I think it's more the fast and bad hands aspect. Hopefully we will find that is all hearsay and he comes to camp a well rounded receiver that we can rely on not to stall a drive. As someone else posted earlier, it does look like he snatches the ball, and does not let it hit his chest. I have yet to see him really high point a ball yet, but from the highlights (take them with a grain of salt) he always caught it away from his body.

I don't understand this Bama/Ozzie, thing. Over the last 10 years I can only think of 3 Alabama players we have drafted and none of them were in the first round. We drafted Upshaw in 2012 in the second, Cody in 2010 in the second as well, then I think the next was LeRon McClain in the fourth round of the 2007 draft. Why do people keep saying he will never learn and keeps drafting Alabama guys? In the last 5 years he has drafted two guys in the second round from Alabama. Doesn't seem like the biggest pattern in the world.

Yup, that would suck, but at least with the cap increasing that much, most of that would be freed up from the cap increase alone. Hopefully even if we tagged him we could lock him up with a nice 8-10 mil deal that can work for both sides.

Yea that would be awesome if we could lock up Arthur Jones too. Really it would help us to do that, as we would have more flexibility with Ngata next year. If we were to cut him, we still have to find more quality D line help. Having Jones would certainly ease the pain of cutting him, not to mention give us a little more leverage if Ngata is willing to take a lower salary or be extended.

That would be cool, although it probably will just mean the people we sign will cost more, because other teams have more to spend and compete with our offers. Good news none the less, ans the Cap should certainly go up because we know revenues are certainly not declining.

No doubt, Pitta is no Jimmy Graham. However, this is also just negotiations. His agent is going to try and get him paid, it doesn't mean that is what he will get. Shoot for the moon and settle in the middle. That is hopefully what will happen. I can't see us over paying for Pitta. We probably won't get a discount, but if we sign him, it will be a fair deal for a good, solid tight end in his prime.

Yup, we made the deal, we live with the consequences. The Ravens have literally 0 leverage on Haloti right now. Cutting him hurts us, I doubt we want to extend him right now, and he doesn't have to budge. Next year will be a different story, and maybe he will be willing to do something then.

I doubt Pitta will be "giving" anything. He has been paid as a late 3rd rounder up to this point. This is his first and possibly only shot to make a big deal. Suggs' deal does not benefit the Ravens anymore than it benefits Suggs, however, he already got his big payday. You cannot expect Pitta to leave much money on the table just for the sake of the Ravens. He is going to want to get paid.

I would love to see Jacoby stay, although it would have to be for the right price. I'd be willing to pay him for what he is, and maybe slightly more, but if a team wants to give him big money... no way. Personally I think he is a little underutilized on in our offense. He has done some great stuff underneath when given the chance, and he always brings the deep threat. The biggest issue we have is the lack of a Boldin type receiver. No one can just go up and get the ball. That is where both Jacoby and Torrey are bad. Pitta's return should help that, but we really need a receiver that can do that too.

Good for Ed, I still hope he has a good finish to the year, but I hope it is on a tanking Jets team. I cannot root for the Jets no matter who is on their team. I cannot stand them. I hope Ed still notches some INT's for them.

Yup play till they have to drag your old butt off the field if that is what you want. Screw the loaylists who think he should hang em up because the team he played for all these years did not want him anymore. He is and will always be a Raven and the Ravens best safety. However, Ed needs to make decisions for Ed and if he feels he still has even a slight desire to play ball, then he better do it now. He will not get another chance to relive his pro ball days and in 5 years he will not be playing anymore, no matter how bad he wants too.

I don't see any way that happens. Fist off, he is playing bad with a lingering hip injury. He will not help anyone right now, unless you give him some time to sit out and maybe hope he can play well in a playoff run. Then, if the pats did pick him up on waivers they would have to pay him his entire salary I believe. No way anyone is paying that, as they could have had him for that before the season started, when people thought he could at least make an impact. If anyone takes him I think it could be us.

If we had a spot for him without cutting someone decent sure. Even if he cannot start right now, letting him rest, and coach up Elam the rest would not be bad.

A 6.8 mill (or what ever it was) cap hit for a franchise QB made that necessary? No! Boldin's cap hit making him one of the highest cap hits this year on our roster is what made this deal necessary.

It sucks for sure. I feel for Boldin, I mostly just wanted him to have an easy path to retirement without any turmoil. However, if the Ravens felt they needed to clear his salary, this really is the best thing for both. We at least get something for him, and he goes to a good organization that will certainly be vying for another superbowl run. I hope nothing but the best for Boldin, but I hope when its all said and done, he still looks at the Ravens as his team. I know the Ravens from top to bottom loved Boldin, but they had to do what they felt they had to do to ensure they keep a competing presence going forward. Hopefully it works out for both parties.

so does anyone know how this will affect the cap? If I am not mistaken his salary was something like 6 mil but with a 7 mil cap hit??? Do we still have that 1 million cap hit or does all that go with him?

Damn! That one really stings! I hope Boldin does not have any hard feelings here, at least he's going to a contender who could possibly put him in back to back superbowls, but I just hate to see him leave us after only 3 years. This one stings as bad as Mason and Heap leaving. I was hoping we could have extended him for another year or two to keep him here. I guess he didn't want to budge from his deal. He sure was a great player for us.
