  1. I am looking forward to seeing Moore and Reynolds play tonight. Also, I want to watch Correa and Judon. I am little concerned that Dummervil has not even practiced yet. Of course I want to see if the secondary can hold up against Colts starters.
  2. I like Butler. He is not fast enough to be outside, but in the slot, I think he is shifty enough and has great hands. Although he is a first round pick, Elam needs to be cut. I think the team will make room for Waller once he's off suspension. There always seem to be one to two undrafted guys to make the team. I like DT Pierce. He could be a keeper since it is unknown if Ravens will be able to keep Williams. I can't wait to the next game. The second game is where you can pretty much guess whose may be kept or cut by the amount of playing time.
  3. He is the last one that ties back to the legacy of great defenses in Baltimore. I hope the young guys like Correa, Judon, Orr, Henry, Young, and Brooks can continue to show they can accept the torch once it is time to pass. For now, Sizzle seems motivated and that's a good thing for the Ravens. For other teams.., not so much.
  4. I think Orr played well at ILB. Also, I like the new dime defense the Ravens will use. Having a safety like Brooks ,who is physical, to play ILB on passing downs makes the defense faster. A Player like Correa can play inside or outside like Timmons on the Steelers. Ravens may have a one of the strongest LB corp in the league. A good combination of vets and young talented players. I would like Ravens to pick up a corner if available after cuts. The combination of Wright, Powers, and Smith scares me. We could use another solid guy at CB.
  5. If Stanley turns out to be solid and healthy that is a huge win for the front office for the next 10 years.
  6. There are 3 reason why the Ravens should feed them backs. First, they are talented and capable of making plays. Second, a good run is a QB's best friend especially with aging and injury prone receivers. Finally, a good run game wins time of possession. It keeps the Ravens weak secondary on the sideline where they can cover the Gatorade cooler instead of the opponent's receivers.
  7. 1. The defensive secondary is more talented. I think Price, Davis, Young played well. Brooks is a thumper. He adds the physicality to the secondary. They should find ways to get him on the field. Jimmy Smith did not blanket receivers as wells as Price and Davis. Powers got beat like he stole something. Young guys seemed to outplay the vets IMO. 2. Linebacker corps looks awesome. All of them looked like they can contribute. Correa showed he can set the edge and you can see the speed. Orr is physical. Carter looks like a solid blitzer. Judon and Z. Smith put on good presser 3. IMO the run game lacks a physical lead blocker. Whether it’s been Gash, McClain, O’Neal, or Leach. The Ravens run game seems to be at its best when they had a physical lead blocker. That’s not Juice’s game. You can see the burst each has, but I am still concerned with ability to pound it in short yards situation. 4. Receiving corp. Who do you keep? Guys that are not as talented versus guys who can stay healthy. Guys like Waller and Butler are probably not as talented as Gilmore, Boyle, Perriman, and Campanero. However, they are healthy contributors. 5. Both line were great. On Defense, DTs Henry and Pierce stole the show. They played in the Panther backfield. On Offense, Stanley looked solid and Lewis looks like a solid backup at LT
  8. I agree with your first comment. It jumped off the screen, Pees' vanilla play calling style and is predictable blitz schemes. He does not care about yards between the 20s so Ravens defense is design to yield point just not TDs. Bend but don't break is a losing mentality.
  9. Stop cutting players for this kid. I bet he stays healthy in a contract year.
  10. My take on clarity is Smith Sr, Wallace, Aiken, Campanero, Moore, Matthews. Perriman will probably be on PUP if he is not ready by Thursday and eventually IR if guys are shinning in his absence. Reynolds may need a year on the practice squad. I worry about Campanero's health, but the ability is there. Butler looks good, but I don't think he is ahead of the 6 I mentioned. I just hope we don't cut guys like Ochi, West, Brooks, while holding a spot for Perriman and Elam just because they are first round picks.
  11. Ravens seem to have too many season ending injuries before the season actually starts. Another injury to the line and suddenly it's thin. I hope we don't continue to have injuries.
  12. Because Suggs has taken so long to address the media, I wonder if he is thinking about retiring. Good luck to all of those guys. I hope to hear about them playing at least in camp at some point. About Perriman. I'm tired of even seeing his name in these post. This year is now or never. Ravens can't afford to release guys to save a spot for guys that can't stay healthy in practice.
  13. Whether the Ravens would like to acknowledge it or not, they are rebuilding. In 2008, a new coach, a new QB, and a new RB were added. They were rebuilding and went to the AFC Championship game in the same year. I'm excited to see what these new players can do. Who steps up? Rebuilding is not necessarily a bad thing. Whether the make the playoffs or not, they needed changes in the roster. I welcome the changes they made and let the best 53 make the team.
