Matt Pearce @Matt_Pearce13 1m#Ravens not tagging Monroe likely means 1 of 2 things: they are close to a deal or they are too far apart & won't reach a deal #Baltimore Pretty Much. They just didn't want him playing under the tag, since he isn't worth that fraction of the cap.
No but it affects your free agency status on the back end of deals. Monroe's contract was not voided, he was on our roster and becomes a free agent. There was probably a clause that triggered a release in Redding's deal.
Less than that http://overthecap.com/top-player-salaries.php?Position=C But one of the reasons they're cheap is they're easier to find. LTs are either top 5-10 picks or really expensive.
It's comparable to Joe Staley and Russell Okung, and I think that's a good spot for him. If he's under the tag we have more leverage. But he might get 50. I just want to keep him. I don't want to try to find another LT.
That'd be incredibly unlikely. Mack will command a lot of money. So will Monroe. I still feel like we should tag him. LTs are impossible to find and ALWAYS expensive.
Are you saying Monroe is malcontented or are you speaking to another LT who may have been of a poor disposition? Because honestly I think Monroe has a very fair outlook on life.
Yeah, that's the same as Russell Okung and Ryan Clady ish value. That's probably higher than we'd like, but that's the market. http://overthecap.com/top-player-salaries.php?Position=LT
I want to franchise Monroe, now that we have the capspace. he'd probably have eaten 7 million anyway in the cap. We're basically paying 4 million to keep him of the market.
If Miami wants to spend more than he's worth they'll get him. People around here have no concept of how much LT's get. However Russell Okung, Joe Staley and I believe Ryan Clady got less than Peters got.
