Glad the Deal is Done and we can move on.
The TEs are going to be even more involved this year. All of these TEs could become the most solid group, that I have ever witnessed in all of my years.
If Pitta can stay healthy ? I would not be surprised to see the Ravens carry 4 TEs on their Roster. Then they will have to decide what to do with Boyle, later on in the Season.
It seems to me that Stanley and Monroe are "dual" Insurance Policies ,at this point in time. That makes complete sense and there is no need in jettisoning Monroe right now.
#1....If healthy ? He's a solid LT
#2....You can't hold his remarks on his belief in Medical Marijuana against him , on a professional and employment level. He actually makes sense on that, even though it ruffles feathers. I'm sure the F.O winces when he brings it up, however there is a 1st Amendment right and he has a right to express his feelings .
#3.... No need in creating more "dead money", if it can be avoided.
#4..... You already have both Players signed and your Franchise QB could be well protected with a Duo of these 2 Tackles .....protecting his Blind Side.
#5.....It could possibly be a blessing in disguise to have both of these guys as an interchangeable LT/LG package for this Season.
Let's keep an eye on the health of Monroe and let the On Field play make the decision easy for every one involved.
Maybe we should give Jernigan some credit for not calling Sapp. Warren has been 'front page material' a few times ,over the past couple of years. Those headlines weren't for any Hall of Fame actions, either.
I also was stoked to see Dixon selected, in the 4th Round. I couldn't believe he lasted that long. Perhaps the hamstring was an issue to some folks. The kid has all of the tools to be very good. You don't just sneeze your way, to 87 TDs in a college career !
Whether it was a blatant attempt to sneak a padded practice in ? Or it was just a misinterpretation of the CBA ? It is what it is and you deal with it.
If a Union Rep sees something that is wrong..... and reports it ?
That's his job.
They lose 3 practices , that are Non-Contact practices. It is what it is.....and you deal with it. Same as they dealt with the NFL and the Hurricane Ike Fiasco and damage to the Texans stadium back in 2008. They took away a Week # 9 Bye and made both teams play basically ..... a 14 Straight Week schedule.
I didn't see that as the NFL looking out for Players Safety.
I hope a lesson was learned, in this case.
I can see an O-Line of Monroe and Stanley on the Left side.
Having Wagner and Yanda on the Right side with Zuttah at Center.
We'll see how Monroe's health stacks up. He was good when healthy.
On Ray Lewis' future ? I think he would make a good Scout or potential Front Office Person of interests. Not sold on his wanting to Coach, but you never know. I just don't see many HOF Players become coaching candidates.
I didn't see his Broadcasting career ,as a highlight reel. Wasn't his knowledge of the game that held him back, there. He is too opinionated, and that is understandable. Not a fault, but it isn't one of the finer ingredients for an announcer to put forward. May be an analyst, on a TV Network, could work for him. I think he'd do well . However, would he be able to accept being a "Second Fiddle" on the national stage ? That would be my most poignant question.
He does have a solid and well versed "football mind", though and should put it to good use ......sooner rather than later.
Lets just take names and forget the draft pick numbers. If today you were offered Ramsey for Stanley and Kaufusi (or whatever his name is) would you do it? In a heartbeat or maybe quicker. However, by holding on to that third round pick, that is what we turned down. To me, it is a no-brainer, it was a no-brainer draft night. We could have traded back up and got another left tackle, but we really didn't need one, we had Monroe who people may not like, but he is now healthier than he has ever been so lets get rid of him, like we have many players, to watch him be successful somewhere else. Why is it we do that? Why did we value a third rounder which, like many other third rounders, we get rid of in a couple years, or we could have had Ramsey who would have been that anchor for a decade or more. I just don't understand the love of picks just for the sake of having picks. And the logic of lets get more so maybe we hit on one tells me we aren't really good at doing this or we would have more faith in the guys we select. We drafted Arthur Brown in the second round and moved up to get him but we wont to get Ramsey. This FO has lost its way.
I love Ramsey, he has all the tool to be a defensive anchor, but he is still more of a projected top talent than a lock. He hasn't defined where he will play and I don't even think he knows lol at the time I probably would have done it though, but at the same time, Stanley will be a very good LT and he hasn't even reached his potential yet. Kaufusi, ehhh we will see, he lacks leverage and would have to rush from the outside as he has no concept of leverage.
In 4 years, we can evaluate who turned out a better impact player.
I think we did just fine , with this Draft. The 4th Round was a "Knockout" !
Ramsey or Buckner would have been nice to have, but I was a bit disappointed in Ramsey's INT totals from FSU.
