  1. I think Tucker puts the same amount of juice on it from 33 as he does 15. And I really doubt any team with a decent kicker is gonna go for 2 point conversions more often. Sure PATs are a formality, but your team just scored a TD, it's pretty much a victory lap you're watching.

  2. Just to be clear, I am a big fan of Perriman pick. He was my 2nd best WR left on the board and he had the highest upside of any of the remaining WRs.

I do think it will take some time for him though. I expect a rookie season that looks something like Torrey's. Ideally, he fits right into that vertical role and the rest of the game develops quickly.

That's not a bad thing. Torrey's rookie season was really really good for those who forget. I thought he would develop into a star receiver, just never worked out that way.

I think Perriman will make a better pro than he was in college. I noticed he gets a step on his guy a lot but then has to compensate for poor throws. Also 1 drop out of 14 for deep balls. That seems a lot better rate than we got with Torrey Smith. Being a deep threat is more than speed, you have to be a threat to catch it as well.

  3. Waller as we know comes from Gt's triple option offense. You pretty much have no idea what to expect. His lack of production/polish is due to what is asked of him in that program. But you have to be encouraged by several things: he caught 26/26 catchable balls in 2013, he improved in the last few games of the year, he has bulk to go with the height, he's a hands catcher. 6'6 230+ wrs with sub 4.5 speed don't grow on trees, and even if he doesn't make it, it was a good roll of the dice. A little patience and a creative oc who knows how to use a guy like Waller could be the difference. If you use him right he could be a matchup problem.

  4. Tell me how much better Perriman is then?i know Perriman is better than Coates but by how much in your eyes? The gap isnt that huge that people make it seem. Coates is the Torrey Smith clone but he fights and goes up for balls with bad hands. i was just saying the steelers got another players that CAN boom thats what im worried about.

Can't knock em, they had a good draft. Coates was solid value in the third. Perriman is hands down the better prospect though. Coates can become a weapon with Ben, but Perriman's upside is right there with some of the best in the game today.

  5. Absolutely ... Gilmore did not disappoint. He did what was asked of him and started to contribute more at the end of the season.

What scares me on the item I highlighted. Since Williams was the best TE in the draft, some people seem to think he's going to instantly be Dennis Pitta in his prime. The kid is 21 ... it is going to take a little working in before he gets comfortable enough to be really effective.

IIRC, CG was named to the all-rookie team last year. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/01/13/2014-pff-all-rookie-team/

  6. I doubt we pay big money to both guards. I'd love to keep both, but Urschel is a capable next man up. Yanda is 30 and I believe he can play at a high level for 4 more years. He's the leader of the line and the best player on it so we have to extend him. KO might become one of the highest paid guards in the league, so he'll probably be somewhere else.

  7. I read that article about veteran salary bonus and I'm not sure how it applies. It seems to me that it lowers the cap hit only if they are signed for the vet min. Or am i missing something? Anyway, it seems the 3 mil is max value and its likely this is a 1 yr 2 mil deal. That's acceptable for an accomplished vet backup qb. Although my initial impressions are i don't love it with our current cap situation.

But then again, maybe this is a play to take him off the market and flip him to a desparate team for a draft pick! Wishful thinking? Lol

  8. What a breath of fresh air he was today. He actually made plays instead of relying on a poorly thrown pass or his man dropping the ball, or of course allowing an automatic completion when the ball is in the air. Call it premature or whatever but he shown more in one game than Webb, Jackson and whoever else we have left has all year.

  9. Steelers get Dri Archer and Martavis Bryant. Browns get West and Desir. We get a TE in the 3rd who would still be on the board now and a bum rb. Total incompetence to pick Gillmore that high, not a single TE taken in the entire 4th round. We could've had Andre Williams, a legit power back that would've been great depth and our short yardage back. Or Desir who would've competed for our #3 cb spot and been a good ST'er.

I'm blowing a gasket looking back at how we squandered that pick and absolutely fell on our face since the Terrence Brooks pick. I'm actually embarrassed, the Browns have drafted better then us in the mid rounds. All those quality rb's and we miss out on every single one. Shameful day 3, absolute failure every step of the way starting with our 3rd round comp pick. There's no way you can argue that Andre Williams wasn't a better pick at that point? When a fan can do the scouts job better then the scouts something is very wrong.

Ha ha. You see the thing you and all these other armchair GMs need to realize is YOU ARE NOT SCOUTS. Reading Mock drafts and Mel Kiper's big board and watching the odd Youtube video is not scouting. And then you guys get upset because we pick a name that you are not familiar with, that didn't catch your eye while reading a mock draft.

  10. The first 3 picks were all good value and BPA, I get that. Then like in almost every draft Ozzie has his obligatory head-scratcher of a pick. Think Jah Reid and Gino Gradkowski.

Crockett Gilmore... Who? Some jabroni hayseed out of Podunk, Mountaintown with probably the worst athleticism at the position in the entire draft. Where do we find these guys? Did our scouting consist of looking at videos of him chucking mountain goats taken from his neighbors deer cam? He is a 6th round prospect with the ceiling of a blocking #3 TE, and there is no guarantee that he will even be that. Not what you really want out of a 3rd round pick. In a draft this deep this is the best there is at the end of the 3rd?

  11. I won't get my hopes up too high for him. It's great that he finally took the steps to improve himself as a person, and that would give hope that he will also take the steps to improve himself as a player. He certainly talked the talk and said the right things. However, when it came time to show up, he did so late, and didn't even finish the conditioning test. Bad day? Maybe, but given his history, I can't really give him the benefit of the doubt. So we'll see, consider anything he does this year to be a bonus, not a given by any means.

  12. Kubiak is too stuborn; we already have more than enough of that. Chudzinski is worth looking at, though.

I second the Chudzinski idea. He put together an offense with Brian Hoyer, Jason Campbell and to a lesser extent Brandon Weeden. I'd love to see what he could do with Joe.
