Torrey crested 1000 yards ONCE in his 4 years here and has been a disaster for the niners. Nah for the money I'll keep Wallace. Lol
As for the draft I hope Hooker makes it to us. If not that I'll take Humphrey. The CB out of Bama. After that maybe Peppers. If we go outside of those 3 there better be a really really good reason.
Just some quick stats on Pitta. For TEs, 1st in receptions. 7th in yards and tied for 22nd in TDs. Of actual starting TEs. Take it for what you will. Also in the bottom third for YAC. And averaged 8.5 ypc.
Personally in the 1st if Hooker is off the board, highly likely, than I want Humphrey from Bama. The absolute breakdown of the D when we only had 1 corner out there(Young) just shows we need another guy. Move Young to the slot.
Oh no doubt. I just don't think we'll ever get a full season out of Jimmy. I think we'll draft another CB in the first couple rounds to put on the other side and put Young in the slot. At least that way games Jimmy misses well have someone that can at least cover. Lol. Here's to hoping he can pull it together.
Has Yanda ever played C? He makes the line calls anyway. Other options Tretter or Schwenke. Or if they don't retain Wagner and have to move Lewis to RT you have a guy like Warmack that's a FA.
Stanley Warmack Schwenke/draft pick Yanda Lewis. That's a pretty damn good line.
I stand corrected. I went back and looked at all his draft profiles and everyone from Mayock, to draft scout to the hacks at CBS all said he's a 3/4 OLB that will need to develop. Possibly they see him as the replacement for Doom? Similar skill set.
Of course the flip side of that is games played divided by salary. If you use that, he's the highest paid corner in the league, by a pretty wide margin.
I've said it before, if you look at the middle tier of contracts they're all in that 8-10 range. Garçon, Jones, Jackson, Crabtree, Smith. He hit 1000 yards this season. Not too much more you can ask out of a second tier WR. Now there's several teams that have multiples of those kind of guys, Redskins, Packers, Falcons(exception Julio in the 12+ range)....
If Wallace will sign a 3 year in the low 20s he'll stay. I bet we offer the same to someone like Garçon. And here's to hoping they both take it.
Well Alex Smith made it, yeah the guy with the fewest TD passes in the league, so why not Zuttah? Lol
Hopefully the OL. Meaning we retain Wagner, Lewis gets even better and we get a new C in the draft. We've all seen what Joe and our running game can do with a strong OL. Actually any team.
Given his draft selection you have to hope after a full season he'll be ready to step in next year. Meaning KC. Guess we'll see but I seriously doubt we go sign someone else.
Time for Correa to step up.

2 by the secondary last year, and 10 by the secondary this year.
4 from a AllPro named Weddle. So subtract that and we got 6 by the secondary, which would rank 24th. Just saying.
Honestly we're not paying BWill 10M per. And Wagner isn't going to offered more than 6m per. The top 5 RTs contracts in the past 2 years are in the 5.8-6.5 range. You can throw out Mr.10m because he's already slated to play LT. Wagner played on one of the lower graded OLs last year and honestly he didn't play above and beyond either. If he gets offered more than 6 per year, let him walk.
Why would a guy with 9 years in the league need a QB coach? If you look at other teams, paying their QB as much as we are, the OC is / QB coach. And sure they have a assistant QB coach, which means someone to go grab the coffee. If after 9 years Joe needs a babysitter telling him to work on his mechanics than something is wrong.
Basically I took away, and what everyone has been saying anyway, is this is Harbs last stand. Firing everyone is bad for business but at some point you have to. They have another 8-8 season and miss the playoffs the entire staff is gone.

But looking at players that are average at best come in and perform well at ILB recently such as Ellerbe, Bynes, McClain, McClellan, etc. Not many have looked too terrible. Yes Orr had a better year than any of them and I want the team to retain them and I would be thrilled if they resigned him now. It would be a smart move if they knew he could keep that production up.
I would trust the coaches and front office's decision as well and I could see it going either way. I think it is smart especially since the team has some cap room this year to extend some players before they head out the door. I am on board with retaining current players instead of going out and finding replacements because often the replacements take 1-2 years to get to full speed in the new system and personnel around them.
It would be nice if the team could look into the future and see what Orr's career holds.
DSmith came from the Jags. Not the Bucs. And it's already been stated Orr is a RFA. He'll be here next year as I doubt anyone's gonna give up a 2nd rounder for him.

