  1. This is the same problem we had the year after the superbowl when we didnt make the playoffs. We weren't 1-5 but we were a decent team. We had let Boldin go and only relied on Torrey Smith to be our main guy. Torrey had his best statistical season then but Flacco was still stuck trying to force passes to everyone else that couldn't gain seperation which led to his high interception total. We have a bunch of young TEs that are showing potential. We have a very solid Defensive interior and MLB corps. We just need to get a more instinctive free safety cause Will Hill has been good. Lewis and our CB2 have been the problems with the big plays. We will most likely go all defense in next years early rds of the draft. Draft OLB or CB 1st rd cb/safety 2nd rd maybe guard 3rd rd then best player available after that.
  2. Turning point in our season if they come out and play well and prove they are capable options for moving the chains. I expect Aiken to have a good game. Idk if he gets a td but I expect him to get atleast 6 catches and 75 yards. Marlon I think get 4 catches for 40 yards and td. I think Flacco connects deep with Givens for a big play leading to a td. probably 3 catches 60 yards and td for him. A lot of short intermediate stuff to our TEs and Running backs this week also. 30-13 Ravens win.
  3. I also think back to the year after Anquan left and the way the offense struggled because the wr's we had couldn't get separation for Flacco to throw too. When Wr's can't even give Joe a tiny window to throw too he has to throw the ball in a way that gives them a chance to at least jump up for it and these guys being 6'3 or taller is why he has been making those risky throws. The separation problems have also led to Flacco looking a Steve Smith way to soon and often which is why at least 3 of his interceptions have happened. Also, the offensive tackles havent been allowing much time for plays to develop down field and Marc Trestman is very big on calling plays that are requiring the wrs to get 10 or 15 yards down field before comin back or cutting across the field. It just looks bad when your most reliable receiving options after SSS are you 2 youngest rookies on the team at the TE positions.
  4. People beat up on Flacco for his interceptions too much. None of our wr have done enough or fought enough to make Joe feel like he can trust them to make the play. Flacco being criticized for trying to make plays with a bunch of nobodies is ridiculous. I think Flacco has done an incredible job with mediocre talent throughout his entire career with us. We have never given him a top of the line receiver for him to gel with and get comfortable with. The worse part about it is that once he does get a receiver he trusts and likes to throw too the team lets them walk or they are old and retire. (Torrey, Anquan, Mason, Steve Smith) Steve is done after this year and we will be relying on either spending another high draft pick on a WR or spending a lot of money in free agency to get a #1. Our defense is just missing a few more pieces to become a very dominant piece in a offensive league. We need to draft defense this next draft to keep the team balanced. I expect Perriman to recover and get stronger and become a great guy for us but it will take time. I honestly wanna see the team make a trade now for a guy like Jeffery and lock him up with Perriman. Those two guys with Flacco in a Marc Trestman led offensive scheme could do some serious damage.
  5. I think the Perriman ordeal is being blown up. He's our star 1st Rd wr and we don't want him being a little banged up going into the regular season. I think they are being extra cautious with him cause we invested a lot in him. After the full contact training camp days are over and they get back into regular week preperation they will ease him back in. As long as he can run full speed in a straight line he will help us a lot during the season.
  6. The tightends look great but I was more impressed by Boyle in the 1st preseason game. He was catching everything thrown his way and his blocking was great too. Williams def has the best playmaking potential of all the TEs but you can def tell he's not as strong as the rest of these guys. He should def benefit from another year in the ravens weight room with Crockett. And of pitta miraculously gets cleared we will have best TE group in football.
  7. The one thing I liked about this preseason game was Carl davis. Seemed like every play that was being made in the backfield involved him. He stumped Tim Hightower at one point in the 3rd qtr but you could tell he was getting tired at the end of the game. He's set to be good this year but I can't wait til next season for him. A year in the playbook and in the weight room lifting and conditioning he has outstanding potential. Can't wait to see how ozzie can build this new team even more through next offseason. We have our best corners signed and some promising young safeties and we have solid lines. We'll are set to contend for quite awhile with the roster well have. Biggest worries are oline guards for next season. But with dead money off the budget after this season and Joe restructuring his deal plus cap increase we're should have plenty cap to work some stuff out.
  8. Are we forgetting the last time he came into to camp out of shape? He played terrible and kept getting injured. I'm just saying that if he is not in great shape and ends up getting injured half the season with his attitude in some of his interviews it makes me feel like this may be his last season. If he doesn't this season then I can only see him playing maybe one more. Just doesn't seem like he really wants to play into his mid 30's. Especially since he has a lot of interest in the movie business. I could really see him calling it a great career and moving on from football. If we end up winning another superbowl this year then I'd def think he and smith Sr would call it careers at the top the game.
  9. And just pay tucker the 5 mil per year. He's the best kicker in the NFL. Our record would have been 2 or 3 games worse last season if not for him. Any kicker that can kick a 64 yard game winner deserves to be paid.
  10. It's first day of practice with the whole team and our best defensive players. There is a lot more pressure on Perriman. I have a feeling he is going to have a great rookie season but we'll need to ease him into the starting role. I'm not worried about the drops. These guys get about 100 passes thrown at them everyday and we care about the 3 he didn't catch? If he is dropping passes when the pads come on and they effect the game in any significant way then be worried. It's way too soon to already bash the guys hands before he even gets a real pads thrown at him in a game.
