  1. Don't be surprised if we take Buckner, I just keep hearing people in-the-know rave about him. Would be a classic Ozzie Newsome pick, may not get the fans jumping out of their seats on draft night but by the end of the season we'll look back and go "Damn, that was a good pick". I'm nearly just as excited for our 2nd pick, we might sneak into the end of the 1st... going to come away with 2 outstanding football players.
  2. I've loved Myles Jack the entire pre-draft process.. but now that the Draft is within striking distance the reality of drafting any of the top prospects feels a lot more real. As a result of this I was thinking more and more about how I would feel about each of the top prospects if we were to draft them. When I got to Myles Jack I all of a sudden found myself getting cold feet about actually pulling the trigger on him with this all-so-important-pick. Jack coming off that meniscus tear makes me weary. There are already rumors that some teams won't even have Jack on their draft board. After everything we just went through with Perriman it makes me concerned about adding in yet another player rehabbing a knee who could deal with a possible set back or long term issue because of it. Anybody remember Daquan Bowers? In 2011 he was coming off a "slight" meniscus tear, missed the combine, was supposed to go top 10 and ended up falling into the 2nd round after so many teams were scared by off his medical situation and the possibility of degenerative arthritis in his scoped knee being a factor long term. While I doubt Jack takes that far of a tumble I could see him falling outside the top 10. Jack still had a 40 in vertical at his pro day and he's looked good.... but the Ravens have spent so much time nursing injuries in general these last few years I really only want to draft players with clean injury history.
  3. I think there will be 1 trade at most in the top 10 Thursday. We know teh QB's are going 1 and 2 so I have a hard time envisioning teams giving up a boatload of picks to move up unless someone big takes a fall (Like Tunsil or Bosa)
  4. *Note: You must click "Reveal Hidden Contents" at bottom of page to view our picks 1. Los Angeles Rams: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota St. - Wentz appears to be the favorite for the #1 overall pick, tall, athletic, perhaps a bit raw but they think he can be special. 2. Philadelphia Eagles: Jared Goff, QB, California - The Eagles must either like both QB's a lot or have inside info on who the Rams are picking to have made this trade. Either way we now know Wentz/Goff will go 1-2 regardless of order. 3. San Diego Chargers: Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss - The Chargers get the #1 player on their board and add a future pro-bowl LT in Tunsil to their depleted OL that was a thorn in Philip Rivers' side in 2015. 4. Dallas Cowboys: Jalen Ramsey, DB, Florida St - Big coup for the Cowboys, they cash in on the early QB action and come away with arguably the best player in the draft 5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Myles Jack, LB, UCLA - The Jags worked out Jack this week in LA and it's easy to envision a scenario in which they fall in love with him based on that workout. Ultimately the bum knee reports end up being false flags and Jack's top 5 status proves that. 6. Baltimore Ravens: *Live on NFL Network* Rich Eisen: The Baltimore Ravens are on the clock now. With Ramsey, Tunsil, and Myles Jack off the board I wouldn't be surprised if Ozzie Newsome looks to trade this pick, what do you guys think? Mike Mayock: Certainly a possibility. Joey Bosa the pass rusher from Ohio State makes a lot of sense here. Deforest Buckner is the top player on my board right now and he would be a great fit for their defense as well. Rich Eisen: Hold on, the pick is in, it appears the Ravens will make a selection at #6. Let's go live to the commissioner. Roger Goodell: With the 6th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, The Baltimore Ravens select...
  5. 0-16?
  6. For probably the 100th time, nobody wanted us to actively try to tank, it was more so just hoping that we lost out at a certain point because the playoffs were out the window and we stood to benefit far more from improved draft position than from winning what were essentially garbage time games. Thank goodness the refs screwed up the end the Jags and Raiders games, actually ended up doing us a huge solid.
  7. The Elliott to Dallas buzz is exciting. Can't wait for draft day, we're getting a stud any way you look at it, I just feel like we're going to hit our first 2 picks out of the park
  8. This.
  9. Would be pretty slick on Norman's part to sign a 1 year deal somewhere, prove he's not a one year wonder, then cash in big during FA next year when the cap will be even higher. Unless he can get someone to overpay for him right now which is totally possible, plenty of teams with massive amounts of cap space and need help in the secondary.
  10. 0% chance both are on the board, I love Zeke and even I would have my torch and pitchfork ready if we passed on either of those guys.
  11. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas, won't pretend to know who we pick but it's guaranteed to be a stud. Don't be surprised if we sneak back into the end of the 1st as well, we could have a HUGE night on Thursday. We are picking way higher than we have any right to and I love it.
  12. Don't see Cowboys going Bosa over Ramsey or Jags going Jack over Ramsey... let alone both of those things happening. Would be awesome but don't hold your breathe.
  13. Which means whoever the Eagles draft in their place will be a perennial Pro Bowler and Browns fans will complain about not drafting him for the next 10 years because Browns. Who could forget this gem of a trade back: Falcons: Julio Jones Browns: Phil Taylor, Greg Little, Owen Marecic, Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson
  14. That's perhaps a half truth. It is true that we viewed him as being better utilized at CB, but his lack of size likely played a large part in reaching that conclusion. The guy was 180 lbs soaking wet coming out of college, thin legs, small frame. I mean you can look at at safeties that are considered undersized like ET3, Gipson, Delmas, Weddle ect. and they still have bigger frames than Webb, they're all about 20 lbs heavier and are wider/denser. The only guy I can think of that has a legitimately smaller frame is Tyrann Mathieu and he's just an absolute monster, he's the exception and not the rule. I do think the safety position is evolving, I do think there is less of a premium on size there than ever before. Even with that said I still have some serious reservations with this move. Like I stated I just see him creating a false illusion of a starter, we aren't going to find out if he's durable enough or physical enough in training camp. That's the danger with this move, if he's not built to have longevity there we aren't going to find out until the regular season is already under way.
