  1. Same here. Just make it late enough for those of us who have work to have an equal shot at every team.
  2. I think that is a good idea. That was a pretty good indicator last year of who would be active. When are we picking teams? Are we still doing a top 3 list?
  3. Might I suggest giving preference in sign-ups to those who have participated for the last few years? We had a number of new guys who did not really participate last year and one way to avoid that would be to give preference to those who played and were active previously. Not sure how it would work, just a thought.
  4. It's cool. Odd is better and 9 people would be too many.
  5. Cool. Do I still have a spot on the CoCo or is it full?
  6. This Super Bowl is over. When do signups start?
  7. I'm all for restructuring if we can find a way to do it that is realistic. For example, even if we can restructure 1 contract, what is to stop the Ravens owner, for example, from restructuring Flacco's contract down to 1 star even if it would never happen in real life? What kind of system do you propose?
  8. I'd also like to add to my first proposal: To get your ability to match 3 FA bids, you must first use your franchise tag on another player.
  9. True and I do think that if we want to be 100% realistic we would keep it the same. I just think the process would be more enjoyable for everyone if we did it this way.
  10. I have a few suggestions for improvements to the game. 1) I think one thing about our FA process that is unrealistic is that teams lack the ability to work out extensions with their own FAs. With a few exceptions, most times a player will sign with his original team unless somebody can pay them more. Therefore, I propose giving each team the ability to match a winning FA bid to retain their own guys 3 times throughout the FA bidding process. I think this would add quite a bit of realism to the mock offseason. 2) I also think we should have the draft before the FA process. My reasoning is that the draft is most people's preferred method of team building and FA is used to fill any open gaps, not vice versa. This would keep teams from going as wild in FA because they don't know who is gonna be there when they pick.
  11. Perhaps after signups all 32 owners could vote on 3 or 5 people to be put on a commissioner committee? Aside from 7 being a lot of people I feel like all owners should get a say in who is in charge.
  12. When did this happen? I vote the dream team should be the committee
  13. I thought mock offseason was after the SB, then draft a franchise was after that?
  14. The only 2 I can really address in this post are Long and Brinkley. I've followed Long since college and I still believe he has skills in run defense. He was dominant at UVa against the run. The problem is that the Rams usually have him pin his ears back and rush the QB. At 280 he has perfect size to be a Trevor Pryce type of 5 tech and he has the strength and motor to hold up against the run. Asking him to play a more disciplined game will lead to better run D performance imo and playing across from Ware there shouldn't be much, if any, drop off in sacks when passing downs come. As for Brinkley I expect him to improve in his role in my D because he fits better as a 3-4 ILB than a 4-3 MLB. Instead of chasing down runners sideline to sideline (that role will be filled by Wheeler) he can play strictly as a 2 down thumper in the box. He has good strength and instincts but lacks the lateral mobility to succeed in the open field. That is where most of his missed tackles come from. He won't do nearly as much of that in my defense.
  15. I suppose that is fair, although I don't see my run defense being as bad as you make it out to be. Dareus is a young player who is still improving; he should develop into a plus run defender. Bryant was injured for most of last season but when healthy is one of the best run stuffers out there. I also feel like Long, Brinkley, and Wheeler will be better against the run due to their roles in my defense. PFF stats are excellent but you can't look at them in a vacuum, there are other factors at play. I also think my secondary is better than decent. It isn't elite but it is solid and well above average.
  16. I feel like 10 is a little low for my team. It is a pretty balanced group without any glaring weaknesses and also possesses a few strengths that can take games over. On offense Kaepernick is a bit raw but he is already a well above average QB who is dangerous as a runner and solid (and improving) as a passer. Stewart has some of the best measurables in the league, is young with fresh legs, and has been itching for a bigger role for a while now. He is more than capable of being a feature back and could put up top 10 rushing numbers in my offense. He and Kaep have potential to be elite when it comes to the read option. Brown, Floyd, and McCluster isn't a great WR group by any means, but they complement each other well and will be helped out a lot defenses accounting for the read option. Fasano is a balanced TE who can do a bit of everything. My line is very solid, with an elite LT and C in Roos and Wisniewski, a very solid RT in Herremans, and very promising guards with Boothe and Hudson. Defense is my team's strong suit and I think it is an elite one. Ware and Long are probably the best pass rushing duo of any team and are good enough combine for 30 sacks themselves. Dareus looks like a future superstar inside and Red Bryant is a great run stuffer when healthy (which he should be this year). Acho and Wheeler are versatile LBs who are strong at both blitzing and dropping into coverage. They should combine for 12+ sacks and 5+ ints in my organized chaos type of defense. Brinkley struggled as a 4-3 MLB but he looks promising as a pure thumper ILB in a 3-4. The secondary isn't as good as the front 7 but they will be solid and should benefit from opposing QBs having little time to throw. Hall is a legitimate #1 CB who can play inside and outside. Trufant is unproven but looks like a potential #1. Robinson had a rough year in NO but he has shown some flashes and will benefit from a reduced role as a #3 who will move Hall inside in nickel situations. Nelson is one of the best coverage FS in the game and Chung is a jack of all trades type of player at SS. This team will win games by keeping possession of the ball with a lot of read option plays and shutting down the opposition with a fearsome pass rush once the lead is secured. If it falls behind, Kaepernick has shown the ability to lead a big time comeback with worse pass catchers than what he has here, and Long/Ware/Dareus will force a lot of mistakes. I think it is absolutely a title contender and deserves a place in the top 5. That's just me though, thanks for taking the time to do all of this analysis.
  17. We're doing 26, you have 1 more pick
  18. Donnie Jones is a fantastic pick. That's who I wanted. Back to the drawing board...
  19. My staff: HC: Jim Harbaugh (not as good as his brother but a great coach in his own right and I'd like to keep him with Kaepernick) OC: Darrell Bevell (creative OC who did great work with Wilson and could run a similar offense with Kaep) DC: Mike Nolan (lots of experience with hybrid schemes and different defensive fronts, such as the 06 Ravens which I modeled my own defense around)
  20. He spent a lot of time shadowing other teams' #1 last year, although it can be debated who was actually the #1 CB. That whole defense was terrible last year but like you said, Robinson has flashed a lot of potential and I think he's great as the #3 CB on a team.
  21. Glad Robinson made it to me. He struggled last year as a #1 CB but that isn't his role in my defense. He is my #3 CB and will play outside on passing downs while Leon Hall moves inside to the slot. His ability in press-man should serve my heavy-pressure defensive scheme very well in limited reps.
  22. Knighton is a great pick at this point. He has conditioning issues but he is a great run stuffer and an underrated pass rusher for a player his size. Gabe has my pick so hopefully the draft will be kept moving while I'm at work/out drinking after work.
  23. Does anyone want my pick? I have work in 1 hour.
  24. Good pick. I like him as an ILB, you can't do much better at this point.
  25. No thinking allowed, just take Mark Sanchez
