harbs and flacco have some work to do and i sure hope harbs understands how important it is to not allow your coordinators to go into safe mode when having a lead like atlanta did and like we did against the steelers. need to keep the foot on the gas pedal until the game is over like the patriots do and that is why they are the best
does bmore give justin gilbert a shot? can he get his career on track?
If the Patriots only played in a REAL division like the AFCN.
Man I've been saying the same thing for years. They won there division every year except twice since Brady has been there. The teams in there division have been disgusting so there almost garunteed a trip to the playoffs. There's more but I'm so sick of the Patriots....smh
Agreed but we were 2-2 vs their conference this season beating he Bills and Dolphins and losing to the Pats and the lowly Jets....
SO...as much as I agree that the Pats are in a weaker division.... I still think we were not where we were supposed to be this year...and proof is that we were .500 against that weak division.
We need to simply get better in a lot of areas but the # 1 area is closing teams out... WHICH WE HAVE NOT DONE WELL SINCE DEAN PEES ARRIVED IN BMORE
IF we are going to take the next step. IT has to start there... regardless of who we play!
atlantas defense pulled a dean pees.
I'm done "hating" on the Pats. That comeback was insane. Brady is the GOAT, hands down. To do what he's done at that age and always with a bunch of no-names, is just ridiculous. We can call them cheaters, or say they're in a weak division; and even state that the Falcons play calling late was atrocious; but the results show that we're witnessing the greatest football of our time. It really, REALLY pains me to admit it, as I hate the Pats; but I have to tip my hat, and concede: Brady is the greatest of all time.
have to agree with you. they are the best. seems they become even better when fingers are pointed towards them or accused of wrong doing. they have a blueprint and have stuck to it. ravens need to decide what type of team they want to be and stick with that philosophy

The name no one is talking about to the Ravens is Cam Robinson. He could be there at 16 and could slide into the RT or LG spot (If Lewis moves to RT). He a big nasty mauler and road grader. And Ozzie loves him some Bama boys. He's not a LT so he could easily fall in the 1st Round.
I also like Tyler Orlosky from WV. Needs to pack on some muscle but has that nastiness you want. Could be available 3rd Round Comp.
i doubt we use #16 on a lineman unless we trade back and acquire another draft pick. cb, s or edge rusher at 16 i would think.
barring major injuries i see us getting back to the playoffs but the fo needs to stop hoarding picks and move up to grab the guys that will put fans in the stands.
2 hours ago, sizzlingdoom said:relying on Ducasse as a starter and Lewis as a starting tackle.....very very dangerous imo. If we're trying to improve the line this off season, I think relying on those moves could = no improvement, and maybe a fall back. Everyone praises Lewis for some reason, and people don't seem to give Wagner credit for how well he's played for us
wagner has been solid but he will command 8 million plus and they must choose between him and b. williams and if it were my decision i would choose williams but even that depends on what his asking price is. we have plenty of needs that we cannot fill if we keep both or really overpay for 1. going to be fun watching how everything plays out
ducasse is a strong run blocker and if this new line coach can improve his pass blocking than we have a starting guard which allows lewis to move to right tackle if wagner leaves which is likely to happen
How about a good one? I mean...sometimes these questions answer themselves.
Couple of points here. First off, the Ravens don't really want to tip their hand before the draft because it "might" give other teams an idea of what type of lineman they'd pick in the draft and where they might be picking him.
First thing's first though. The Ravens have to figure out what type of team they are. This line proved time and time again with the running backs we have that we are not a stretch to the outside zone running team. This team ran the ball much better when Dixon and West were running North and South with Ducasse (known for always being a road grader and not much of a pass protector) in at RG.
We don't have that shifty/speedy scat back like Forsett anymore. I don't think the Ravens will draft a guy like that in the first round. I think they're looking for the next Jamal Lewis. A guy fast enough, but one that can pound the rock and is hard to bring down. If this is the case, we need some big uglies up front.
I know Yanda wants to go back to RG next season, but I think for the team he should move to LG. RG should either be Alex Lewis (or Lewis at RT if, and I think it is a strong possibility, Wagner walks via FA). I think it is much easier to find a plug and play road grader at RG than it is to find another good LG. Heck, we could put Ducasse back there again and see if some rookie/youngster can beat him for that spot.
I know many people probably don't know this guy or think much of him, but Matt Skura is a guy I think that could make some noise at C. Zuttah played through a lot of injuries last season and if healthy he's decent, but the Ravens better be looking for his replacement like...right now.
skura would need to put on some weight. he is listed at 294. birk was 315 and travis frederick from dallas is 318. zuttah is 305 but it shows against good nose tackles when he gets pushed back. zuttah is serviceable but i agree that we need to find his replacement soon
if he wants to play 10-12 yards off the receiver than he is 1000% correct that the ravens are a good fit
i love these articles every off season that say the ravens would like to get this type of player or need this or want that etc...etc..
12 hours ago, TheConquerorWorm said:I agree. But I think now that Wink is coaching the entire LB unit (not just the ILB as before) we got a good chance. Just look at what he did with Judon in his first year. We need that same type of coach for our WRs and DBs - I don't think Engram & Hewitt have what it takes. Look at what Frazier did with Tavon - something Hewitt hasn't done in his 5 years here.
i thought it was a mistake to keep engram and promote hewitt but it falls on harbs in this crucial year for him. his job depends on all these coaches panning out.
a question for harbaugh to ask himself is does he have the right coaches to develop these young pass rushers currently on the roster

