This is my favorite pick in relation to his value/round. Tim Williams is the pass rusher Correa was supposed to be, sudden and twitchy with actual pass rush moves. Between him and Bowser, one of these guys is going to be an absolute stud, potentially even both and that's really exciting. I just think Williams is ready to step in and make an impact right away and Bowser may need more time to tap into his potential.
Teams went way overboard with the off-field concerns on Foster and Williams imo. I think both those guys go on to light it up and we look back and say "How did those guys get passed up so many times???"
We just might have the best defense in the league and a bottom 5 offense. Dede Westbrook would be a great pick, I would trade up for him at this point, we stocked up so heavy on defense that we might as well get an offensive prospect who can actually ball even if it requires giving up our 5th or 6th round pick.
This is why we should've gone offense in Free Agency. I said over and over "This is a defensive draft, build the defense there and build the offense in FA". Our defense is going to be nasty and the offense is going to be a dumpster fire. An already bad unit has lost Wagner and SSS, no help in the first 2 rounds or FA. Another painful year of anemic offense incoming.

You realize that Mixon was verbally berating that girls friend who was gay which sparked the whole incident. She's a 115 lbs girl, give me a break. Mixon is a piece of garbage person, dude didn't even sound remorseful. Good player but such a cancerous person to have in your locker room.
Just now, reed20 said:The Bengals actually draft to help their quarterback.. why cant we do that?
Mixon is a disgusting human being. WR's didn't make it to us, Cook didn't make it to us, OT's didn't make it to us. Only thing you could say is that we should've picked Howard but we are stacked at TE as it is, I think either Waller or Crockett breaks out this year,
Bengals have such a scumbag team, everyone saw that coming
People were generally unimpressed with CJ Mosley on draft night, some outright hated the pick. I never forget that when I see knee jerk reactions to draft picks on here. I think Humphrey is going to be a stud once he fills out a little more and matures. I actually think Humphrey is more pro ready than Jimmy was coming out but we won't really see the player he's going to be until year 2 and 3. This guy is an AFCN player, big and physical for his position. I love that he can be a factor in run support and hit. Maybe not the best pure cover corner, but much like Jimmy, if he can get a good jam on you and disrupt the timing of the route he can really cause problems for an offense. We have a very physical secondary and a bunch of corners that can put hands on you at the point of attack.
My only gripe was positional value, there are going to be so many CB's available in round 2 (Wilson, King, Auwuzie, Tabor, Jones), Why not take Allen or Howard because you know another good CB is going to make it to us in the 2nd, the class is stacked with them. I just hope Humphrey separates himself from that pack and proves why he was taken where he was.
I think Williams will be less AJ Green and more Kelvin Benjamin

I have a sneaking suspicion this will happen as well. If he does we'll all know he's the pick before we even turn in the card, such a typical Ravens pick if he makes it to us.
I feel like all of us with our fingers crossed for an exciting pick like Mike Williams or Corey Davis are going to be disappointed. I expect a good, but underwhelming pick like Cam Robinson or Forrest Lamp. I feel like we're looking at the Cowboys offense right now and trying to build a similar unit that can bully opposing defenses in the trenches.
Also the Alabama boys Humphrey and Foster would be likely picks if either last that long. Last year we pretty much knew the few players who could possibly be the pick, this year it could be so many different players depending how the board falls, Thursday night is going to be very interesting.
The problem with this team isn't that we don't have good depth and good contributors. We lack elite high end players. Especially at skill positions. I don't think this draft philosophy really fits what we need.
7 minutes ago, Ravenskid52752 said:Both of those guys will be gone by time the Ravens pick plus cars going to be here for at least two to three years so I wouldn't call him a complete stop Gap player his contract is very friendly the next 2 years. I'm not say don't draft a corner at all just don't see the value in doing that in round one with other needs like edge rusher and Wide Receiver over that.
There is no definitive reason to think that they will both be gone. Especially Conley. We all thought Kyle Arrington was going to perform for us like he did in NE, those veteran CB's play can fall off in a hurry and I'm not convinced Carr is going to be an exception. Hopefully he gives us a good return these next 2 years but drafting a CB is totally justifiable if it's the right player.

