  1. It's too late to learn to cover once you are in the NFL. He is what he is at this point and that is not a man cover guy.
  2. I don't like the signing considering we have used 3rd and 2nd round picks in the last 2 years on guys who are better than him IMO. At 4+ mil a year and 35 years old this makes no sense to me.
  3. That seems to be the truth about almost every tackle taken early in the last few years. I wouldn't be very happy if we picked a tackle with our 1st pick.
  4. The spent a season or so in cap hell while they were dumping all their bad contracts but now it seems to have paid off a few few great young pieces in place.
  5. I belive it was, but because it was right after the Rice fiasco the team seemed to be putting the foot down to prevent more backlash.
  6. To me that just seemed like a best on the board pick at the time. An asset they could groom for a couple years and flip for a higher pick like they did with Cassel. I'm not sure it's even close to the same scenario this time around.
  7. I did wake up strangely happy for a Monday lol
  8. That's just my guess based on the structure and re-structure of his contract. If he truly did want to play into his 40's I don't think the pats spend a 2nd rounder on Garropollo.
  9. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/tom-brady/ Tom Brady will retire after 2017 season and will be completely off the Patriots books. He signed a 3 year/27M extension with 18M bonus and 8M salary in his pocket 1st year, then 9M salary in 2016 and 10M salary in 2017. Well below what people consider "fair market value" http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/ben-roethlisberger/ This on the other hand, seems like he has to stay on their roster through 2017 which may be a tall task for a guy that hangs onto the ball and takes as many stupid sacks as he does. His cap hits carry on through 2019 season unless accelerated earlier via trade/cut/retirement. I'm expecting us to sign Joe to a Roethlisberger type deal, Joe Linta would laugh Oz out of the room if he even mentioned a Brady type deal...
  10. not bad at all for a raw 4th round pick.
  11. As long as Shaq Lawson doesn't flop like the last bigtime DE from Clemson. Bowers had great stats in his senior year as well and turned out to be a bum. Tough to say but I think a top corner or pass rusher is the best way to go 1st round unless Treadwell is too tough to pass on.
  12. And now here you are bringing it up LOL! Still one of the biggest worst FO moves no matter how you slice it. I know Mr Flacco would agree.
  13. Oh how we seem to have already forgotten the Seattle game, which was the worst game of the season by our defense. I'm not opposed to bringing this guy back to compete for a spot but we should aspire to have a better option for a starting corner.
  14. Don't get me wrong here because I love the way Osemele plays but right now the biggest problem with Monroe is his durability. Before being traded here he missed something like 2 games in 4 years. Osemele has already missed most of a season due to back surgery and seems to miss games for recurring knee problems as well. I don't think we can afford a deal he will command either considering we have already been feeling the cap pinch in recent years.
  15. Let's just avoid the whole Shaub convo altogether lol
  16. Agree to disagree I guess. Flacco's 17 total TD's to 14 turnovers through 10 games, most of it done before half of the offense went on IR, doesn't tell a story of someone lighting it up like you suggest. Flacco has, and likely always will be, wildy inconsistent in the regular season.
  17. A good read, thanks!
  18. So I take it you didn't actually watch the games then? Mallet made alot of major league throws out there with what little talent we still had left around him and deserves some credit. Mallet got his first start after being on the team for 12 days while McCarron sat behind Dalton for a year and a half, give your head a shake if you think they are even worthy of comparison at this point.
  19. Agree completely. The 10 yard split is the best to watch for linemen but for some reason alot of teams seem to hold alot of stock in the 40 time. Personally I want to see a guy who can bend with leverage and turn the corner, then that closing speed is actually worth something.
  20. I hope he comes back strong, but not under the existing deal. Something tells me the surprisingly strong play of Mallet is going to light a fire under Joe.
  21. I think if you look at our last 3 drafts those assets are going to start paying dividends. 2013 - Brandon Williams, Wagner, Juszcyzk, Jensen, Lewis-Moore all starting to contribute and I'm not quite ready to give up on Elam or Art Brown yet either. 2014 - Mosely, Jernigan, Brooks, Gillmore, Urschel, Urban all playing meaningful snaps with Taliaferro and Campanaro showing potential. 2015 - Max Williams, Carl Davis, Zadarrius Smith, Javorius Allen and Nick Boyle all look like good NFL players. Now if Perriman and Tray Walker also produce last years class could be the cornerstone of our turnaround. I've been pretty surprised with how terrible this year has went for us but I think we have plenty of talent here and with early picks in next years draft (the highest we've picked in my years watching is Suggs at 10) it could be a very quick turnaround. Just my 2 cents.
  22. #10, and he only slid that far because he ran a terribly slow 40
  23. Now if only the jets can take it to Buffalo next week and make sure the squeelers stay home for the tournament!! A great team effort for all 3 phases
  24. http://overthecap.com/position/cornerback/ He is currently 6th in the league in yearly average, behind only Revis, Sherman, Peterson, Haden and Maxwell(LOL). I think he's worth it personally, I haven't seen him picked on in any one game since Amari Cooper torched him early in the year. But to your original point, he does seem to be everyone's scapegoat over the last few weeks for some reason..
