I think a guy that gets looked over a lot on the forums is Corey Coleman. Everyone is very public about his drive to win at everything he does, and you can see in his instinct as a competitor.
I think the terms playmaker and vocal leaders get mixed up and used interchangeably when in my mind they are very different. I think the latter is what this team really needs which is why Jalen Ramsey is a guy that a lot of people will talk about up until the draft. When we had Ray Lewis and Ed Reed on defense our team was great, we made average defensive players look great. This wasn't just because we had playmakers (which we certainly had more of and are lacking), but it was because we had those guys as vocal leaders on our team that could get the guys fired up and ready to play at 150% of their talent level. We need someone out on the field to motivate our guys.
I believe the guy Charles is referring to is the RB from Oklahoma St., Samaje Perine.
do you know what number picks they have
They have picks 15, 42, and 48
I view value as the players talent supersedes the draft spot. That's why you can find "value" later in the draft, as opposed to having solid picks at the top
I knew after last night the Howard bandwagon would fill up fast. Having invested in Crocket, Maxx, and Boyle even ignoring the fact that Pitta may return, we have plenty of TEs and adding another one seems like a waste IMO.
As far as things I did like seeing in the Bowl game, I loved that I kept seeing Jayron Kearse trying to chase people down on the way to the end zone. I think he played poorly enough to be had in the second for us
I think Ozzie's Bama connection often is miscategorized. Ozzie has a thing for drafting champions. Just take a look back, even recently with Brooks and Jernigan coming from Florida State. It's really hard to instill that winning culture into people, and it's much easier if they've already tasted that sucess and victory
With that being said I hope that Clemson wins so we take a hard look at guys like Jayron Kearse or Mackenzie Alexander.
I think the biggest wrench could be the Browns. For some reason I have a feeling that if Chip doesn't go to the Titans and reunites with Mariota that he will go to Cleveland where they might give him GM power and he'll try and play with Johnny football
I think Jerry Jones shocks the world and trades for Manziel and also for Sean Peyton and shakes the crap out of the draft order
Coleman being anyones favorite player in the draft is... Odd, and aside from that I love this draft, I think Coleman goes in the first as a flavor of the month pick but I don't like his Game at all.
I'm hoping Michael Thomas Finds his way here In the second but it's doubtful after we drop to the 8-12 range
He reminds me of a young steve smith. He's such a fiery competitor that feels the need to win at anything he does, and that's the mentality we bring to this team
With us beating the Steelers we are all but out of the top 5.
Round 1
Ronnie Stanley, OT: Notre Dame
Out of the running for Tunsil or Bosa, but a nice consolation prize.
Round 2
Corey Coleman, WR: Baylor
Coleman is electric and is by far my favorite player in the draft. All he seems to do is make big plays and score.
Round 3
Yannick Ngakoue, OLB: Maryland
It's been said before, but if he was at Alabama or a big name school that was winning he'd be first round no doubt
Round 3 (McPhee comp)
Karl Joseph, S: West Virginia
Had he not gotten hurt so early in the year he would have put up numbers crazy enough to push him up into the top of the draft.
Round 4
Kameli Correa, DE: Boise State
Undersized, but super athletic. Another one of my favorite players in the draft. He wins on speed and athleticism right now, but when he adds 25 pounds of muscle he could be a forced to be reckoned with after some tutelage from Elvis
Round 4
Harlen Miller, CB: South East Louisiana
Somewhat of a project CB, but we all know how Ozzie loves his mid round projects. Has the length and ball skills to warrant consideration
Round 4
Tyler Marz, OT: Wisconsin
Backed up Wagner as a Badger, and can do it again in the pros. Has great size at 6-8 320, and would be an upgrade over Hurst if need be
The more I watch Corey Coleman the more and more I fall in love with him as a prospect. I don't think he's the best in the class, but I think he's the most exciting. All the talk about trying to trade back up to 31 to get that 5th-year option this is the guy I would want
Harris Highlights uploaded a Coleman video
Probably because he's a better fit for our defense as of right now but Bosa is versatile and athletic enough to do what's asked of him. Plus you center the defense around a player like him instead of forcing him in a specific scheme.
I just feel like Buckner is only a tad more developed than Armsted was last year, and that scares me. We have plenty of D-Line depth and could develop him, but with a pick that high you want immediate impact which is something I don't see from him. At least not to the level of Bosa
I'll take Buckner over Bosa
reasons?
You seem very high on Bosa! Obviously you must have watched film on this guy. So, explain why you think he'll be the most disruptive force on a field that may include Suggs, Doom, B. Williams and Jernigan?
The biggest reason I think people are down on Bosa this year is because his numbers are down. He's facing triple teams this year. That simply can't be done in the NFL when you have to worry about everyone else. Plus a rotation of him, Suggs, and Doom would have fresh legs on the field and be ridiculous
I've found that CBS's big board tends to be one of the last ones to get updated, and never fully gets it right up until the end. I'll use them as a reference, but never as my sole board
Smith strikes me as a pure 4-3 OLB, but him in the middle of a 3-4 and he'll probably get caught up in all that traffic
It's always possible. There's so many holes on this team and a real lack of depth that we could double up anywhere (outside of QB, Punter, and Kicker) and I wouldn't be surprised. If you take Bosa round one and a guy like Nkemdiche or Ogbah is sitting there in the second or Carl Nassib/Yannick Ngakoue is there in the third it's a no brainer.
Does anyone legitimately think ko can be a starting caliber lt? In a pinch he may be ok but I think he would get washed by the quicker and more technical rushers
I wonder if it's a ploy more that anything to hopefully drive up his price tag in FA for a better comp pick
Can we all stop with the 4-3 and just let Pees shoulder the blame instead of formation?
Boyd has a DUI is the point I'd assume but I thought Gordon's real problem was weed.
Exactly. As far as I can remember the DUI is the only flag for Boyd, which is why I don't think of him as someone with baggage.
But we've had so much success with converting 4-3OLBs in college to 3-4 MLBs... *rolls eyes at Arthur Brown*
But for real though. Myles Jack looks the real deal and pairing him with Mosely gives us a Thumper and a rangey cover duo
I'd be ok with trading back and taking Jack, mainly because I think he is even better in coverage than Smith and can actually handle himself in the run game, I think Smith will struggle there and is scheme specific as a 4-3OLB. I'm not a big fan of Smith for us, and I'd rather improve other positions but we could do much worse than myles Jack, who I think I bound to become a household name
But we've had so much success with converting 4-3OLBs in college to 3-4 MLBs... *rolls eyes at Arthur Brown*
I seem to recall two very good receivers currently facing bans for drinking (gordon, blackmon). That qb browns guy is also on his way too
Both facts, but not sure how they're relevant to Boyd?
Jones and Sanu are free agents this year iirc. Boyd is arguably Randy Gregory in that he is an elite talent in a weak draft. Cincy also has 2 safeties that are FA as are both tackles so I definitely think at least one of those is resigned and 1 of the two receivers.
Boyd isn't anywhere near Gregory in terms of issues. Gregory tested positive for marijuana and said that he didn't care and was going to keep smoking. Boyds biggest issue was a DUI if I remember correctly. Thought Bengals had more WR on their roster. As of right now they only have 3 under contract for next season
We are not drafting Tyler Boyd. He will either go to Cincy in the first round (my guess) or we will pass on him due to character concerns.
I think Buckner needs to be higher on this big board. Billings too. Way too high on Coleman
While Cincy loves to stock up on WR talent spending another first rounder with what they already have is a little over the top

You can teach the route tree, you can't teach desire. We need guys with desire. That's something I think we can all agree on