Tavon and Webb really are nickel guys. Jimmy and Carr can play on the outside but Jimmy is injury prone and Brandon Carr is stop gap at 30+. Definitely can't complain about taking a corner high, especially in such a good corner class. Marlon Humphrey or Gareon Conley would be great picks.
Cam Robinson or Taco Charlton, wouldn't surprise me at all either if we took Robinson.
14 hours ago, mc_red23 said:I'd love for this to happen BUT how confident are people that Sidney Jones will fall so far? If there's a possibility that he still plays this season then will he really make it to the 3rd round? I can see a team taking him much sooner.
Jones could certainly go sooner if teams are optomistic about his return. Hard to predict, I've seen him go anywhere from the 2nd to late 3rd in mocks. Perhaps him lasting to our 3rd is on the optomistic side. Just also consider this class is stacked at CB so teams might opt for guys like King, Wilson, Tabor, Morneau, Auwuzie before taking Jones which could cause him to slide. His position is abnormally stacked with talent this year.
1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett
2. San Francisco 49ers: Marshon Lattimore
3. Chicago Bears: Jonathan Allen
4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Leonard Fournette
5. Tennessee Titans: Solomon Thomas
6. New York Jets: Jamal Adams
7. Los Angeles Chargers: Malik Hooker
8. Carolina Panthers: Dalvin Cook
9. Cincinnati Bengals: Reuben Foster
10. Buffalo Bills: O.J. Howard
11: New Orleans Saints: Taco Charlton
12. Cleveland Browns: Mitchell Trubisky
13. Arizona Cardinals: Mike Williams
14. Philadelphia Eagles: Marlon Humphrey
15.Indianapolis Colts: Derek Barnett
16. Baltimore Ravens: Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan
Ozzie & Company give a long awaited jolt to the offense and also know they picked the BPA available. Davis is their highest rated WR and night one of the draft comes to a close with the Ravens brass feeling ecstatic about the pick. I think we got just a sliver of useful information out of the Draft Presser when Eric praised Mike Williams and John Ross immediately, while sneakily slipping in Corey Davis' name at the end. Davis is the the total package and in my opinion the best WR in the draft but his small school label combined with Mike Williams' stature is a recipe for for the Williams to come off the board first. 3 WR sets with Davis and Perriman on the outside with Mike Wallace in the slot could really be electric.
Round 2:
Baltimore Ravens: Carl Lawson, OLB, Auburn
Round 3:
Baltimore Ravens: Sidney Jones, CB, Washington
Baltimore Ravens: Ethan Pocic, C, LSU
Honestly I wish we would switch our primary logo to:

It's possible. I believe Ducasse visited and left without a contract and was signed later on. Just from what I recall in past years we typically sign guys while they're in the building. The exception being when we host a workout like we did for Hester, I don't believe that was the case with Mangold. Considering the physical was a concern it's a little unsettling.

