Because I'd expect his training camp and preseason play in 2014 to carry more weight in deciding if he still has anything left.

We need to stop drafting injury prone guys as it keeps hurting our depth. Would rather have a less talented, but durable guy for us to develop instead.

Generally, the more catches, the lower the ypc. So if he has 16-17 ypc, then he's unlikely to have 70+ catches, probably around 50-60. And we have too many weapons, both pass-catching and rushng, for any one player to be likely to have 10+ TDs. I know, Torrey had 11 last year, but that was somewhat of a freaky year for Torrey--less than 50% catch rate, but double digit TDs? He was like the Adam Dunn of the Ravens, either a strikeout (INT or some other miscue) or a towering home run (TD or PI on a long bomb).

This is probably the real depth chart ATM: SSS Aiken Camp/Butler (splitting time in the slot) Perriman (rotating in among SSS and Aiken) Waller (inactive unless he shines at ST) So yes, if Marlon doesn't return from his back injury to play in the preseason, he gets I/R 'ed, maybe with a designated to return--though that might be used on Urban instead--unless Camp or one of those other 5 gets hurt, then Marlon gets.the last spot.

Cutting sacks by more than half was also a function of top running game 2014 vs no running game 2013. And healthy receiving corp (minus Dennis) in 2014 vs every WR & TE hurt but Torrey & Dickson so every other week guys are being brought out of retirement or resigned after being cut in 2013. Also finally WCO in 2014 vs whatever that abomination of an Air Coryell that was in 2013. But yeah, definitely from worst to first with the o-line (or close to it)

If he averages 15 yards per reception (Y/R) and has 80 catches, that will be 1200 yards. 80 x 15 = 1200 Only way he has "way higher than 1200" is if he has around 100 catches or 20 Y/R. Do you really see him catching that many? Or having 20 Y/R in a WCO with 70+ catches?

If he's not a starter: 50-60 targets 30-40 receptions Around 18 yards per reception Between 550-650 yards and 3-5 TDs. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If he is a starter: 100-120 targets 70-80 receptions Around 15 yards per reception Bewteen 1,050 and 1,200 yards and 8-10 TDs.

Schaub has lost it. Schaub has the QB equivalent of Steve Blass disease or Steve Sax syndrome. Guess we could call it the Jake effect in "honor" of the 2 QBs who have most recently also suffered this malady: Jake Plummer and Jake Delhomme.

Joe would've gotten 30 TDs and over 4000 yards last year. That and maybe his 2nd ring. And if Torrey could both track the ball in the air and make proper cuts more consistently, Joe would've had fewer INTs too. But really, do we want to keep piling on Torrey, now that he's gone. He was a nice guy, so I can't help but feel for him. I'm sure he was kicking himself for awhile when he saw the tape of that last INT and realized he had a great chance of going up and getting it for what may have been the game winning TD (depending on if our D could keep Brady out of their end zone).

Steve Smith, Kamar Aiken, and Jeremy Butler will be our primary 3 WRs to start the season. Perriman will get mixed in and used for splash plays similar to how Torrey was used as a rookie. But Torrey was a starter and Perriman won't be unless there are injuries and such that open up that opportunity for him. Keep in mind that we're now running a screen-heavy WCO that will feature the TEs and RBs considerably, so a fast but raw WR is not a great fit for our scheme, not as a starter. Aiken and Butler, however, are both good fits for our WCO with a nice combination of size, hands and toughness (for both going over the middle and blocking on screens) with enough speed that they can beat you deep.

Joe's not gettting into the HoF unless he wins 2 more Super Bowls or goes Drew Brees for the next 7 seasons. So, he'll need 2 more championships because there's no way he's putting up Brees-like numbers with Harbaugh's preference for shutting down the passing game with any decent lead in the 4th Qtr, sometimes 3rd Qtr and occassionally even the 2nd--like last year against Carolina and Tampa Bay. The only teams, so far, that Harbaugh will run up the score against are Pittsburgh and New England. So, don't be surprised if Joe falls short of 30 TDs again, because Harbaugh won't let him pad his stats the way every other QB does, at the end of games against weaker defenses that they are dominating. Brady will be up by 40 points and will still be slinging it, even past the 2 minute warning. Joe meanwhile will be handing off to Forsett, Tali, and Buck beginning around the end of the 3rd/start of the 4th, even with just a 10+ point lead. Why do you think, despite having a "balanced" offense, Joe barely cracks the top 10 in pass attempts? Because he generally only passes for about 3 qtrs in most games, since in most games the Ravens have the lead going into the 4th Qtr.

Frank Walker. Cost us more games against the Steelers than anyone in team history, and in an era when the division crown went through them. Cost us quite a few division games as I recall.

