I know... and I hope.
Don't want to see him become like so many others. No passion, homework, or charisma - collect your paycheck and get fat. MJD, Ike Taylor, McGinest, Bruschi, are all embarassments
Guys like Irvin, Sanders, Cris Carter aren't much for analysis but get by on charisma
Guys like Heath Evans, Trent Dilfer, Tim Hasselbeck can analyze but have as much personality as your pet fish. Evans also has his fetish for all things Patriots and Saints which is pathetic.
Steve can be the best of all of it... if he does it right. Ray Lewis flamed out as a TV guy.

Nothing against Boldin, but I remember wanting Marshall that same year since they were both trade options (although not for the two 2nd round picks Miami gave up). He had a very down year last year and 3 season ago, but with his size and skill set, he should be able to play another 3 years, at least, at a high level in the right system and he can definitely be that "complimentary receiver" the front office talks about.
Pair Marshall with Wallace and Perriman and aggressively go after a top CB in the first round of the draft.
Only thing with Marshall is that he's been on 3 teams since then (soon to be 4 if he does get cut) and has thoroughly worn out his welcome in each city. It's not like the Dolphins owner is bemoaning the tough decision to let him go 4+ years later like Bisciotti is.
The Ravens have great locker room chemistry. Is that still the case when a documented locker room cancer rolls into town?
Plus, Zrebiec is just straight-up guessing. It's a good guess, no doubt, but, man, I miss Aaron Wilson. That guy had some legit sources and did his homework. No offense to Zrebiec, but his analysis and reporting is run-of-the-mill stuff.
Just now, ravensnation5220 said:That's what I've been saying with Dalvin Cook. His case was dropped but he has so many other arrests and citations that you can't just ignore it. Yet media analysts and draft people, even the Baltimore Sun mention him as an option for us. I don't understand it. It's like they don't follow the ravens
They're just guessing at this point. Give them some time. Once in a while, a reporter snags a decent source and makes good on a selection. But, overall, outside of the top 5, it's darts on a board.
Look at who that mock drafter guessed the Ravens would pick in 2016, then 2015, then 2014. I like looking at them but it's a shot in the dark.
4 minutes ago, usmccharles said:Actually, that's exactly what I hope they will do, because SSr would call them out
This is true. Put him on some cupcake show like Good Morning Football and when the male co-hosts roll up with their sweaters and plaid straining against their beer guts, then try to talk to Steve about football or create drama, Steve would give them this treatment...

if he is still there in 4th or 5th should we just take him?
Bisciotti's one mandate has been no guys with DV history, they've said that pretty much since 2014 onwards. They won't draft him at all, not even a UDFA. There's a video of him punching a woman in the face. Outside of the obvious moral/ethical/legal issue, why put the team through that again?
9 minutes ago, rmw10 said:That was how I viewed it as well. I don't doubt we'll draft a guy as well, but when I was watching that video, my immediate thought was a veteran.
I mentioned it in one of the threads in RT, but I felt that description fit Garcon perfectly.
Yes, I love Garcon and I hope that's it.
Brandon Marshall (if cut) could be a dark horse. Jeffrey will be pricey. Probably the same with Pryor, plus he doesn't fit what they want.
edit - Away from that, though... if they were to get a guy like that in the mid-to-late rounds, who would be an option?
Power to him but, man, is he annoying.

He calls games for Fox, I think. That's about it. Kyle Shanahan probably just wants full reign on the team like his daddy did.
33 minutes ago, RaineV1 said:According to DeCosta the Ravens are looking for: "I think we're looking for a guy that can catch the ball, move the chains and get critical first downs when needed." He added that he wanted someone that could line up all over the field, similar to how SSS did.
Aside from the top couple of guys, Zay Jones and Evan Engram seem to perfectly fit what the Ravens want.
Maybe, but judging by that quote and what they've done in the past, they're more likely to target a veteran. I'd love them to draft and develop, though.
Someone worth watching.
Hopefully they don't match him with some brain-dead gossip columnist hack who treats Sundays like the latest episode of the Kardashians. Be inspired, be analytical, be unique, be genuine, treat it with respect and you will be the best there ever was. Not some blathering talking head repeating nonsense or former player getting fat and collecting a check. There are a lot of those.
Don't lose your head, Steve! Keep it real like you always have.
The corner video boards are cool. The brick/steel they did last time was cool, especially coupled with the underlighting.
The escalators will hopefully just allow the walkers to get out faster.
Hope they keep the colored-in endzones. That was a great look.