2 hours ago, Filmstudy said:I posted my thoughts on the trade here:
http://russellstreetreport.com/2017/04/05/filmstudy/ravens-trade-timmy-jernigan-value/
A few points:
- There is no guarantee on the comp pick round
- The comp pick would have been lost if the Ravens sign more FAs or potentially hamstrung the FA process
- The possible comp pick would have come in 2019, the trade draft capital in 2017, so there should be significant discounting applied to comp
- Jernigan played much higher leverage downs than Williams (80% of 3rd downs as opposed to 21% for Williams)
- The Ravens increase the chance to retain CJ Mosley, so it's a choice of cornerstone players
This is what i came around to realize today as well. I was a bit sour on the deal yesterday but now that I've had some time to think about it... good deal for both teams. Honestly after the top 10 picks of the 3rd round is usually where the board takes a significant drop in quality. There's a good chance that board would've been cleaned up by our comp pick, obviously good players would still be available but it becomes a lot more difficult at that point.
We all knew that Jernigan only had 1 year left as a Raven, that was a huge jump in draft capital when you consider a single injury could've undone his production during his final season here anyway had we kept him.
7 minutes ago, Jonah DeVito said:I'm sorry, I didn't realize you know what's been going on in the FO. None of what you just said is a fact, you are guessing. No one said the Eagles really wanted Jernigan. For all we know the two teams have been talking for weeks.
That's true, it just seemed like a meh haul considering they are getting a guy who is a 1st round talent at 24 years old who hasn't even played his best ball yet. Just like we say with paying players "Don't pay them for what they've already done, pay them for what they will do". Same applies to trades, the compensation should reflect what they're going to do in the future. Jernigan is very good player who is only going to get better. Seems like the haul should've been better considering his age and talent.
2 hours ago, ravefan52 said:Jernigan was the best and only good pass rusher we had. And he had the highest run stopping grade from pff of any 3-4 DE. And he's only 24 years old. Eagles got a great deal
He was certainly worth more than we got. The pick swap should've been for our 4th, not our 3rd round comp pick. The fact that we couldn't play hardball for that to be the trade is concerning. If they wanted Jernigan that bad they would've done it. Just seemed like a lack of patience on our part, what was the rush to get a deal done today? Push for a better deal and wait it out. I HIGHLY doubt the Eagles would've pulled that offer if we didn't take it today.
Don't hate the idea of the trade, not thrilled with the return. Boldin, Zuttah, now Jernigan.... this front office never seems to get fairly compensated for quality players. 25 spots in the 3rd for a player like Jernigan who they can re-sign to a long term deal is pretty weak. Do we know how to play hardball? There is still plenty of time before the draft. If I'm Ozzie I'm saying "We need more on our end, Jernigan is an outstanding player, you know how to get in contact with us if you change your mind".
Then in a week or two if they don't bite then take the original offer. I just see no reason not to continue to shop him and just settle for what we got. What's the rush to unload him?
7 hours ago, Tank 92 said:The bottom line is that you've completely missed the point, or are purposely ignoring it. Regardless of Flacco's performance last year or where the the defense ranked, they blew numerous games by sucking bad late and not finishing. It's likely that the Ravens were in the playoffs if that did not happen.
It should never come down to getting 1 stop at the end of the game as often as it did last year, if the offense could actually put some points on the board many of those games would've already been over.
I'll do you one better, if the offense could actually put drives together and not constantly go 3 and out then we wouldn't have an exhausted defense on the field when we do need a clutch stop.
The apologetics for that unit is unexplainable to me. If we want to see a return to form and getting back in the playoffs we should all be in an uproar over how bad the current offensive unit is. We have a unit that was already bad to begin with in 2016, now minus our best playmaker, starting RT, starting C, and starting FB.
You know if we were winning games and making the playoffs some of the blind defending of the front office would at least be palatable. The results speak for themselves, missed playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years. The criticism is justified.

Let me get this straight we had an offensive unit that struggled mightily in 2016, couldn't get 1st downs, couldn't finish drives and constantly settled for 3, tired out our defense with their inability to sustain drives. That already poor unit then loses it's best playmaker in Steve Smith, our alpha dog. A pro bowl fullback, one of the best RT's in football in Wagner, as well as our starting Center.
I'm not even mad about the draft, the offensive players who were worth the value of our pick never made it to us outside of maybe OJ Howard. The issue is FREE AGENCY! We knew this was a weak offensive draft, we knew the board was probably going to fall heavily on defense at our picks. Yet we ignore offense in free agency and sign 2 fat contracts on defense. That is the mis-step here, we should've spent on offense and drafted on defense. I love our defense, but this offense is garbage right now. OL is in shambles, WR core is one of the worst in the NFL... We have problems here guys. I don't see how you fix this unit to a reasonable degree without a significant trade.
