Why does everyone think Leach is replaceable? You think Pierce would have been as good without him?
Thinking about it, I'm not sure this trade is great for SF, honestly. Boldin is basically a slower version of Crabtree. Kaep has a rocket arm, but will he be able to deliver the ball to Boldin in tight coverage? And I love Q, but he's gonna lose every battle against SEA's corners.
I'm 100% on the Danario Alexander train.
Boldin wasn't good against man coverage either, he just knew how to catch passes in traffic.Boldin was our one receiver who consistently played well against man coverage this year. Joe will have to run around like the second coming of Fran Tarkenton just to find guys open, unless the Ravens find someone to replace Boldin in this role.
A Giants fan trying to get me off the ledge:
"Boldin wasn't that good in the regular season, primarily beat up on poor DBs or favorable matchups in playoffs. I remember him struggling in the Pats game before Talib got injured."
Your agenda is so obvious, just stop. What a piss poor move by the front office.... Flacco got what he wanted being the highest paid player in the league in AAV so now he's going to have to deal with the consequences of seeking that payday...
Maybe just maybe if Flacco was willing to sacrifice a little for the team others would have followed suit. Flacco said the usual buzz words, like it wasn't about the money but respect so how can anyone expect any other players on the roster to not seek the highest payday.
Welcome to the new Ravens... I have zero interest in watching the Super Bowl video .
I hope Boldin gets a few rings with the Niners. If he chooses to leave after this season the 49ers will parlay that 6 round pick into a better pick .
Jacoby is not a #2. We can't cut Boldin without a real backup plan.
Pretty much, people have made up their minds about Flacco. Like I've said in the past some guys are just punching bags. Eli is another guy who is always dumped on no matter what he does. There's no point in trying to defend Flacco (not saying I don't support him or anything) because the people who dislike him (and that seems to be pretty much everyone) have already made up their minds about him regardless of what he has/can accomplish. Hell, I saw people getting mad about his decision to go to McDonalds after signing the contract.
No team will pay Boldin 7M/year, including the Ravens.anquan boldin is not now nor has he ever been a benchrider and he is worth every single penny of the 7 million we don't have another reciever with his hands on the team .
That said, we still can't afford to lose him.
We have no depth a LB but honestly I think Boldin has more value than Ellerbe considering
1) This will be an offensive team going forward
2) Ellerbe is an injury risk
I just can't get over signing your QB to top dollar money then potentially getting rid of his only truly reliable receiver. That's called setting someone up to fail. You'd think they would have learned by now.
True but chemistry is important. Flacco's chemistry with Boldin is off the charts.Let's not forget the WR class this year is pretty deep. If we cut Boldin maybe we take Tavon Austin in the 1st and plug him in to Boldin's spot. It doesn't make losing Boldin any easier though.
I agree with Hensely 100%. And true, nobody is asking Suggs to take a pay cut, even though we don't know his condition going forward.
Nice try, but Flacco's contract has nothing to do with this, given that his cap hit is actually lower than Boldin's this year. This is more about the Ravens not wanting to pay an older receiver $8M.This guy has given his all for the Ravens. Very few on this board were able to understand the domino effect of the Flacco contract.....and we aren't even in year four yet... Boldin's biggest games are when the Ravens need him most hopefully something can be worked out to keep him in this uniform but if they have to part ways look no further than number 5's insistance that he be the highest paid quarterback in the league , yet states " it was never about the money."
I'd be happy to see Boldin sign a three year extension but a pay cut tells me he may not be in the plans after next season.
You cannot pay your QB top dollar and then take away his most reliable weapon. Stupid.
Unfortunately it's not a "so be it" situation...we have zero depth at MLB.Mind blowing.... boldin. If we can't afford Ellerbe then so be it. Its ashame but he's chasing the money it seems. I'd rather draft a mlb 1st rd and let whomever get game expirrence In 2014... ooh and I think Chris Gamble would look good in a ravens uniform. Just sayn
Torrey is not good enough to be a #1 and Jacoby, as Houston learned, is not good enough to be a #2. Keeping Boldin is paramount.
We need Boldin, imo.
The comments on that PFT article are so dumb by the way, people will find any reason to blame this on Flacco, as if his cap his is preventing the Ravens from signing anyone

I hate that there's no backup plan right now but that's why it's only March 11th.
