Active Roster , this coming Sunday. He's a decent KO/Punt Returner.
Hard to say because the article above says that Konrad Rueland is on the Practice Squad.
If you look at the "current" 53 Man Roster ? Rueland is listed on there as #86/TE.
It would be nice to see Montee Ball come here, but I think he'd be an "After Week 1" candidate. His Rookie Contract stated he would make $595K this year and a Roster Bonus of $125K which is a moot point, so he shouldn't be an expensive add. I think he was mishandled by Fox and Company after his groin and appendectomy issues, but that is neither here ..... nor there. Ideally, Terrence Magee would be a good reclaim. He has an all around skillset and ran back a KO for 25 and ran hard with over 4 YPC in his game action. They could reclaim Toussaint . Never know.....and the staff has a week to come up with a solution. It will probably end up as Campanaro's job for now.
Pretty good Squad , thus far. Glad to see Renner, Butler and possibly Daniel Brown returning!!
Nick Perry and the O-Linemen are a welcomed sight, also !
With over 1000 Players cut loose, yesterday? I think we can find someone. I like Campanaro, but darned if he doesn't seem like another Brandon Stokely. Have to stay healthy, which I will give Jacoby credit for doing. Only time he really got hurt was when he got smashed by his own teammate.
Urban goes on IR later today and that leaves 1 spot open...so maybe Jackson returns.
The quote about taking a picture of the Roster right now is an accurate description.....LOL
I wouldn't mind seeing Magee (RB) come back to the fold. He's tough and can do all of the assignments necessary in the "Job Description". If Belchick cut Jonas Gray.....then something is up with his Injury.
Not terribly surprising to see the 3 mentioned above , to not make the Final 53. Jackson cooked his goose with Fumbles and Jah Reid has been up and down for several years.
Somewhat puzzled that Jeremy Butler didn't make it, but it isn't a shocking result.
May be that Myers can land on the Practice Squad.
Seeing the replays (S.E. Florida has no MASN ......LOL), I am totally shocked that Robinson received nothing. Quite obviously a penalty should have been called for Unnecessary Roughness. If any one was to be Ejected? it should have been #52's name being called first. No place for that nonsense ......in any setting.
You can't Turn it Over in your initial 2 Drives and then go on to commit 17 Penalties for another free 139 Yards. Not to mention....when and where the Penalties occurred.
No need to hit the Panic Button. A sloppy Pre-Season outing is what it was. Get the O-Line healed up , correct the Defensive Penalties and misreads and lets see what happens in the Dress Rehearsal ,next Weekend.
Not much to judge on the KR aspect when the opposing Kicker knocks them out of the End Zone.
Patience......and we will find a candidate or 2. These kids have to stay healthy for one thing. Jackson must have a minor knee issue , so we will see if he returns to practices or if Campanaro or
Deandre Carter, the Rookie ,can flash for this next contest.
Jacoby didn't offer as much last year on Offense ( 9 Receptions ) and fumbled twice so I can see letting him go. Just have to let this thing work itself out. We may end up with a separate
KO/Punt Returner scenario. Could be a WR, a DB or even a RB. We'll know by early September.
Perriman's Injury ? I've thought all along that it is (was) a Bone Bruise or a deep Muscle Bruise.
They take a few weeks to heal up and work themselves out. Get the stiffness and ache to go away and the things are flexible again.
He's losing time but I don't think they are going to jettison him, at any time soon. I'd be more worried about Marlon Brown not suiting up. Flacco knows what he has with both of these guys, but you'd like to see these early Training Camp reps with your QB.
Almost can compare Urban's 2 year journey as a Raven , to that of Dan Cody. Shame too, as I (and every other Raven fan) was looking forward to see this young man's Pass Rushing and Run Stopping abilities.
We will find out who comes up big from now on , into the Season.
Hate to see Players get injured , but it is inevitable. "Next Man Up".... That's how it works. Hopefully Elam can heal, rehab and be back in the mix for next Season.
It appears that we may even be a better team with more depth this year, than we were in 2014. Keep making progress with Trestman's schemes and make this a dynamic Offense and a tough Scoring Defense.
Let's Keep 'Em Healthy !
Yes indeed.....it's Training Camp Time ! Steve Sr. tailed off a bit towards the middle of the Season, but really the whole team did have a "lull" period. Lost 2 in a row and then beat mediocre teams and lost at Home to San Diego. However, I would expect the same type of Season from Smith Sr.....and perhaps even a bit better, than his inaugural Season in B'more. He makes a huge difference with his veteran presence.....on the Offensive side of the ball.
Other than Jermaine Lewis and Torrey Smith ? We haven't really hit on a decent group of WRs......until now, I believe.
Carter has a chance to make some noise, just as Steve Smith once did.
I remember going.....Lane College? Had to look it up after that NFL Draft.....LOL
It is looking like we have finally found a good and complete group, with these youngsters.
Hopefully Campanaro can lose the "injury bug" because he can be dynamite in the Return Game, as well.
Wouldn't it be cool to see Perriman and Brown or Aiken or Butler or Waller out Wide.....and Steve Smith in the Slot ?
You don't want to lose a Player of Ngata's abilities and demeanor, yet this will be an interesting development.
Love Jernigan's game and with Williams and a decent D-Line ? With a rejuvenated Secondary ?These guys could have a really big Defensive Season.

This team needs to apply pressure to the opposing QB......Plain and Simple !
Catching up to "Old Man" Manning is one thing, but there needs to be constant pressure applied on these QBs. I didn't get to see this game and only saw a few highlights.....but Timmy Jernigan needs to have his large rearend chewed out and fined for that ridiculous late hit. That is inexcusable.
Now.....it's on to get ready for Cincy.