Jeromy Miles signed with the Giants. I hope this doesn't come back to bite us like letting Ihedigbo go to the Lions did. Granted, Ihedigbo was a starter while Miles would be a backup, but I'd feel better having a quality backup because Brooks is coming off injury and Elam is still Elam until he proves otherwise. Guess our coaches must like Trawick and Levine more than I do at safety. I do like Levine's versatility at CB and safety.

100 sacks is far from being automatic HoF induction. Here are all the 100+ sack players who are not in the HoF, excluding very recent retirees like Simeon Rice and Kevin Carter or those not yet elligible. That DPOY award may prove to be the difference for him. Also, I suspect that playing his entire career with one team may also work in his favor.

Right now he'd get in, thanks to the DPOY, but he'd have to wait 10 years after becoming eligible like Andre Tippet did, or like how Neil Smith is stil waiting a decade later after he became eligible. Needs to add to his sack totals, get around 125, and maybe get another Pro Bowl nod or 2, and then he's a lock though probably still not first ballot.

Upshaw is excellent at what he does--coverage, edge setting and run stopping. He lacks both the burst and moves to be much of a pass rusher. So, he doesn't get much attention or any hype really. He should be affordable, which if true is good for us. I'd like to keep him, as he has a valuable, if under-appreciated skill set.

How I see our WR corp to start the season (barring injuries etc.) 1) Smith, Sr./Perriman 2) Aiken/Waller 3) Brown/Carter Butler to the PS Campanaro to the PUP/IR As the season progresses, Perriman will earn more snaps. And if Campanaro gets healthy, he moves into the rotation, mainly as slot WR.

Gillmore's upside is Heath Miller, not Gronk, for though they may be similar in size, they're not in athleticism. Area of greatest concern is still CB given how fragile our 2 starters (plus Asa) are, though Arrington's acquisition mitigates this a bit. And Walker and Melvin have the length to at least not be a liability on the outside. After CB, it's TE and Safety because after our vet starters--Gillmore's the starter now at TE, not Pitta--we've got a lot of ??? as depth. I would love to see us re-sign Jeromy Miles and I hope a solid vet corner gets cut before the season who we then sign as insurance.

Where a guy gets picked depends on where teams think they can take him where he is still available. Just because the Ravens had him rated high doesn't mean that they wouldn't have tried to trade back for more picks if they thought he'd still be there early in the 2nd round which is where he would have been if there wasn't that run on WRs--again 6 in the 1st round. That's why the Ravens grabbed him at #26, because they knew he wouldn't be there much longer. Three more WRs were taken among the first 9 picks in the 2nd round, then the run on them ended. With 9 WRs taken during the first 41 picks for 22% of the first 41 picks. Nearly 1 out of 4 picks were WRs. You do have a point though about Strong, I'll give you that. But Perriman would have been the first or second guy taken in the 2nd round if teams hadn't started a run on WRs. Because normally that's where the 5th best WR is drafted.

He wasn't going to be a 1st round pick until there was a run on WRs throughout the 1st round. He was the 5th WR taken out of 6. How often are 6 WRs taken in the 1st round? Last year, with a historic crop of talent at WR, five were taken in the 1st round. The year before there were only 3, and in 2012 there were 4. Remember how Agholor and Dorsett were initially projected to be 2nd rounders too? Also when Strong fell out of the top 4 WRs (and out of the 1st round) that moved the others up one spot. Perriman was picked where he should have been, at #26. He was the BPA at that point as the other defensive guys we were hoping to snag were already taken.

Other than Cody, have we in recent years made a bad pick at DL? Seems even late rounders, those who stay healthy, have been productive for us. I trust our FO when it comes to DL, they rarely miss.

Maxx Williams, Crockett Gillmore, Phillip Supernaw or Nick Boyle, with a very slim chance of Pitta contributing. TE is no longer a weakness.

Perriman's problem isn't with his hands, it's with his concentration. That is potentially fixable, but it's going to take awhile to instill the good habit while ridding himself of that bad one. You have to keep in mind he didn't start playing until he was a junior in high school because he had an inherited knee condition that didn't clear up until he was older, and he's only 21 years old. He's young, somewhat inexperienced and so of course he's going to be raw. But he has the tools, the talent, and the bloodlines. Although I liked Agholor or Devin Smith more (because they don't have the concentration issue) I'm still high on Perriman. He's definitely an improvement over Torrey when he was a rookie. Like Torrey was as a rookie, he'll be our #2 WR by season's end.

Waller has the hands and he has the hips to go with that size and speed. He may not have a lot of experience catching the ball, but he's not as raw as you might think (recommend watching his tape). This guy could be the steal of our draft. First Campanaro, now Waller, our FO is starting to get a handle on how to draft WR in the late rounds.