  15. I have thought about this as well, definitely a realistic possibility. Talk about a value pick, he was the consensus #1 pick before these trades went down.
  16. It's not a matter of me not being open to an opposing view point. I made a clear argument as to why Webb's small frame isn't conducive to being a viable full time FS, hence why he was converted to corner out of college in the first place. I'm absolutely open to being convinced otherwise but I have yet to hear anything that makes me think this is going to end well.
  17. At cornerback close to the LOS, mostly on outside runs and screens. Run support from the safety position is an entirely different animal. When ball carriers are getting to that second level they have a head of steam already, you want a safety that can make them go backwards. Webb isn't that guy, he's a guy who is going to hit you low and throw his body at you, the Matt Elam special. Look, I don't want to be right about this. But I can already see the angry posts in the gameday thread.
  18. I think so too, I see us being very aggressive this draft. I can definitely see us moving back into the 1st for the right player.
  19. You guys gave me a hard time about mocking Elliott to us at #6 lol... his stock is way higher than many seem to think. Instantly will change the entire philosophy of any offense he's on. That to me is worth more than a pass rusher like Bosa considering he's not at the level of a Von Miller or Khalil Mack. Our offense can ride Zeke in the running game, count on him on the Goal Line and in short yardage, he can catch out of the backfield, he can pass block at very high level. We're a different football team with Zeke Elliott, he would be a god send for Flacco, especially coming off this ACL. Would I love to add a pass rusher? Absolutely. But I think Zeke is a better overall player than Bosa and that to me matters more than a positional need. We had much bigger needs than ILB when we took Mosley, I think we draft the right way and that's picking the best player. That's why I think Zeke is very much in the discussion.
  20. Barron and Buchannon are big dudes, I'd say that again goes to the point of body composition (ie: center of gravity, ability to generate force, ect.) matter more than the number on the scale. I'm all for pushing the envelope, I have no problem with Webb experimenting at FS and seeing if he can make it work. My gripe about this whole transition is now we have Webb acting like a place holder and kinda creating this illusion of a starter. I can envision a scenario where Webb looks competent there in training camp, we feel like we got a starter there, and then when the season starts we get a reality check when Webb can't endure the week-to-week physicality with his small frame and general lack of durability.
  21. We might honestly pick Buckner, heck a team above us might pick him. From what I've heard he's a scout darling and he doesn't get much traction with fans/media because of his position but he could actually end up going before a guy like Bosa.
  22. That's just not a logical statement. You're inferring that all height-weight ratios are created equal when in fact they're not. I use the word "frame" very specifically. If you saw Webb and Weddle stand side by side in real life you would see two distinctly different body types. The number on the scale doesn't tell the story of someone's body composition. You're body composition is entirely genetic, things like bone density, muscle insertion points, ect. play a major role in your durability as an athlete as well as your ability to generate force and your center of gravity. If there is no correlation between body composition and tackling ability then why are the best tacklers in the NFL exclusively LB's/S's, if there is no correlation shouldn't many corners be just as effective tacklers as their larger framed counterparts? I'm also curious why Webb was drafted to play corner? If he played safety in college, supposedly has the frame to play safety in the NFL, why would we put him through an unnecessary transition to a new position? Was it perhaps that we didn't think he had the frame to play safety in the NFL. My point is just that we shouldn't assume we have a sure fire starter at FS, I'm highly skeptical of the long term success Webb is going to have at FS dealing with the cumulative, physical nature of an NFL season at an even more physically demanding position.
  23. Look, there's a reason every team that needs help at safety doesn't just convert one of their corners. It's different body types, if they had a safety's body type they would've been drafted to play there in the first place more often than not. There's a reason we drafted Webb to play corner coming out of college even though he played safety at Nichols St. It's because he was too small, not physical enough, not durable enough. None of that has changed. This transition is entirely experimental, people need to take a step back if you're assuming this move will go off without a hitch. Has Webb been able to knife in low and make some tackles in his career, sure, mostly close to the LOS on ball carriers that haven't accelerated near their top end game speed. Do you want him at safety coming down in run support, probably not. The NFL season is cumulative, the hits you have to make at either safety spot will wear down a small frame guy like Webb. Even guys that are considered small FS's like ET3 have bigger frames, they can take the knocks. I don't think Webb holds up for an entire season at FS, there's a reason teams aren't converting CB's left and right.
  24. The Ravens have made out like bandits in these 2 blockbuster trades. Guarantees Wentz/Goff will go 1 and 2 regardless of order. This is the equivalent of us having a top 4 pick.
  25. In the article he wasn't comparing him stylistically to Peterson. He was saying that in terms of being a complete RB (speed, power, receiving, blocking) he's the best total package we've seen since AP. I definitely think AP has another gear in terms of speed. LT is a good comparison, I like the Le'Veon Bell comparison a lot. I think a big factor is also that this draft has plenty of depth on defense. If Elliott is truly the highest player on our board at the time and we can't trade out I think you take him and feel good about it. We have an extremely high 2nd round pick, we can trade back into the end of the 1st and go after a CB or Pass Rusher, a good one might even fall to us without having to trade. There is still plenty of opportunities to bolster the defense, Zeke Elliott is the only true offensive weapon in the entire draft. Forsett is on the wrong side of 30 and now all of a sudden we have a workhorse RB in Zeke who gives our entire offense a new dimension.