It's not all about the playbook. Marty has a working relationship with not only the players but most of the lower level coaches that will be on this staff. If you bring someone new in that mean new relationships have to be formed. So when Marty and Engram sit down to talk about what are real expectations of Chris Moore moving forward, there is already a certain level of trust between them because they both watch him in practice throughout the season and Marty knows the type of work both Engram and Moore has put in together.
Marty already knows the players he'll spend all offseason building the offense around because he's seen guys like Maxx, Waller, Moore, Camp, Gilmore, Lewis, Urschel and other practice over the last 2 seasons so even though their onfield production might not have been the best he already has a working relationship with these players and probably has a general idea of what they can do and how he'd like to use them. It's impossible for a new coach to have this.
Lastingly, although Marty isn't using his playbook, he was using the concepts and verbiage of his playbook. It's the WCO it's not gonna change that much. Some things might change schematically i.e more crosses, more screens, more deep shot, but the offense isn't gonna change. If you bring in a guy like Mike McCoy there is a likelihood that he changes everything because he's not really a WCO guy. So now even though there will be changes to the playbook, having the same coach that's been in your ear much of the last season, having a familiarity of how he runs practice and his expectations of things makes the transition to a new playbook much easier than if it were a brand new coach. This offseason will be about opening up Marty's playbook more than installing a new playbook and there is a huge difference.
Oh yeah and no, I've never played NFL football before, which i'm sure most people here haven't.
Marty runs, or I should say used to run in Philly, a completely different system than Trestman. Everyone gets wrapped around WCO vs Air Croyle and etc... but really even inside those are vastly different approaches. It's kinda like doing a oil change on a gas vs Diesel engine. Yeah you know the basics but it's still different. Now do a oil change on a Powerstroke or Dmax vs a Peterbuilt. Same thing. It's the same, but different.
That was my point. It's still new and a change. Yes, less so than a complete new system, but still new nonetheless.
22 hours ago, Ravensfan23 said:That's exactly why it's continuity. He already know players and the coaching staff. He won't be implementing a new system, just his philosophy within the system. This will not be a start from scratch situation, more of a build upon what was started last season situation. McCoy would have brought in a entirely new offensive system and it's different from the WCO the Ravens have committed to run. So with McCoy you either bring him in and keep the system, thus forcing a roll peg into a square hole, which is a disadvantage for him from day 1. OR you bring him and basically ask him to teach all your coaches and players his system starting from scratch again.
Maybe you haven't played ball. But Marty is STILL a new coach with his own playbook, and different than Trestman. Given the evidence he was still playing with Trestman playbook because those are the terms the offense knew. So if you keep him, terms change, routes change, etc.,... It's still a new system, I don't care if you a in and out is the same pattern just under a different call. It's still a new system.

Well, at this point Weddle, Webb and Lewis are under contract; Huff is a RFA and Levine and Elam are FAs. IMO, it's very possible that Webb and Lewis are released and Huff is non-tendered (can't see him being tendered at $1.8M). So, that could leave Weddle as the only Safety under contract or under team control as of March. That doesn't mean they will draft one in the 1st round (although if Hooker from OSU somehow gets that far, he'd be hard to pass up), but they definitely may very well need to restock the position.
We need a S because Webb is mediocre at best, and Weddle only has a couple years left. But you're right I bet Webb is shown the door. I really hope Hooker slides to us given more needs by teams in front of us. Or we move up for him.
22 hours ago, Ravensfan23 said:I wouldn't call that a report more so him giving his best guess of what will take place. No different then him and most everyone believing Marty was gone.
Williams is the only Ravens FA that will command huge money on the open market that the Ravens might not be able to afford, so of course finding a way to retain him will be at the top of their list. However that doesn't mean that retaining Wagner and Juice isn't also at the top of that list, they are probably just more confident that those guys won't be a problem to re-sign. It'll take like 4yrs 8mil with 3mil guaranteed to make Juice the highest FB in the NFL and I don't even think he'll get that. So there isn't much of a point to make him a priority.
With Wagner at RT, Lane Johnson's contract technically drives up the market value for RTs but i'd imagine both sides will realize that Johnson was drafted to be a LT and paid accordingly being a top 4 pick. I'd think Wagner at max is in the range of 5yrs 33.5Mil with 12-14Mill guaranteed and again I don't think he gets that. So that means even if those guys are paid near the top at their positions they could probably be had for a total of about 8Mil a year. Williams on the other hand will probably cost anywhere from 8.5-10Mil a year by himself. So finding ways to not only make him a competitive offer but structure the contract to fit the cap will take more man power than the other guys.
Um barring Johnsons contract, which is as you stated is a LT contract, the top 10 RTs in the league are only making a max of 6m per year. With a bottom level of 5.5m. I think Wagner falls into the top 10, but certainly not the top and no other team is gonna think that either. He comes back in the range of 5.7m a year. Easily.

I was hoping also. I was OK with keeping Marty for continuity reasons, but when you think about it he's still going to be a new OC anyway who will be implementing his system. That's not continuity besides already knowing the guys name. Ah well.
I think CB or S will be addressed in round 1. With the likes of Hooker and Adams being highly touted safeties one should be available at 16. Some really good corners also if those 2 are off the board. Aka immediate starters. DE/OLB and C can be addressed in 2 and 3 and be immediate starters also.

All the complainers finally got their escalators. Lol. I can't find the design, but given the stadium just where are they going to put these?