  11. He's done after this season. He's the last of the big four and he obviously isn't handling it too well. He doesn't have anymore best friends left on the team. I understand where he is coming from. It's easier for a QB to accept all the changes every year but it's not that easy on your defensive stars especially when they start getting older and have millions in the bank. Love ya Sizz but just let the next young Sizzle play. Upshaw or one of the younger guys would be ecstatic to start on this defensive front and get to go hunt.
  12. I could def see Joe playing into his 40s as long as he doesn't take crazy amount of big hits. He gets hit far less than big ben and some other QBS mainly bc he plays for the ravens instead of against them. Lol. He is a big arm pocket passer that doesnt take a lot of hits. As long as our oline can keep him clean for a majority of his career then he should be able to keep playing for a long time. He could end up with the most wins ever by nfl qb if he stays healthy for an entire 20 year career.
  13. And you if Flacco has a probowl year this time then the media and the whole nation will just say it's bc he has a great defense and a good supporting cast like they always seem to say. Only real raven fans know that if not for flacco and Ray rice their first couple of years together then team probably would have been terrible. We had an average line and a average defense. We had small possession wrs until Torrey was drafted. Now we have top 5 offensive line, outstanding young wr that are tall and have speed, and a defense that if the secondary can stay healthy can turn out to be a top 10 defense. Not to mention top 5 special teams. This is the best group of guys we have ever had. Used to just be spectacular defense and subpar offense but now we are loaded everywhere.
  14. I think we hit jackpot with these TEs.
  15. This guy seems like he will fit in nice but I don't see him taking on much of a leadership role. We need a leader in the group of safeties to emerge. We have been missing that control back there since reed left. I really like what I saw from Melvin last season. I think him and Jimmy would be great outside corners with size and speed to match up with anyone and webb actually stick to the slot guys cause I think that's where he fits best bUT I don't see these guys play everyday. Can't wait for the season to get started already.
  16. It was lack of confidence bit also a lot to do with the fact he was pretty much playing a slot cb all season. He is best in his natural box safety position. He should be blitzing the edges and dropping back deep in zone coverage. Not playing man to man in the slot. That's just not the type of player he is. But it's his fault for not winning the starting safety spot. If half our secondary wasn't injured last season I doubt we would have seen him at all besides special teams.
  17. I still go on YouTube just to look up his big hit from last season. I think it was Delanie walker? If he stays healthy he could be a great safety. Glad to see his body seems to heal fast.
  18. He reminds me a lot of Arthur jones. I like the desire he's showing to be great. Our defense has had a lot of greats. There is a standard of play we aspire to have and the past couple years have been subpar. Have a feeling if this secondary can stay healthy our defense has some strong potential to be one of the best defenses in the league.
  19. Article been waiting for. The first team offense should look good since our 2 starting corners didn't even practice but I'm glad to hear about the guys catching everything even our safeties picked a couple off. But sounds like Schaub is having a rough time adjusting. Don't like hearing that he is lacking some zip on the ball. That just kinda shows that his arm strength is def on the decline. All our receivers are 4.4 speed or faster so have to have that arm strength to be able to keep up with them.
  20. Steve Smith reminds so much of Derrick mason. I have a feeling he's done after this year so I hope the 2nd 3rd and 4th wide outs this year can prove that they can be relied on next season. I wanna see us take a defensive approach next year to the draft. Might see us draft a guard first Rd though if Yana or osemele end up leaving. But Id like to see us follow our winning strategy of defense defense defense.
  21. Much rather have a 295 in shape guy rushing the passer than a 345lb out of shape mount Cody rushing the passer. This and Brandon Williams to be straight monsters. They are just too quick and have great strength. The strength that Williams possesses is just unreal. Hope for a healthy summer of training and some big things this upcoming season for this defensive front.
  22. And I always told if you don't go 100% out on field then you have a higher chance of getting injured. If your taking it easy and another player is going full pace then there is a chance of something bad happening to you.
  23. these guys have gone through grueling practices since high school some since pee wee football. Some bodies just can't handle that strenuous workload for all those years and then you get to the pros and your job is on the line every single day. They are all trying to make themselves look like the best out on the field and some end up hurt. Plus some show up a little out of shape And get surprised by the fast pace tempo of the nfl. I'm not surprised at all by the injuries. I just hope the ravens players stay healthy this year.
  24. Out of respect for what Torrey did for this organization I won't call this guy better than him just yet. His ceiling is a lot higher than Torreys is though. very high expectations but I think Mad Maxx Williams is our steal of the draft. Just his name sounds awesome and his anger and strength make this guy fit in right away. Watch his film. The guy is just nasty and he shows it after he makes big plays. Our 3rd pick with Carl Davis was great one also. I love ozzie drafting DT/DE in the middle rds. They always turn out to be good players. His conference call video really shows his emotions too. You could tell he was really upset about the slide into the 3rd. He will really play mad. I just can't wait til the preseason gets here. So ready for football.
  25. I get good vibes about this guy. Has great mentors in Irvin and his father played NFL ball too. He has great speed and athleticism. his worst quality is the occasional 1 or 2 drops a game but he always comes through in the clutch. Torrey also had negative marks about his catching when we drafted him and he turned out really good. This guy is just bigger faster and stronger. Ravens also draft players based on intelligence also. I'm gonna be shocked if he has trouble learning our playbook and adjusting to the NFL game. Flacco is gonna make this kid look like a beast. Can't wait. Hope we find a way to get Maxx Williams tonight. If not him then best cb available.
