Can someone make a handy directory where you can click the members name to easily send a private message? That was very handy. I know Corvus made it before.
That was very handy. I've added it to the team selections thread - http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/topic/57324-2014-forum-mock-team-selections-and-directory/
Someone check it, but I think that's the right order.
Thank you for this, it's going up (can be taken down if not right but I trust you)
How much time do we have between picks? I will pick soon, just asking because of my fellow europeans
Good question.
12 hour time limit. If you miss it, next man is up but the skipped GM can pick any time
Didn't expect that choice.
Decent cap space, best young QB in the league, some talented parts to work with
Okay, starting soon. Has anyone made an actual draft order with names instead of sing-up number? I want to put it as the first post in the thread to keep it simple. Any help would be appreciated ![]()
I'd also prefer random order and pick from that. May ruffle some feathers/strategies but it keeps it lively, fun, and fair.
Good ol reliable Playoff Peyton. Even the SB he won, people question if he deserved the SB MVP. Let's be very clear about how bad that Bears offense was. Someone name me 3 starters on that offense and I'll let you use Rex Grossman as 1.
I said this somewhere else, but I was so happy to see those bs receiver screens shut down, as well as those cheap pick routes. I've said all season, if you get physical with the Broncos receivers, minus D Thomas, they will begin to crumble and even he looked a little phased around the 2nd-3rd quarter. Seattle set the tone EARLY.
Was happy the right person got MVP. It would've been a robbery if someone on the defense didn't get it. He obviously deserved it and the real MVP award should be given to the actual most valuable player. Not the just the player with the best stats.
Brett Favre looks like him and Ed Reed go collecting cans and asking for spare change in the off season.
2006 Bears offense, hmm. Okay, no cheating, I think I have three. The original RG3, like you said. Thomas Jones - RB, I think he had supplanted Benson by that point. Olin Kruetz (sp?) - C. Was Musin Muhammed on that team? Earl Bennett? Those are my best shots, very forgettable offense.
Totally agree. Denver kept trying the screens and 4 yard in-routes and Seattle was just sitting on it, waiting to pop those guys. Smith was deserving, you could have also given it to Chancellor as well.
Ok, steering away from any political/social arguments:
How does the MVP voting work? Is it player ballot? Do they select from a few names?
So what did we learn
- Peyton still chokes; post-season Peyton is a different guy than his regular season counterpart. Can't throw the ball past 10 yards which is a little bit of a disadvantage when you're trailing by 35. Loves to - HAS to - play small-ball.
- Denver is soft. Or is Seattle just that beastly? Seattle's defense put a whipping on every Broncos receiver that caught a pass. The Broncos didn't want to play past the first quarter. Kam Chancellor was awesome.
- Glad they gave the MVP to one of the deserving defenders.
- Brett Favre has been living in a shed in the woods for the past year - LINK - it's the only explanation for that mess
Any hatred towards Sherman is well deserved.
Lynch on the other hand...he doesn't want to talk to the media, that's not his thing, I don't know why anyone would have a problem with it? We're all different, and frankly, if I was a NFL player, I would probably hate the media as well. They take any little thing you say and try to twist it into some big story when it's really not. They did it last year to us, and they'll probably do it again this year. I commend Lynch for basically giving a middle finger to the NFL and the media and saying "I'm not going to play your media game."
That's fine but he was fined $50K during the season for skipping out on media. The fine was taken back after Lynch promised to fulfill his media time throughout the postseason. The media says he didn't but the NFL sides with Lynch and apparently he won't be fined.
I don't care. Media day is boring and unwatchable. Lynch probably would not have said anything ground-breaking, regardless. It's become more of a story that he didn't talk which is ridiculous. But we all know the media will take any little slight personally and cry about it *cough*GlennYounes*cough*
Great read from Kevin Byrne on how the hiring went down and Harbaugh's enormous role throughout the process.
Lol Mike Preston owned again. Funny how Byrne's story actually makes sense, is consistent, and goes with everything Harbaugh/Kubiak/Dennison said at the press conference while Preston's column was rambling and just false.
