  1. I'm not the biggest fan of Oher, and I'm not defending him here, but put yourself in his shoes and try to look at it from his perspective.

It doesn't excuse his play on the field but I think it would suck, (at least for me anyway) constantly being under a microscope because of that movie.

Being an underwhelming first round pick/kind of a disappointment doesn't help his case though neither.

That's the way I think. He is much better than a lot of players out there but he draws so much attention.  The movie made him out to be the next superstar and so he is unable to just be average.  He isn't a terrible right tackle.

  2. Ozzie traded down..

He coulda had gronk who i considered a better version of heap. I wanted gronk and pitta ( hernandez wad the 3rd option and thank god that didn't happen

Ozzie was going to take Gronk but NE traded up.  32 teams passed so its not a knock on Ozzie.  Since most of your predictions are wrong its fair to assume Bresad will do well.

  3. We clearly didn't watch the same games last season. Marlon Brown was far from horrendous. Everybody wants to talk about how he regressed from this rookie season. That makes sense in the fantasy football driven world, but in the real world where teams are made and games are won, Marlon Brown was much better last season then his rookie year. He was more polished and sure of himself. He's always had solid hands imo and last year he improve on it. He had a streak of like 18 straight passes thrown in his direction were caught. Considering the guy only had about 24 catches that's pretty impressive.

Also it was Marlon Brown that stepped up towards the end of the season was Torrey was slowed by injury and Smitty needed help. In the fantasy world Marlon Brown regressed because he didn't match his totals from his rookie year. However in reality Marlon Brown improved as a player. The only thing that regressed with Marlon Brown was his opportunities because a guy named Steve Smith showed up and he's pretty good.

In 2013 Brown was targeted 80 times while in 2014 he was only targetd 42 times. In 2013 Brown had a catch% of 59.8 while in 2014 he had a catch% of 71%. Yea he didn't follow up on his 7TDs in 2013 bt he also wasn't targeted a single time while in the Red zone in 2014. You have a 6'5" guy with good hands and toughness i think it'd be pretty smart to get th ball in his area while in the red zone. You have him as #4 at WR, he's my #2.

You don't find it a problem that he was only targeted 42 times as opposed to 80?  His offensive snaps went from 791 to 375.  While that is a huge jump, his overall percentage of targets dropped by a percentage point.  That says to me he is not getting open.  Campanaro and Aiken performed much better given their # of snaps.

  4. The hope is that he's ready to go in 2 months, but he'd still have to hit the field and he'll be behind everyone else. Also the the 3rd and 4th weeks of camp is more so the time where u start to focus on game plans and where each guy fits in the offense moreso then prove yourself. Again the coaches may wanna try to retain him by going the pup route because he's no lock.

That's a good question. By it being voluntarily and not much interaction with coaches it may not apply. Both Pitta and Brooks were dressed for practice and i don't think either is cleared for contact yet so both will at least start camp on PUP i think.

I know if u practice during any point in camp u aren't eligible for PUP, but i don't think OTAs count.

I don't see it.  The coaches want to see if he can stay healthy.  We know he is better than most of our other slot guys.  He is also one of the few returners we have.  If he's ready to go, start him day 1 and see if he can make it through camp without injury.  We know he can play and I'd throw him ahead of Marlon Brown given his production in significantly fewer snaps.

    1. Steve Smith

    2. Breshad Perriman

    3. Aiken

    4. Brown*

    5.Waller

    6.Carter or Camp

This is my predicted depth chart at receiver for the start of the season.  As of now, I don't see Marlon Brown as a lock.  He gets #4 from experience but the guy was horrendous last season.  If Camp can't stay healthy, he could be cut or thrown on IR at the start of the season.

I'm a fan of Lewis Moore and was before we drafted him, but his history of leg, and knee injuries in particular, are very concerning. I'm hopeful but not very optimistic.

