  1. I am glad they kept Pierce. I would have like to see Brooks on the team. I had Butler as the 6th or 7th Wr. He would not see snaps unless someone got injured. I would have like to keep him as depth. Not that surprised about Forsett. He has not played that well since the contract and West and Dixon have shown potential.
  2. You think Ozzie cut three players to sign one? No . I think he is risking losing them to other teams without guarantee of a better player.
  3. What are they doing cutting Brooks, Butler , and Campanero? Oh wait.. They will sign Hester. Whew??
  4. They should use that money to help get another CB. Ravens don't need to use a roster spot for just a return guy. Also, if used on offense then he is taking away snaps from younger players
  5. I hope Ravens can stay healthy to see how the full team performs. Perriman looked sharp and if Pitta can return, the offense could be special.
  6. I still believe the glaring weakness of the Ravens is the secondary. The Ravens went into the draft needing to improve at pass rusher, LT, ILB depth, and secondary. Correa gives them depth at ILB and can provide pressure on the outside. Stanley and Lewis have been outstanding so far. Judon and Z. Smith will make an impact this season. However, I don't trust Wright, Powers, Webb in the secondary. I think J Smith, Weddle, and Davis will need to be healthy and play at a high level to keep that group together. I think a vet may be added after cuts and someone else will be cut to make room for Waller.
  7. I think there are 5 guys they wanted to keep. Reynolds, Pierce, Onaswor, Ochi, Nembot. Nembot has already been placed on IR. I expect one or two of the above guys to get IR'd. Ravens probably want to keep him on PS as a returner if Campanero gets injured and Dixon isn't all the way back. I think the Dixon injury gets him on the PS. I don't think other teams will covet him more than Ravens.
  8. I would like to see the Ravens keep DT Peirce to the 53 roster. Since B. Williams is not guaranteed to be resigned, I think Ravens should keep another big DT. I think Pierce is better than Lewis-Moore. Maybe Pierce and/or Ochi gets injured. Powers has shown nothing. I hope they make room for Price by cutting one of those guys. My guess: Offense: (7 WR), (8-OL), (3-TE), (4-RB),(1-FB),(2-QB) =25 Defense (6-DL), (8-LB), (6-CB), (5-S) =25 (Levine as LB/S) SP (3) IR = Ochi, Pierce, Nembot PS = Daniel Brown, Reynolds, Onaswor, Canaday, (other spots from different teams) *someone may get cut eventually to make room for Waller after his suspension is done.
  9. I always liked the idea of letting the young TEs grow. Watson was more than likely only going to be on the team this year. Watson has better route running and better hands, but Waller and Gilmore have more speed and size. Having 2 6'6" TEs with good speed is a tough cover for safeties and linebackers. Brown runs like a wide out. Pitta may also be in the mix at some point. I think the young guys may surprise some people.
  10. I disagree. It's football. The risk of injury is present no matter the type of game or number of games. Keep in mind Pitta got hurt in practice. Perriman injured himself in practice. You don't need contact to pop your Achilles. As a Ravens fan, I can understand the frustration of losing key players in a meaningless game. However, Watson got hurt running. As long as football is a game that involves running and contact, there is no reliable way to mitigate the risk of injuries.
  11. There are a couple of guys that I think deserve to be included. Alex Lewis. A fourth round draft pick that makes the loss of KO inconsequential. With the loss of Watson, I think Waller's stock rises. As a bonus, he is solid on special teams. Just when I have been very critical of OZ recents drafts, he finds a 5th round diamond in Judon and 4th round steals like Moore, Lewis, and Dixon.
  12. 1. TE situation: Loss of Watson What will Ravens do with Pitta? Does he get added to roster even though injured? I like what I’ve seen from Waller and he’ll be back by game 5. Williams, Gilmore, and Boyle are solid guys that can grow. 2. Praying for Dixon health. I would hate to see promise derailed in a preseason game. I think worst case is IR designated to return 3. Undrafted rookies: Ravens seem to always keep at least one undrafted rookie. In my opinion, I like DT Pierce. I have seen nothing from Lewis-Moore and very little from Davis. Both seem to just lean on offensive linemen. Pierce seems disruptive. BTW. Jernigan is a bone-headed player. I predict there will be at least 3 times this season that he extends a drive with a stupid penalty. 4. Positive results on new guys. a. Judon is the real deal. I would not play him at all in game 4. b. Correa is solid. He quietly does the right things. Flushes the QB from the pocket, sets a decent edge, batting balls. Give him a year to get stronger. c. Lewis looks rock solid at guard and more than capable of playing LT. Joe looked good cause with the starting offensive linemen, Lions starters got man handled. d. Chris Moore is another quiet performer. Has not scored but has solid hands and speed. He will make an impact. 5. Guys that stepped up a. Levine looks like he found a niche as a dime linebacker. Just all over the field b. Brooks has stepped his game up. He ran with the starters and held his own. Not a ball hawk, but he is in position to deliver big hits and makes solid open field tackles c. Butler, regardless of Perriman’s status has earned the right to make the team. Solid hand, size, and route running ability. With guys like Smith Sr probably playing his last year, Butler is a keeper d. West looks good, pass protection, out of the backfield, burst. Ravens can aborbs Dixon temporary loss due to the play of West. e. Urban is like trying to throw over a tree. He disrupts the passing lane and no FG is guaranteed with him on the field. You can’t teach 6’7” f. Orr is just all over the field. At times, he looks better than Mosley. Nasty hitter If Joe, Suggs, Smith Sr., Weddle, Dumervil, J Smith can continue to perform as expected and Ravens can stay healthy, look out.