My fiancee works with kids with developmental disabilities and every time they ask for someone to visit kids, help with fundraising etc... who has been the Ravens to show for the last few years? Brandon and Crocket Gilmore. His camaraderie in the locker room that has been shared on many tweets shows just how much he is loved. He is willing to take a reasonable discount just to keep his kid in school here. AND he is the best nose tackle in the league, which, of course, is the most important. The days of letting our quality players go because we could find gold in dog doo no longer exists. Next man up is a great strategy if you have the cap space to load your roster with next men, we don't. Accumulating a billion draft picks by letting skilled players walk is now a failed strategy (which Ozzie showed last year by going out on the first days of free agency and snatching up quality free agents.) We will get just one comp pick for KO this year and we really tried everything to keep him but you can't pay a guard left tackle money unless you have a rookie QB making just 4 mil a year. We don't have that.
Anyone who thinks we will just be fine letting quality players walk, getting comp picks and hoping the next man up will be good enough needs to reread the first paragraph. That strategy worked great but is now obsolete and defunct in todays NFL.
couldnt agree more
We have two receivers that can fill that job description...Aiken and Camp.
i do not think aiken has felt the love from the ravens so he will most likely leave and go to new england where he will flourish and camps health unfortunately cannot be trusted. wouldnt mind seeing us go after kenny britt and than take another chance on a receiver in the mid rds. hopefully perriman and moore get it going. if maxx and boyle are ready to go than we can always put pitta in the slot.
It does not matter what type of receiver we get (if any) until Flacco gets rid of those rose colored Pita glasses and starts waiting for plays to develop then all others will not be utilized. Flaccos had the "get rid of the ball as fast as i can" jitters most of the season and continually just sought out Pita. I guess between the O'line not creating a pocket for him and the fact that he was just coming off of an injury it is to be expected. But we need a safe and sound Flacco which will help improve us immensely.
i agree for the most part but flaccos biggest need is a successful running game and if they have that then the passing game will be there when needed.
They have it they had it last year only the genius marty didn't use it
Hey They said they "BELIEVED" in running the ball.
we struggled running the ball up the middle and in short yardage situations. with castillo gone and some upgrades on the line and schemes the running game will flourish

gilmore and camponaro are one and the same. injury prone. we need a te in case maxx isnt 100%
2 hours ago, jetskireid said:yeah but Williams isn't a 3 down player either.
he is on short yardage situations. on obvious passing downs he comes out
At this point the Ravens need Offense. As long as Dean Pees is coaching that "bend but don't break"... thing... whatever it is... they need to score 7 points since "bending" almost always means 3 points given up and occasionally 7 then the team MUST focus on building a lethal Offense otherwise there is zero hope.
i am still disappointed pees was retained. hopefully harbaugh does not wait until a lead has vanished before telling his dc to turn up the pressure. the 2000 defense never took their foot off the gas. they attacked the whole game. harbaugh needs to make sure pees attacks the whole game
cant afford to lose this guy... our run D will struggle like our Pass D struggles without Jimmy... we should sell everyone and cut everyone to keep this guy..DO NOT BE STUPID BALTIMORE
I said the same thing about Boldin and I like to think I was right about that, but I think we have too many holes to fill to throw all of our cap space at Williams. Plus we have a promising backup for that position so there might be that much drop off if he walks.
promising backup? pierce? hahahahah come on .. don't kid yourself.. davis/urban/henry/pierce... none of them are a quarter of what Brandon is
i have to agree with you. pierce as a 3 down player over a full season is a big ??? and jernigans dominant start to the season fizzled as the season wore on. williams is the real deal but we cannot break the cap space on him. hopefully he can be retained without keeping us from filling other holes
the only change really needed were the escalators. at some point no one but the rich will be able to afford the tix. could see more empty seats around the nfl as teams keep raising prices
aside from injuries, castillo being gone has already improved the o-line.

What's the goal there?
dont forget chris moore who is another burner.

i wouldnt draft this guy until the 3rd if he is still available. seems like another tavaris gooden. lets pkg picks to move up and grab the players that will put fans in the seats