Even if he does stay healthy he's a shell of his former self at this point.  He could have been first round talent if not for his injuries.

  6. i'm excited about this signing as any ravens fan, but some writer brought up an intersting point, from this article from Russell street report , why would the pats release the CB? whats the reason ? they couldn't have released him b/c of $3 mill?  hmmm........................

Because he is a slot corner and they believe they have a guy who can play as well for much cheaper.

  7. Great signing, We might be in a pardicament though. Kyle should ONLY play slot, if he does that the outside will be played by Smith and Webb, Webb didn't exactly do good playing outside last season, especially we went against the steelers(regular season and playoffs).

Webb battled injuries last season and had to play #1.  If we can get through the season with these 3 healthy we should be in great shape for the playoffs.

  8. Strong has a high chance and I'd be down right shocked if Devin Smith was off the board. That being said, the more and more I look at Smith, the more he looks like what Torrey should have been. He runs the deep ball just as good as Torrey but has great hands and fights for the balls. Looks to be able to run the whole route tree. I think we should pull the trigger on him unless we get a really good trade back offer or a guy like Malcolm Brown, Marcus Peters, or Alvin Dupree is still on the board (which I doubt).

I don't expect Ozzie to move any more than 5 spots as it would be way to expensive.  If we do pick at 26, I just don't see WR being BPA.  I wouldn't be surprised if Ozzie does his typical move and drafts an Edge rusher to develop for when Doom and Sizz are over the hill.

We have a lot of ammo in this draft and we would be better off trading up in the 2nd for a receiver than trying to jump a bunch of teams in the 1st or pick a guy who is not near BPA.

  9. if he signs, thats just one more team ahead of us that is less likely to draft a WR.

i had devante parker going to either the browns or miami, if they can both be scratched off the list i think parker is in official "trade up" territory, althought a bidding war may be imminent

Unfortunately I disagree.  Teams like to have a vet #1/2 guy along with rookie receivers to help smooth the transition.  Any receiver worth taking will probably be off the board when we pick besides DGB.

  10. What would a realistic deal with Bowe/Britt look like?

    4 years 15-16 mill?

Hell no.  The price isn't unrealistic but 4 years is too much.  The guys finger doesn't work.  With Flacco's arm strength that thing is going to need to be amputated.

  11. We still need a lineman to replace Canty. And we're we trying Urban at OLB or am I tripping?

Canty is a DE.  We have a lot of guys on the interior D-line but we will probably wait until a veteran is cut later on.  Besides, Ozzie usually hits on interior linemen late in the draft and we just got a 4th and a 5th.

    0

  12. What do you think Jordan Cameron's price tag is?  Though with the Pitta injury, we may be better off looking for someone more durable.

We will probably go for a veteran corner and some D-line cuts later on in free agency.

  13. Apparently, the FO doesn't agree. If they felt that way, he'd have gotten a 2nd round tender to keep teams away from him.

I like to think of it more as not bidding against ourselves.  The Bills gave McCoy a huge deal before the market had a chance to decide what he was worth.  Teams may be less interested due to his prior history.

We could only find out his true value to the FO based on whether or not we match an offer should another team give him one.

    0

  14. Interesting to see The Ravens gave Will Hill a low tender.

I was a little surprised but I understand the logic.  The tender allows us to keep him at a very low price and still gives us the chance to match another teams offer.

I doubt a team would go after him with any sort of long term deal or something we can't match due to his history and the fact that his next suspension would be an entire season.

If a team does come in I don't think Ozzie would hesitate to match the offer within reason.  He's more valuable to us than other teams out there.

  15. Flowers won't go to the Pats.. they already have Revis, Browner, Dennard, Arrington. What's the point of having starting caliber guys like Dennard and Arrington getting paid good money to get buried on the depth chart and barley play? Move wouldn't make much sense on the Pats end, it's not a move that maximizes the players they already have and just sounds like a media driven headline. They may have contacted Flowers but that's really not that uncommon when a player of his caliber get's cut, then the media just ran with it because they "contacted him".

