Him giving up those picks wasn't that smart, but I do admire him for having a guy he wanted and went after him.  Id rather move up to get the guy I really want and fail, then end up drafting a last resort player and him failing.

Moving up and giving up high dollar picks compounds the error when you select a bust. The best picks, in terms of building a team and winning games, are weighted with value.

  2. McDaniels' punter called him "a little punk". His punter! He traded us a boatload of picks to move up for Tebow. He has terrible rapport with players (they don't want to play for him) and his teams lack mental toughness. Check out any Youtube video on him, it's embarassing.

Harbaugh's seat is warming but it would be a gigantic step backwards to choose Josh McDaniels. Ask any Broncos fan or media member.

Coach Don Coryelll honestly Im kind of against putting in HCs unless they do something really spectacular or note worthy like Bill Parcells making bad teams great more than once or Joe Gibbs coaching scrubs to beat pros that kind of thing.

I know it's Wikipedia but they did a good job aggregating some points and quotes in his favor for HOF consideration - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Coryell#Hall_of_Fame_consideration

On further consideration, I'd probably leave Taylor off, you're right.

I just want to clarify I was speaking towards elite I feel like he's a better quarterback then the people you named above but.. Elite?. So try this name two elite quarterbacks and then put Joes  name next to them I'll do it first Brady, Montana. I put Joe's name next to Brady, Montana... it doesn't belong there yet.

Now that's a different argument. You don't have to be subjectively 'elite' to get paid huge money.

The name belongs there in terms of this video and some NFL records but, yes, Joe Flacco is not a legendary NFL QB like those two

Glad to hear it's already been decided we won't make the playoffs after week 5. Guess I'll stop watching

We're not making it for the next 3 years, either. Hey, which stocks should we invest in?

So first your statement about doing you a favor... well you missed it. 120 million at that time the highest paid quarterback ever. I thought this forum was called tracking Joe's progress, not worship the ground he walks on. Listen when you want to have a real conversation and not some delusional "Joe Flacco is a steal  at 120 million" I'll talk to you. Come back down to earth Joe is decent. By no stretch of the imagination should he ever be making more money than Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or... the list goes on, get real dude.

"At the time the highest paid ever"... since that time? Point to guys like Ryan, Dalton, Tannehill, Kaepernick, Cutler, etc and that's proof positive of Flacco being worth it. That's market value, that's what you pay. At least our QB (and, more importantly, team) has something to show for it and something to build upon.

Lol the good ole supporting cast and coaching argument.......

That we've seen for almost a decade on this board...... Man its played out already.

Wanna know the two variables that haven't changed in all the years of these excuses.

    Joe Flacco and John Harbaugh.

The explanations generally stay the same - the goal posts just keep getting moved...

    - Can't beat the Steelers

    - Can't beat Roethlisberger

    - Isn't a leader

    - Can't win the big one

    - QBs aren't responsible for wins

    - Doesn't have fantasy stats

Have you been dissatisfied with the teams' performance over the past "almost a decade"? What are people supposed to be "excusing"?

Yes, Flacco does have a Super Bowl ring. So do guys like Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and Doug Williams. In actuality, outside of his run of fantastic play throughout the 2012-13 postseason (which resulted in him landing a massive contract extension, by the way), Flacco has been incredibly average throughout his eight-year NFL career.

He still doesn’t have a 30-touchdown pass season on his resume, and it’s becoming more and more clear that the success Flacco enjoyed early in his career was a direct result of him having an excellent supporting cast around him (the same can be said for coach Harbaugh). He is now the highest-paid signal caller in the league in terms of average annual salary, and in our eyes, paying a guy who graded out as the 24th-best quarterback in the league that kind of money will continue to prevent the Ravens from truly rebuilding a Super Bowl-caliber team anytime soon.

When quoting outside sources, please include some of your own thoughts. Don't want to tread into murky copyright issues with "Jimmie Kaylor" or this "cheatsheet" website.

  8. The commonality between Cameron and Trestman being fired is baffling play calling, misuse of talent, and mounting frustration from players. I've also seen suggestions that Bisciotti actually fired Trestman over Harbaugh's head - haven't we gotten over those lies the first time around? This is some lazy, Mike Preston-level filler nonsense.

Not mad at him for just that catch. He dropped a perfectly placed, easy catch that went right through his hands earlier in the game that probably would have gone for a TD. And he's had other drops too. Don't even hate him, just concerned about the hands talk being accurate with the drops.

The concerns obviously are accurate but, on the other hand, we've seen him make some hard catches. He can do it. He can work through the frustrating drops, players have in the past, but it's undoubtedly a concern right now.

You really believe Campabero is still a viable receiver for us?

I've seen injury plagued receivers like Amebdola,  but Camp tops the scale when it comes to injuries.   He is done..

Not really but he would give us something AND he could be a returner for us, allowing us to move on from Hester. He will probably get hurt again, sure, but he'll have 'potential' for those couple of weeks lol

Even with Ryan Tannenhill former coaches will not say bad thing about them.  That's just business and being professional.

And Gary is having a great time with Denver.  Whole Ravens experience for him was great.  He also had great thing to say about Matt(ex-texan QB)  Why would he say anything negative?

Why would he be so effusive if he did not believe it?

Gary said he would only leave Baltimore for 1 job and it just so happened he was offered it. About a year later, he's hoisting a Lombardi trophy. Hard not to feel good for Gary!

We fire OCs like Browns fire HCs and QBs.

It's clear to me where problem lies. Marty will be the next scapegoat if production won't pan out.

The next OC(whoever/however great he past repetoir)  will be the scapegoat.

I am glad Treatment is gone.  Never thought he was a good hire.

I wonder who we will pick as our new OC next year,  but it's not going to be easy knowing that we have a history of firing OCs abruptly when Flacco stinks it up.   Hard to trust Ravens organization that his job will be secure.

We've only 'fired' two offensive coordinators in the past 8 years. Two moved up to HC jobs, on the shoulder of the supposed 'problem'

you know..its going to get to a point where people are going to realize that flacco is also a big reason why we havent had a top offence since he was drafted :/

really..it will happen..eventually when theres 3 more OC's that come and go in the next 3 years people here who love flacco will say..''maybe its joe...;(''

wont matter though..he'll have 4 more babies and have his hundreds of millions and laugh it off in happy retirement and with no more SB appearances to show for it.

So what difference does that make if the people in charge are giving Flacco extensions and praising him? Maybe when Flacco's gone some posters will be here moaning about how we need a QB like Flacco and saying 'remember when we had Joe?'

NFL QBs are a shot in the dark, our organization is glad we have a legitimate one.

Explain our OL ranking 2nd and 4th in sacks given up the past two years if Castillo is so bad.

Flacco has been beastly in avoiding sacks and throwing it up to save those stats. The OL has been a weak point but I think it's less about Castillo and more about the health and talent around it. The line was in total disarray yesterday.

Nail on the head. NFL network too. The days of rich eisen and mooch and prime and Irvin on total access every night at 7pm are long gone. Now they circulate hack job journalists who don't know football to come in and try to wise crack on each other and report on things said on Twitter. It's gotten horrible and it used to be a real quality network.

Their doom was sealed once they hired Gregg Rosenthal from PFT as head editor (or some capacity). He has ushered in fools like Dave Dameshek, Dan Hanzus, Adam Rank, Elliott Harrison, and some others. If those names don't wrinkle your nose, you made the smart decision and stopped watching/reading these guys.