Stanley will anchor the Left side for 10 years plus and we needed the Pass Rusher that we selected with that 3rd Round Pick.
Excited to see what this new group of Ravens bring to the field !
May even have a few surprises from the UDFA group, as well.
I believe a few of these guys can (and will) be staying here. Notice that most of these young men are occupying "Up the Middle" positions.
We had a more than solid Draft.....even if some say that Ozzie and group were cautious.
Remember , they have an Owner who tells them what he would like and expects from them and they served Mr. Bisciotti well in this Draft !
Wish all of these youngsters luck and good health.
There are a handful of talented Players to choose from. Let's make it a good Pick and then hope that we are selecting at the end of each Round.......next Season !
Any Player we get at #6 .......will be a difference maker.
Wishing Ed Reed the best. He is a Raven , but I think him being a coach with Rex is OK. I'm not real sure he and Harbaugh would get along. Still think #20 "can" be a good Coach, though.
Sad about Lawrence Phillips. You are held accountable for your decisions, choices and actions that you make in your life. He made some wrong ones, for sure.
I firmly believe that Osemele is the ONE Player that needs to be signed long term.
We all know that Flacco will reconstruct and that helps. You also have the scenario of using the Franchise Tag on......Justin Tucker ! This gives him a significant pay raise until they can negotiate a long term deal for him.
Let's hope they can get this done.....because Osemele is Definitely... a Ravens' Type of Player ! He's a good teammate and a hard worker and could be our LT for years to come !
Wishing all of you a Happy and Safe New Year's Eve and a wonderful start to a Happy 2016 !
Stop the Penalties and costly and untimely Turnovers. Not going to fault Flacco for the INTs....as he was trying to WIN games. Trying to Win them under "Trying" circumstances.
It'll be interesting to see what these "Backups" have in store.
Wish them luck and let's keep 'Em Healthy !!!
We'll hope for a complete recovery, for Joe. I'd say somewhere around Training Camp time is realistic for him to start participating. Carson Palmer is mid 30's and he came back ready to go....after some easing into things.
Just been a nightmare of a Season and things happen.....both good and bad. I think we have probably picked up some decent pieces to the puzzle. I'm interested in seeing what Mostert and West have. This could be Terrance's final chance to show that he is a willing participant and can take directional coaching.
I'd heard rumblings before last year's Draft that there was some maturing character concerns. Would like to see the young man succeed because he is a talented RB.
Which QB comes to town ? I pray it isn't Clausen, but you never know. Would like to see Renner back in some capacity. Grossman ? Naaaaaah.......but we have to get some one.
I have all the faith in these guys. They aren't a terrible team. They just need to close out drives and in turn.....close out games. As a fan it's disheartening to see them lose 6 games by the average score of less ....than a TD.
Looking forward to see them turn it around, over the next 8 Weeks !
Well ? I hope the new Defensive signals work ! Just have to tighten up 3rd Down plays and get the Offense back on the Field. That is the "plain and simple" of the situation. We aren't a terrible team. We just haven't been an efficient team. Correcting a few things here and there can be the difference makers. We could turn those Losses of 5 Points on the average....into 2 Point or 7 point Wins. Curtail the needless penalties. Make those Defensive stops on 3rd Downs. Do a better job with the Run and Pass Blocking.
Get the Offense generating early successes.
Let's see what this team is made of for the next 2 months !
No matter what happens.....we all know that Pitta has always Played Like A Raven. The odds are stacked against him, in my own opinion. If he can really feel good about his physical well being and the doctors think he will be OK, than go for it. It's a tough decision, but I'm wishing the best for him..... and for his family.
Overall....NFL Officating is getting progressively worse, each year. Is it because now every Play is under a video microscope? For Blandino to say that the penalty on Urschel did not have a significant impact on the outcome of the game? Uh.....Hello ! Earth to NFL !!!! Darn right it had an impact to the outcome of the game. Different Play call with 2nd and 4 at the 7.....as opposed to replaying 1st Down, but now it is 1st and 15..... from the 18. Especially after you just used a "Surprise" Play to advance the ball. Then ? The Referee did not see the Player's signal ....as he was correcting notes? What notes? He was looking straight at Urschel as he was coming into the Huddle area. Did they doctor the video to make it "seem" like Tolbert was looking right at Urschel , when he was Really correcting imaginary notes from a previous penalty ? Which Penalty? That explanation doesn't fly.......whatsoever. Total League copout on that one folks.
I thought he still had possession when his lower leg was on the ground.
Of course , I also saw Urschel "clearly" signal himself as "Eligible" while staring right at the Referee. So, what do I know ? LOL
Chris Johnson's calf touched the ground before he rolled over on to Williams. There certainly wasn't a replay angle to show that, however.
