The ugliest win I've ever seen.
I don't know how I'm supposed to feel right now...
I can't even...
I name kentucky bourbon the MVP of this game.
I don't want to feel anymore.
I saw this coming... What I don't understand is that the reports were that there wasn't any damage to the knee. So what on earth did they do surgery on?
....sigh.
Just saw he re-aggravated it trying to run in warm ups....
There are several steps to dealing with someone in football.
1. Anger... This board pretty much bypasses it all the time because so many pessimists live here.
2. Denial. He can't be gone right?
3. Talking yourself out of it. "He's not good enough anyway"
4. Realization.
5. Acceptance
You have to include bargaining in there somewhere! "We need to trade for x player to replace y player."
Yes he is OLD. A situational slow, old. washed up guy is the best they could find???
With the proper scheme he could make an impact. James Harrison is still doing damage for our division rivals....
I don't know Suggs' medical history but I recall reading that he has good genes or something and is a fast healer. Granted you could say that could be bs or even that he's older so he might not heal as fast now.
What I'll say is from what I've seen from Suggs, I think he'll be back next year for sure unless he physically can't recover. I believe he can. The Achilles tear isn't the death sentence it used to be and he already knows how to recover from it. I'm sure Dr Anderson in NC will treat him again.
What I know from the previous tear is that he healed in an insanely short period of time. Doctors said he's now the new benchmark for recovering from that type of injury.
However.... I've gotten vibes that some people are skeptical that he did it without the use of drugs to help speed the healing process. What I do know is that his body is that much older now.
As much as I like Suggs and it sucks he got hurt , he has come into camp the last two seasons out of shape . This is a known fact . Last year he had a 1/2 sack the first 6 games and like 10 the last half of the season . I suspect he was gonna mimic last year . He was a complete no factor in the Broncos game . We may have seen his last game as a Raven . I'm wondering if it was the same Achilles he tore playing basketball several years ago . Anyone know ?
The first tear was on his right leg. The one he tore Sunday was on his left leg.
I'm extremely excited for this guy. Great hands and catch radius. Big-bodied and physical down the middle target. Good physical blocker. Has an insane family lineage of athletes to boot. He'll be great for this team and system.
Better change that to UCF before the Hurricanes fans disown you.
One interesting point you didn't bring up directly (but I thought was kind of a sub-point so I thought I'd raise it here) is that he's a pick that seriously deviates from our model of players we usually like (lower-risk, fantastic value kind of pick). There's gotta be a reason for that, something we really like to warrant spending a first on him.
Time will tell, but hopefully he becomes a real gun that can take over games when we need him to.
I believe the reason we took him was that he's a prototype receiver for Trestman's system.
One thing everyone is forgetting is the for. Perriman is the exact type of WR we want with Trestman and Joe
You're exactly right. Big bodied and fast are what is needed in Trestman's system. Perriman fits the bill.
Here's what I know/think I know:
-I trust our front office to the utmost
-If Marcus Peters was on the board he would be a Raven, but neither he nor Johnson were making it anywhere near us
-Breshad Perriman has all the tools to be the best receiver in Ravens history and one of the best in the league on the high end; a bigger, stronger, faster Torrey Smith (which was the difference last year, not on one play but over the course of the season) on average; or a colossal bust on the low end
-We had our pick of Strong, Dorsett and Perriman, telling me that our board values measurables and interviews more than I thought they did
He was ranked at 14-15 on our big board. That's pretty darn high.
At this point anybody is better than our current option in Gino. I'll hold any excitement till I see him with the other 4 on the line but I'm optimistic.
They are risky to Ozzie because his scouts and himself don't do a good job of evaluating the Receivers. and always when in doubt Ozzie picks a defensive player. Notice when he picked guys like Courtney Upshaw (Alshon Jeffries was available), Sergio Kindle (he moved down from 25, Dez bryant was picked 24 (via trade with N.E.) and Demaryius Thomas went 22 (via trade with N.E.). Man am I pissed Ozie couldn't move up two freaking spots for one of those guys? And we end up with Sergio Kindle who broke his crown like humpty-dumpty.
The Dez pick wasn't his fault. They wanted Dez bad but Dallas swooped in to take him before us. And I think Hostler being gone will do good things... that guy wasn't good at his job IMHO.
And I would happily take any one of them in the second round. My personal feelings on Mike Evans are that he is completely an upside player - he has a raw skill set, and that's it. It's going to be 2-3 years before he's an every day contributor, and he has a very high bust potential. What he did in college will not translate to the professional level, and I don't think he'll be one of the best receivers in this draft class. Being 6'5" isn't everything.
Tommy Streeter concurs.
I've been watching this free agency from a distance but I'd like to say that Steve Smith is a classic Ozzie pickup if it does occur.
1. Right player right time. We need a go-to slot and move the chains type guy. His physical style also has play like a Raven written all over it.
2. At his age and declined production he should be affordable.
3. We replace the veteran presence in the WR corp that we lost with Boldin's departure.
4. Most noteworthy in my eyes is that Smith was CUT by Caroline which means Ozzie won't lose one of his coveted compensatory draft picks.
You realize the Panthers OC last season was Mike "Wildcat in the Redzone" Shula, right?
The guy who went six weeks without a TD while OC in Tampa.... the guy who couldn't win at Alabama.... the guy who can't figure out deep routes don't work against an 8 man rush.
Even Jerry Rice would put up pedestrian numbers in that offense.
With a track record like that why on earth does he still have a job? Because of his dad?

From Cam Cameron, to saying Chudz is still available, to it being a slap in the face that Kubiak came here.
The slap in the face tirade was entertaining. It's also true. Kubs saw what Cleveland had and then promptly came here lol
And now their best hope is a guy that is essentially our leftovers.
I saw Aaron Wilson on twitter saying that Kubiak had no interest in being The Browns offensive coordinator.
Poor Cleveland.

I feel like I should mention the Lee Evans debacle from 2011. We trade for a promising wideout only to have him injure his ankle early and then be inactive for the majority of the season.
Everybody's body heals differently. While it's beyond frustrating there is no doubt in my mind that he'll return as soon as he's able. I'm sure he wants to be out there as much as all of us.
What I'm concerned about is his future... If it takes this long for him to recover from a sprain then I can't help but worry about his recovery time for possible injuries down the road in his career. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about his long-term durability.
