  1. I dont know about the Torrey Smith comparison but when I look at Lee he reminds me of Derrick Mason .
  2. I agree Torrey should be use in same fashion as Brown but Brown in my opinion is a pretty good route runner and he seems to be better at beating press man coverage than Torrey but it may not be fair to compare them because one being use correctly more than the other. I hope the new offensive coordinator definitely use Torrey in the same fashion as Brown
  3. He's definitely interesting but I have no idea what kind of offense he would run.
  4. I hope it is him to and it would make alot of sense especially when you can add Gary Kubiak as the qb coach then former texans running back coach chick harris.
  5. I was surprised when I saw that especially considering that some of the offensive staff members were at the senior bowl evaluating talent.
  6. I heard he was a good offensive coordinator but i don't like the fact that he runs a air corydell offense.
  7. Thats cool . Derrick Mason had a good relationship with Jim Hostler they probably were friends and if thats the case then its understandable why he would endorse him . I like how he said Hostler coaching help him out alot when he thought that he was at the stage of his career when it seem like theres was nothing else to learn. Theres really nothing with having a player friendly coach and I think players respond better to coaches they like but at the same time it doesn't make you a better play caller or equal success. I'm sure there have been offensive coordinators or defensive coordinator that were loved by their players but just weren't good at calling plays.
  8. Im not saying Mike Evans needs to be a masterful route runner to gain separation or to be good but height and size isnt everything and if it was guys like Jonathan Baldwin, Stephen Hill, Brian Quick and etc would have been great receivers by now. Vincent Jackson was even a raw receiver and didn't start making a name for him self until his fourth year. Mike Evans indeed shows things that we alll may like but at the end of the day I see a receiver whom dominated against weaker cornerbacks and struggled against more physical cornerbacks which showed when he went up against cornerbacks from Lsu and Missouri . I would have loved to see how he would faired against more talented/better cornerbacks but he really didn't last year .
  9. If Flacco is this good now imagine how he would be with a real oc that he can actually grow alot with.
  10. I heard so much about this guy but when i watched him play i saw a guy whom struggled against physical cornerbacks, he's not a good route runner, probably should have stayed in school to work on his craft, yes he can be physical but it seem like when the opposing cornerback is just as physical he will try stunts like pushing the cornerback down which is a penalty in the nfl, he has deceptive speed but he may have a hard time gaining separation in the nfl atleast in his rookie year, and he overall pretty raw . I think there are some risk in drafting Mike Evans in the first round because he's raw but The Ravens will have to have full faith in their receiver coach to help bring this kid up(Ozzie called him the one of the best receiver coach).
  11. \ you make a good point but Jim Hostler also was helping Jim Caldwell with the offensive game plans last year. Hes the receiver coach and he should know his receivers alot more than any body but yet he contribute to the mess we had on offense and lack of usage of using our receivers to their strength.
  12. overall you dont like Mike Shanahan but maybe you should realize that his son is different from him.
  13. sounds like the perfect guy for the job
  14. The Ravens drafted Smith in the second round, Doss in the fourth round( he was considered a second round pick before his injury ) David Reed in fifth round , Tommy Streeter in sixth round and Aaron Mellete in seventh round. In my opinion Streeter and Mellete are/were the projects but some reason or another Doss or Reed didn't reach the expectation of the coaches. When the Ravens traded Boldin they had to believe that one or two of their young receivers were going to step their game up along with Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones . I think you can basically say that Ozzie and a John challenge Hostler because they had high expectation for Doss, Reed (when he was here),Thompson,, Williams(when he was here), and Streeter(when he was here) to fill in that number 3 spot but none them really step up . I know Reed and Thompson was dealing with some injuries but through out training camp none of the young receivers step up which led to them signing Stokley . I know some of that can be the fault of the players but it also has to be the fault of the coach as well and I think Hostler would have lost the challenge or maybe his job if Marlon Brown didnt play the way he did last season. Torrey Smith did reach the 1,000 receiving yard mark but he only had 4 touchdowns and caught 47% of his passes. He even had his moments when he had trouble getting open against low level cornerbacks that were using press man coverage also having trouble locating the deep baller. I think some of that can be on Torrey but Hostler has to take blame for that. Overall I think a new offensive coordinator like Gary Kubiak or any other offensive coordintor that brings something totally new to the offense should help the receivers alot but it also will be up to Hostler to get these guys up to speed especially if the ravens run a west coast offense in which consist of timed routes and consistently require receivers to on the same page with the quarterback alot more than our previous offensive system. Oh yeah well Hostler may just be offensive coordintor and wont have to worry about none of this
  15. Leach already shown his endorsement for Kubiak as the Ravens offensive coordinator but i have no idea how Jones would feel about it . I like Kyle Shanahan as well and The Ravens could probably hired both Kubiak and Kyle but have one as the offensive coorindinator and the other as the quarterback coach . I think that would be a great move for the Ravens and either one in my opinion should help the offense in a positive way.
  16. I think we had a good team and to lose some many key players but still be in the playoff hunt is impressive to me . The offense just wasn't good enough last year but i i expect it to be much better next season.
  17. Of course theres been talk about Brad Childress being a optiion because of the history him and Harbaugh had but honestly thats just reporters making a educated guess. I think i could have came up with that on my own but it doesn't mean it will happen and it hasn't happen atleast not now. I thnk our aggression and fire was still there last year it may not have been as as strong like it was in 2012 but what the Ravens went through is really not nothing other teams haven't been through after winning a super bowl.
  18. The last time i check the ravens haven't interviewed Childress at all or shown any interest. I think the idea that Harbaugh wants the Ravens to be like eagles is pretty overrated.
  19. I look around the internet about him i hope the rumors about him being a control freak isnt true but overall i think he would be a nice offensive coordintor for The Ravens.
  20. Come on that can't be totally true and honestly whats wrong with play action when you have one of the best running backs in the league. I know you like Norv but overall he's really no different from Cam Cameron it will basically be the same offense just with some wrinkles . Fans will still be screaming out wheres the slants and short passes ,Torrey Smith/other receiver will still be running deep as usual, there will still be more isolation routes as usual, and Flacco won't be giving more control of the offense( Rivers definitely didn't when Norv was the offensive coordinator ),. Overall if the Ravens do hired Norv thats cool but I think its time to move away from the Air Corydell
  21. Funny cause what you said about Kubiak is the samething that has been said about Norv. I"m pretty tired of Flacco been labeled as a quarterback that can only throw it deep and honestly just because Kubiak runs a west coast offense doesn't mean he wont be able to take advantage of Flacco so called biggest attributes aka his arm strength. When Norv was the head coach of the chargers there were fans calling for his head and best believe they didnt care too much about his play calling either.
  22. Kubiak didnt call the plays in denver but he still gets the credit regardless.
  23. I want receiver that is crafty route runner, plays aggressive, try to get open no matter what, that's consistently on the same page with the quarterback, fight for the ball and eventually catches it,a solid blocker, and a leader . The ravens haven't had that since Mason and receiver doesn't have to 6'3" or 6'5" to have these traits
  24. When Zorn was here Flacco had four former pro bowler to throw the ball to matter of fact probably the most intelligent receivers he has ever worked with because He had Boldin, Mason, Housh, and Heap whom all in my opinion were solid route runners.
  25. So lets say nobody hires him as a head coach if you are John Harbaugh do you let Caldwell go or do you play it smart and decide to keep him as the offensive coordinator or quarterback coach?