Great article by Byrne and thanks for sharing I probably would not have seen it until tomorrow
i can't remember what part, there was various tweets and things saying Montgomery was leaking info to Preston.
It's no coincidence NO ONE knew ANYTHING about this oc job, not even AW, after Montgomery is gone.
I don't recall any of those tweets but I could jive with that, your reasoning makes sense. That implies, though, that all of Preston's articles and 'insight' since then have been fabricated - which I think is the case - passing his slant / bias as fact. His column today was just sloppy and sad.
I think Kubiak and Dennison were brought here by Harbaugh. Kubiak must have said his name 10+ times during the press conference and stated that Harbaugh was the main reason.
Anyways, steering away from Mike Preston, I love the overhaul to our offensive staff. Sad to see successful position coaches like Harman and Montgomery go but the offense has been substandard for too long.
it actually didn't have anything to do with that. Montgomery was mike Preston's leak to the media apparently and that's why he went. Biscotti even joked about it in the SOTR press conference
I don't think that was it, I interpreted that as Bisciotti saying HE was the leak... and then he went back and had a private interview with Preston but whatever. I could be wrong, when was it during the presser?
That's a nice narrative, but so far only Harmans and Montgomery have left/been let go, and Harmans was a Billick hire. Not to mention that Harbaugh has control over the coaching staff. I wouldn't read too much into this, it only makes sense that if you're trying to implement a new offensive scheme, you'd want to bring in guys who have been running it for years - the guys we've brought in from the Texans will make the offensive transition much smoother because they already know the system and what Kubiak expects.
And Montgomery was a Harbaugh-fire. Watch the end of the year presser when he's asked why Ray Rice wasn't playing for a series or two. He was mad, it was the RB coaches call, RB coach was canned.
The biggest issue is the OL. If we had respectable blocking last season the running game would have been effective and the passing game would have been clicking and not have to sustain the entire unit.
Great hire which is true to John Harbaugh's form. Again hired a former head coach with a great resume for leading an offense. Best man available for the job. I don't think for a minute, now that Coach has made his decision, that Biscotti had his hand in this. Kubiak gives us exactly what John Harbaugh said he was looking for.
So true. He's always targeted the best he can. He did it again.
I don't read Mike Preston, so... yeah. The Sun on the whole is a joke outside of Aaron Wilson, who does the best job covering the Ravens out of anyone.
He pimps the Harbaugh buddy/ego rhetoric harder than anyone. Wilson is by far the best Ravens coverage you will get, totally agreed.
People around here idealize everyone in the organization. The fact is people in the NFL are just people, they're just as flawed, catty, and horrible as the rest of us. If you think it's all kittens and cookies behind the scenes, you're incredibly naive. Especially with the egos you're dealing with in a league and a sport like this.
Everything is not rainbows and butterflies but Mike Preston is not gospel, either
Is there any way I can watch the presser on mobile?
Yes, if you download the app I believe it is hosted as well. That is, if you have a decent internet/wifi connection
I want to be the first to apologize to John Harbaugh.
Nobody saw this coming. One day I'll learn to stop believing the media about the Ravens. They're like the freaking FBI. They reveal nothing.
Our site is reporting that dozens of interviews happened, reaching all the way into college ranks - up to two interviews a day. We heard hardly a peep. Crazy behind the scenes stuff.
With numerous other staff changes coming
Press conference at 3PM ET - watch it live on baltimoreravens.com
Once it's official, we should probably start a new thread
Wilson reporting Kubiak in as OC, Dennison also coming with him in some capacity
Presser at 3 for the new OC. lol such mystery ooooh.

@BMoreBirdsNest They put up something that I didn't say. There were no negotiations during the season, but they've talked to him since then
Just to clarify, @MZenitz did NOT say there has been no contact between Monroe & Ravens. Just that he wasn't negotiating during the season.
@jurgenhadley @mattvensel Wasn't Vensel. A misunderstanding of what was said. Apologize for the error and just corrected it. (Ryan)
Well that's been debunked - changing title!