  13. I hope Dixon is OK and can return at some point this season. Hopefully MRI comes back good. Give Houston the ball all of game 4. No need to put West or Allen out there.
  14. You can't bubble wrap Perriman forever. If he is cleared, then they should play him. Otherwise you are going to cut a Wr to save a spot for a guy that has never played with contact.
  15. My wish list for joe in game 3. Stay healthy, no turnovers, get pass protection, sustain drives, deep ball, TD
  16. It's now or never. I don't think the Ravens should or will cut a guy for a player who has yet to even practice. Also, why save him for game 4 of the preseason? Either he practice and plays in game three or he is IR'd.
  17. Yes. Foresett's game has declined since they paid him. They have 3 other backs and they have a position of need. I don't know what free agent corners are available but they need to do something. CBs is a glaring weakness and they prevent the defense from getting off the field.
  18. Even the announcers stated Luck had all day to throw the ball no matter the down and distance. There were several third and long situations that the Colts converted even with the back up QB. Front office, for better or worst, has invested a lot on the defensive side of the ball with drafts , contracts, free agents brought in. It's time to look at the coordinator.
  19. Josh is facing guys they may not be in the NFL by September. He makes plays with his legs more than his arm. Mallett has been steady and has more experience. I like Mallett.
  20. Of all the guys in the secondary returning from last season, Brooks seems to be the one who stands out as improving. He has defended passes, shown he's a consistent open-field tackler, and lays the wood. I hope he makes the team. Other than Powers and Elam, I think there are guys in the secondary that's good enough to make a difference. The coordination matters. Pees is an issue. If Pagano, Ryan, Williams, Phillips, Zimmerman, had the same guys, the defense would be greatly improved.
  21. As far as the run defense, I think that was a shot at the starters on the defensive line to let them know guys like DT Pierce or Henry, might beat them out. Carl Davis has done next to nothing. Jernigan needs to stop worrying about the jersey and get it done. On the secondary, they are getting toasted with crossing routes. It’s like Pees can’t adjust. I don’t care how much of a pass rush you get. If the CBs are 7-8 yards off the ball, its pitch and catch. I thought the point of the draft was to add playmakers at the skill position and they wait until round 4 to get a CB. OZ just don’t value the skill position (Wr or CB) and it shows. They plug in these mid round picks and undrafted free agents against a team best receivers and that’s what you’ll get. When are they going to learn to stop looking for diamonds in the rough at the skill positions and improve their scouting and dig a little deeper in the pocket to get top talent in a passing league.
  22. There are a couple of players that I think stepped their game up. Butler has played well against the opponents first and second defensive backs. Judon is abusing the second team tackles. Brooks looks like the best tackler in the secondary. Levine has been solid. Where was Price? On the flip side , there are guys that need to step. First, Dean Pees defense is predictable. He needs to go for the Ravens to move forward. Until then the offense will have to carry the team regardless of the talent on defense. Our first team defense can't get off the field. Completing 3rd and long has to be on the coach. Picking up 23 yards on 3rd and 17 is ridiculous. Powers and Elam look lost. They are always looking in chase mode.
  23. What the first 2 preseasons games has shown is that the Ravens secondary should have been more of a priority in the draft and free agency. All camp we heard about KC. How he can play everywhere, but where are the splash plays? Ravens, again, used a second round pick on a guy that will see limited time on the field. Orr looks better at ILB and Judon looks better as a pass rusher Also, Powers looks lost in the slot as CB. Can Pees come up with a scheme to cover crossing routes cause that's open all night against the Ravens. The PR machine must be at work mentioning Elam who still looks like he can't tackle or cover. Brooks, Price and Levine have played better.
  24. Powers and Arrington are 2 free agents that looked ok on their formers teams. I can't see how Wright is considered a starting CB. Some of this is on Pees. When a team can consistently pick up 3rd and 15 or more yards, it's like what is the coach calling. I know its preseason but its not like he calls plays differently during the season.