Big difference between preliminary contact and being legitimately interested in signing him

If he is smart he would go somewhere that already has some good corners.  Keep the pressure off of him after a poor season.  Have a top corner already on the team so he isn't forced to cover the opposing teams best receiver.  Guy is already 32 and if he wants to stay in the league he shouldn't try to be a teams franchise corner.

  16. That's about as silly a comparison as I've ever heard. You might want to look up the definition/meaning of the word "starter". What you just said makes no sense whatsoever.

Regardless of the comparison you are still totally incorrect.  A backup position means you backup the player in case they go down.  The nickel spot is it's own position.  The same way a Will linebacker is not really the backup for the Mike linebacker.  They are largely separate positions.

You have two outside corners and a nickel corner.  The rest are backups.  You don't equate playing time to whether a player is a starter.

    0

  17. But I'm not talking about playing time. I realize that in today's NFL the nickel corner is playing a lot, just like slot receivers do. But in the classical sense it's a backup job, because you don't line up out there 90-95% of the time. The #1 or #2 corner does. The starting safeties do. The nickel corner only makes it on the field in sub packages, when they substitute players, to match the offense if they line up with more than 2 receivers or a TE split out wide for instance. That's not a true starting job and you know that. Darren Sproles is getting a lot of playing time but he's a backup, he's not a true starting tailback. A backup is not just somebody that doesn't get ANY playing time (Tyrod). To me it's somebody who doesn't line up out there all the time, 90-95% of the time maybe, and only makes it on the field in certain situations. Nickel back, slot receiver, pass rushing specialists (Suggs as a rookie, just because he got a lot of playing time doesn't mean he was a starter), run stuffer (Cody) and so on. Pride is what will keep Flowers from accepting a job as a 3rd corner. But we will see I guess.

It is a "true starting job".  That's like saying Suggs isn't a starter because he sits on the sidelines for a lot of plays.  A backup is a reserve player in case someone goes down.  Being a nickel corner is NOT a backup job.  Especially with all the great slot receivers as mentioned before.

  18. But, if we bring him in now, we won't know what the young guys can do. I'd rather wait until later in August to make a move like that.

I doubt Asa or Chykie will develop into a player better than Flowers.  We'd be lucky if they managed to be as good as he is.  I'd rather just take Flowers now rather than having to suffer through their learning curves to see if they MIGHT be as good as he is.

  19. ward off the boards at 30, and I was PRAYING for ozzie to trade up to NE or SF and take ward, and boom, SF takes him. so, what in the hell are we gonna do about safety now???

I understandmosley may have been your BPA, but FS is such a ridiculously big need for us, that I just don't see how we passed up both of the safeties. where else are we gonna address this? pick up a scrub or washed up vet who gets cut after training camp so he can come in and be a liability? I know Terrence brooks wont be ozzies BPA in the 2nd, and he wont be there in the 3rd, so we either trust darian stewart(which I don't) or we go with elam at FS again and waste his talent.

HAHAHA.  I love people like you.  Talk about the draft like you know everything when you really know nothing.  Whelp.  We got Brooks in the 3rd soooo.

  20. Assuming you mean Rolando (and not the cake mould...), I agree.

With regard to another thread here, how well would he fit if we went to the 4-3?

Not well. One of the big reasons why he struggled with the Raiders.  I wouldn't play him if we ran a 4-3.

  21. Russell St. Report ‏@RussellStReport 4 hrs

Source says Stewart is a possible starter if #Ravens don't get a good FS in draft. They think he's better than Dig, more rangy < physical

I wouldn't mind having Stewart or one of the young guys like Omar Brown starting at safety.  It is really the only position on defense which is up in the air.  Every other part is pretty solid.  I won't be disappointed if we draft a safety in the 1st or 2nd round with plans to have him compete.

Not the end of the world.
