Jimmi Smith is terrible, AGAIN, this year. No way he was hurt, he didn't d anything. Ravens has got to get rid of him. He brings on some major penalties thruout the game. Never close to his defender. Good bye, Jimmi
In recent weeks he has barely been targeted on throws. That alone should tell you something.
Well, its not really lucky, because if this team were 10-4, he doesn't call a fake punt in that spot.
Frankly, I'd argue we are better off not punting at all most of the time at this point. We've got far more things that we could be working on, such as red zone defense.
And that is exactly what practice is for.... Sometimes I feel like you argue just to argue, getting our punter laid out by 4 or 5 tacklers just to get our D some redzone practice might be the most ridiculous thing you've ever tried to justify.
The sad part is that his play is likely going to get him paid with someone else next season. It's still nice to see an undrafted guy do well.
Terrible call. It's lucky this game didn't mean anything. Expecting Sam to run over 15 yards straight up the gut for a 1st down is lunacy
well what do you expect when you are no longer a primetime team?
The seahawks are far from a great offense but we certainly made them look that way
The most frustrating thing was the hawks kept running the same plays on 3rd down and the D never made any adjustments. 3rd down and short - rub route to the flat, 3rd and long - baldwind on a bunch combo crossing route.. over and over.. Our playcalling sticking with man cover and our players failing to diagnose and react to this was the worst part.
I think picking in the top 5 could do wonders for the rebirth of our team. The only 2 picks we've had in the top 15 the last 15 years are suggs and ngata!
Shaub shouldn't even be on the roster anymore. He has done more harm than good and is closing in on playing time bonuses that he doesn't deserve. His arm is dead and so is his career. It's time to see if the 2 young guys are worth keeping around next year when games actually matter again.
"the Ravens blocked an extra point attempt and Derrick Brooks picked up the ball and ran it in for a touchdown"
...I wish we had Derrick Brooks on our team
Flags. For us and against us, far too many have been bad calls. The league needs to do something in the offseason to remedy this. The refs held out for more money only to perform worse than before.
Outside of the gross missed assignment on the 70 yard TD I think the defense played a solid game. The short crossing routes when our guys blitzed was the only thing working consistently for the Chargers. I was also impressed with the offense as a whole. I just fear it's too late to make any playoff run.
sad ending to a great career. thanks for the contributions Steve!
yeah, throw the ball away from inside the pocket and get an intentional grounding call resulting in a loss of down, a yardage penalty, and a 10 second run off. Brilliant.
Dude. Not when you throw it out the back of the endzone. Would be the 1st time in history, QBs do it all the time. Just throw it 10 feet over his head and live to play the next down.
Part of me thinks if Bernard Pollard had made the hit Hill made it would have been flagged
pretty sure we had 2 or 3 guys falling into the neutral zone right before the ball was snapped on our blocked punt but I guess no one here noticed that..
It's too bad Fournette isn't eligible for next years draft.
Sorry, those are cold hard stats bud.
Sorry again, but there is not factual support for your claim. So... wrong.
cold hard stats? ok, here you are:
1990
Highest scoring team averages 26.8, lowest 11.3.
Teams averaged 20.1ppg all together. 16 teams averaged at least 20ppg.
2014
Highest averages 30.4, lowest 15.6.
Teams averaged 22.6ppg all together. 22 teams averaged at least 20ppg.
Here's 2 more years to show i didn't pick years to especially prove my view - In 1991 only 10 teams averaged more than 20ppg, in 2013 25 teams averaged at least 20ppg.
like i said, this isn't the 90's anymore. putting up 30 points doesn't automatically give you a win when almost every team in the league averages more than 20.
There's a difference between Fire and discourse... And apparently there was a lot of discourse in that locker room... a lot of banging heads. Too many chiefs, and not enough Indians...
The result was a Ravens superbowl. I would gladly take some heated arguments and winning over mild-mannered guys with no heart that fold when the game is on the line. That's all we got left now.
The game ain't changed that much.
There's about 2-3 teams a year that actually average 30 PPG. Good offenses score about 25.
nope. not anymore.
I got an idea, let's let Flacco call the game from the huddle maybe that will improve our chances. If you don't like Trestman then why don't we try something new. I got another one, why not play up tempo, that will wear out the opponent's defense, again it would be something different.
Sometimes when we go up tempo it works but most times it results in multiple 3 and outs making it even more difficult on our leaky D.
30 points should be more than enough to get a win
This isn't the 90's anymore, today's game has changed.
Pees is not good. He will be gone after this year.
Grant it there is a lack of talent a key positions but a Great Defensive MIND Maximizes What Talent you do have.
Ravens dont have a Free Safety. Will Hill is a pretty strong tackler in the box safety, not good in coverage 20 yrds deep and Kendrick Lewis is the same. Terrance Brooks I dont know if hes good or not because hes not given a chance to start yet for a prolonged time. I know hes Big Thumper though and they use him often on safety blitzes..which hes pretty good at.
Jimmy Smith is a shutdown CB, but hes a Press Man CB. Dean Pees screws Jimmy and makes Jimmy look bad when he plays 10 yrd off coverage Zone 90% of the time. Jimmy is not Richard Sherman a Zone CB, hes more Darrelle Revis, Patrick Peterson.. Press Man all game long. A D coordinators job is to optimize his players talent and know who his players are..
I bet you anything Rex or Pagano would let Jimmy play Press Man every game.
Last our LBrs are HORRIBLE!!! Cj Mosley as great as he is and hes a pro bowl caliber ILBr, since the day he came into the NFL he hasnt been able to cover RBs in the pass game to save his life. Ray Lewis could do that in his sleep. Mosley can doeverything else, blitz, run stuffer, good instincts, etc but side line to side line speed is not or par with Ray...because he cant cover RBs..and every time Ravens face Bell or a legitimate RB in passing game its brutal. Daryl Smith is just to old now to shut it down.. Ravens need to find a sideline to sideline Speed backer.. See if Art Brown can do the job... Or thsts another hole needing filled through draft.
Ovbiously pass rush..eventual Sizzle replacement
WRs..give joe weapons
I agree with almost all of this. CJ may be a 2 down linebacker given his obvious struggles in man coverage which is unfortunate.. I'm all for bringing in Arthur Brown on 3rd downs for some coverage.
I want to see our guys play more press man coverage but I'm afraid our pressure will not be able to get to the QB and leave the back end guys exposed, and I'm sure Dean Pees thinks so as well.. That being said, I'm tired of our guys calling plays scared - If we are gonna lose then at least go down fighting!
We just lack heart IMO, both our O and D both cave when crunch time comes around and it is NOT the Ravens team I have grown to love.
no edge and no killer instinct. we got no heart and it's showing when crunch time comes around.

Please, no more Shaub. Just let him take his hard earned 3 Mil and ride off into the sunset forever.
