If they dumped him for something as low as a 6th that must mean the talks were going NOWHERE and OZ scrambled to get at least something for him. The positive? At least he's not playing in the AFC.

This is fine and all, but what happens when some head coach needy team poaches Caldwell after next season and the glue that holds the offense together suddenly disappears. We all saw what happened when we went from an atrocious playcaller to a good one. This offense could easily retrogress if we make another mistake on the hiring Cam in 2008 level...We can't put all our eggs in one basket. The key to winning Lombardis is balance. We aren't going to win with an elite defense and mediocre offense (we tried that for a decade). And we aren't going to win with an elite offense and mediocre defense (New England has been trying that for 8 years). We have to spread the money around and solidify the positions on both sides of the ball that need it or we are left with glaring holes at key positions. i.e. the focus on keeping Ellerbe at the possible expense of Boldin. We are deep at receiver... not so much at mlb.

The coaches see these guys practice EVERY SINGLE DAY. They are in the best position to evaluate who sees the field. If the FO and coaching staff decide that the money going to Boldin can be spent better elsewhere, and that our stable of WRs can make the grade, then we should trust them in their decision making. They're highly paid professionals for a reason.

Doss is going into his third year. He's had time to learn the offense and gain a rapport with Joe. It's time to let the kid have his shot. The same goes for LaQuan and David. Both have loads of talent. Now that Cam is out of the picture I see the younger guys getting their looks on offense. Doss was a terror at Indiana and I'm sticking by him until he shows me something to feel otherwise.