  14. The Ravens have made some moves to improve the team. The problem is so has all the top contending teams like KC, Raiders, Bengals, Steelers, and Texans. I want to see which young players step up and become consistent playmakers . so far the only consistency with young players have been injuries. The recipe for the Ravens success has always been balanced offense, protecting the football, and getting to the QB. We have guys to do that. They need to be healthy and consistent.
  15. The Ravens will probably keep 8 lineman like the article suggested. Stanley, Urshel, Zuttah, Yanda, Wagner. Lewis (G/T), Jensen (C/G), and the winner of Hurst vs. Nembot. It will be interesting to see who get reps as backup LT during preseason.I am hoping Lewis and /or Nembot proves a beeter backup than Hurst If Stanley is good right away, I think the o-line is stronger even though they lost KO.
  16. Irsay kept the name of Colts when he moved the team to Indy. Model at least let the tradition of the Browns stay in the city so the transition was different. A lot of the great Colt players like Makey, Smith, Donovan, Jonny U identify with Baltimore anyway. Irsay was just being a drunk jerk. Other cities like Oakland and St Louis have experienced this as their team bounce back and forth to LA, but none have as much tradition as the Baltimore Colts. The greatest game vs the Giants, Superbowl 3, and Jonny U . Yes, I still like to se the Irsay's Colts suffer with their over-hyped, turnover machine, QB Luck.
  17. Ravens enter the draft with a need at pass rusher and the first defensive guy they select is someone they may play at ILB. Why? Cause the guy they used a 2nd round pick on a couple of years ago is not good enough to keep an undrafted player from taking his time. That would be a mess and another bad draft considering Spence (OLB) and Jack an ILB) were available and they passed on both.
  18. I think it's a mistake not to include the secondary in the article. Smith has been up and down in both health and performance. Webb is in a new position and Weddle and Powers are on a new team. Can these guys stay healthy and how long will it take these guys to gel? That's an issue. I'm not sure Ravens did the right thing in letting Monroe go this early. Stanley may need time to grow. Who is the backups (Lewis, Hurst) and are they any better than Monroe? issue. I don't think Ravens need to go out and get a ILB. They have Mosley, Orr, maybe Correa. non-issue.
  19. I think the guy starting opposite J. Smith is not on the team yet. These young guy may need time to grow. Hopefully Ravens can get a vet to add proven experience to this group. I am not that sold on Wright and Arrington . I think Chargers had a worst pass defense than Ravens so adding Weddle as a starter may not be enough alone.
  20. How can a guy like Weddle, who played of a defense worst than the Ravens, walk in a just take a leadership role? That's the biggest difference in this Ravens team these days. There are no Dogs, alpha males, or guys with swagger on defense. The Webb's, J Smith immediately deferred to Weddle's leadership. Chargers did not have a great defense so this hype like Weddle going to turn things around concerns me. Harbs got rid of the younger hungrier dogs and have a bunch of guys that follow the first vet that walks in the door without proving anything wearing Purple and Black.
  21. If the Ravens are going to be successful this year, it will be because of the offense. Every offseason these Ravens writers hype late round picks like they are going to pro bowlers let alone start. If Canaday was the most impressive, what does that say about 4th round CB Young and the other guys on the team? Ravens are caught up in analytics and value, describing the draft like it's Star Trek. It's not, it's called BPA. The Ravens passed on Buckner, Spence, Jack with an aging defensive passers and a terrible secondary. The hype about improving late season had to do with the quality of QB they faced. I hope one of these young defensive guys step up, but it may take a year or two for them to make an impact.
  22. I think the Ravens might benefit going to a 4-3 defense. It helps everyone they currently have do what they do best. Suggs and Dumervil, at their age, can always play going forward and not need to drop into coverage at times. Jernigan gets to penetrate and not have to eat up blockers. Williams can still two gap the Center and guard along with a rotation of Guy and Davis beside him. Mosley gets to focus on the short middle tackle-to-tackle instead of trying to follow a RB into the flat. Also, Mosley is not big enough to take on guards like a typical ILB in a 3-4 needs to do. Correa is athletic enough to cover RB in the flat and TEs and when ask to rush the passer from the OLB position he will be against TEs and RB while Dummervil occupies the tackle. Ravens would have more potential pass rushers on the field at once - 2 OLB, and 2 DEs. I am not a coordinator, but I can see some benefits and like other fans, can remember when our defense was dominant when Boulware, Sharper, and Lewis just hunted whoever had the ball.
  23. Wallace and Moore are "hope guys". If Wallace did it that well he would not have been available and Moore is a rookie.
  24. The Ravens have not drafted well for several drafts. Looking at the roster, the better players are over 30. Among the young guys, only Tucker looks like one of the best at his position. Mosley is solid but losing ground to some of the other ILBs in the league. OZ gave decent contracts to guys like Webb, J. Smith, and Pitta with none of them earning a pro bowl. Add to that the guys coming off injuries and the guys who are always injured and you get a 17th rank roster.