LOL I hope. Take it out of the pockets of that oversized child. Except he gets it from innocent fans and revenue-sharing.

49ers are giving John Lynch an almost unprecedented six-year deal to become their GM, per sources.
Jed York strikes again. We'll see where this goes.
Just now, rmcjacket23 said:Your contract details don't add up. You've got $40M in salaries, but also have a $12.5M bonus, which would make it a $52.5M contract.
I think he meant $40M total, $20M guaranteed with $12.5M of that being a signing bonus.
The 'salaries' are probably 'cap hits' per year.
3 minutes ago, ellicottraven said:A five year deal just south of 40M seems about right with over 20M guaranteed and a 12.5M bonus. Salaries/Yr: 6M/Yr1, 6/2, 8/3, 10/4, 10/5. What do you think?
Sounds about right. He would be ~32-33 by then which is roughly when those guys start to decline (looking at guys like Vince Wilfork, Casey Hampton, Kyle Williams, Sam Adams, etc).
He's in his prime
Mike Preston has a new column imploring the Ravens to re-sign Brandon Williams
I agree, the NT is the key in the 3-4 and Pierce looks good but is he there yet? My only worry is health. He hasn't missed any games recently but he was getting a lot of treatment during the season and sat out some practices. Of course, this is probably normal or preventative.
I'd sign him and I think a big enough signing bonus could keep the overall cost of the deal down. He's got a growing family and his rookie deal wasn't very lucrative.
My ideal contract offer would be 5 yr, $38 million with incentives that could get it toward $44 million.
What kind of incentives would you put in for a guy who does the majority of the dirty work? Snaps, games? He gets some production but the things he does frees up other players, lets them make plays.
5 hours ago, Pats said:We are more well rounded than the falcons in my opinion. Better defense definitely and they are slightly better on offense. I think it goes 30-27 our way.
I tend to agree and I think the big game experience factors in.
The Patriots team is mostly intact - notwithstanding Gronk - something the Falcons haven't faced in the playoffs.
He turned 27 in November so he doesn't quite need the cane yet.
Can never tell with kickers, their confidence and form sit on a razor's edge. Tucker has the benefit of having a great (and consistent) support team, which he credits all of the time. He also has a good personality for it, in my opinion.
I'm just going to enjoy it
Chance of happening?
16: R1P16 - CB MARSHON LATTIMORE - OHIO STATE
47: R2P15 - G FORREST LAMP - WESTERN KENTUCKY
78: R3P14 - C PAT ELFLEIN - OHIO STATE
102: R3P38 - CB HOWARD WILSON -HOUSTON
121: R4P16 - WR ZAY JONES - EAST CAROLINA
160: R5P15 - DL TANOH KPASSAGNON - VILLANOVA
199: R6P14 - EDGE EJUAN PRICE - PITT
237: R7P16 - RB JAMES CONNER - PITTSBURGH
Probably not. This was with Matt Millers board.
He needs a couple more years of his level of play. He's been the best interior lineman of his generation. Maybe the best lineman - period - especially if you consider his versatility.
2 minutes ago, rmcjacket23 said:One would THINK this would be the case, but I'm never surprised. I don't see a ton of difference between Hurst and like Jah Reid, and he played four years here.
Honestly, how many people here actually thought Hurst would make the 2016 Ravens? Feels like we've literally known that we needed to upgrade the reserve Tackle position for at least 2-3 years now, and probably haven't done a good job at it.
As has become the norm, I expect him to be competing in training camp for a roster spot. I don't think we just cut him completely and move on, though nobody would be unhappy with that.
No doubt about that. Perhaps the new OL coaches bring in 'their guys' and usher out the old - as is so often the case. Wesley and Nembot hang around the roster, we'll see if they stay healthy.
19 hours ago, darklight1216 said:It might be even more than that. Maybe he already has a significant amount of control.
Definitely, I'm sure of it.
18 hours ago, jboy19 said:Caught my secret plan lol. But yeah, I guess they didn't feel comfortable with him on the right side on short notice. They do have reason to find out what Hurst can do one last time before deciding his RFA tender I guess.
I guess, but unless Hurst came out and started literally folding Bengals in half, he seemed destined for the low tender (if anything). He seems like a prime target for the 'upgrade the OL' mandate.