Still....we have to find ways to Win and not allow Officials to have an input into a Game's outcome.
Terrible job by this Ref Crew. Took the momentum from us on 4 different occasions. Urschel "CLEARLY" signaled to the Ref and he was looking right at the huddle. No way did Webb interfere on the play near the 5. Ross was down and still had more control than the Card's tackler. I also think that CJ's calf hit the turf as he was being tackled. Amazing that when you are the home team, you seem to get the close calls...... eh ? You also don't replay a play, with a possible reversed call, on your stadium's JumboTron......lol It's over and done with, but we may be better off with officials calling the games from the TV Booths. Get's frustrating as a Fan, but a good team won't give the ref's the chance to help decide a game's outcome.
So the newcomer at CB had a bad game ? It happens....and no he isn't Will Davis. You can point fingers at whom you'd like but the fact is "The Team" can't Close Out games.
We aren't seeing 30 plus points being scored every week.
Other than the Broncos game, we've scored enough points to Win these games. Would it be a good thing for us to score 30 plus a game ? Sure, but what good is it if the Defense can't stop the opposition's Offense.
Leading against Denver...then a Pick 6....after being ahead with the chance to Drive again. Leading against Oakland late after continually coming back only to give up a TD inside of 2 minutes. Leading Cincy late and ......?
Any of us can point a finger at this or that , but this is a collective effort in not getting it done. Realistically, this team could be 5-1 or 4-2. Albeit losing Suggs in Week 1 was a huge hurdle to overcome......just in a leadership role, let alone his physical presence.
Yet, someone else has to make Plays on Defense.
Someone has to make more Plays on Offense.
It's been a collective effort, thus far.
Winning would solve all of the current woes. Even if it's only winning by 1 Point.
A Defense that can't stop a lousy QB is what cost us the game. Didn't see it live, but I've seen enough tape and read enough articles to know that this team just isn't very good right now. The Secondary is in shambles and they make too many mistakes. All kinds of mistakes. Sometimes you just have a bad Season. The vaunted Seahawks were one "Great New England Defensive Play" away from winning 2 Super Bowls in a row. They blew a good lead against Cincy, to lose in OT and they lost a lead at Home last Sunday. Atlanta was 2-4 at this time last Season and this Season they are 5-1. If any thing should materialize from upstairs ? It will most likely happen in 2 more weeks, when they go on BYE. It just seems to me that the fates are stacked against them at this point. How many times will your Kicker plant his foot into an invisible crater, at the opposing teams stadium. That's a $1.3 Billion stadium that has been re-sodded 5 times......soon to be 6 times, I'd imagine. How many times will Smith Sr. drop 2 realizable TD catches in the same game. They aren't losing by large margins. They have actually been right there with their opponents,in all 6 games. The problem is they haven't finished them out on either side of the ball. I don't think he's lost the locker room. The players just aren't performing. Dropped Passes and INTs.....bad penalties, botched assignments. You can sit here and blame it on the Coaches, but it's on the Players to carry out the game plan. I remember watching the Ravens when Cam Cameron was the O.C. and I could tell what they were going to run, just by where the RBs and FBs were positioned or where a TE moved along the Line or if if he took a step back. If I could tell that from my recliner at home? Don't you think the opposing coaches upstairs or on the field could tell what play was about to be run ? He definitely was going to be fired.
Just want to see them continue to compete and turn this around. It's possible, even if it may seem improbable.
That's using the ol' noggin ! Keeping a mainstay and now go after Tucker and see if we can keep Osemele. The latter may be tough but if we can lose some of this year's "dead money" going into the Next Calendar Season ?
Good job retaining Yanda, nonetheless !!
I'll be interested to see how Givens handles this promotion. He will finally have a big armed QB to throw the ball to him.
Welcome !!!
I see things , in this light. If you don't like the meals being served?
Go somewhere else to eat !
Starting off with 2 "Ls" wasn't expected , but it is what it is. There is a chance to right the ship this coming Sunday. Sure it wasn't easy on any one to have to stay in an unfamiliar place for 7 days and have everything be 100% spot on.
Harbaugh is right about the Defense. They worked their way back to take a FG lead with 2 minutes left. Harbaugh and I'm sure the rest of us fans would have assumed that they wouldn't have marched down the field.
Just have to move on and keep the faith. Calling for firings and criticizing team officials for bringing in a CB instead of a WR or some other position doesn't get you any where. I mean.....Flacco threw for 384 with 2 TDs , that could have just as easily have been 3 TDs. I'd say scoring 33 Points is pretty sufficient to Win a game.
Let's get a "W" on Sunday and go from there.
