  1. I can't stand fans and media that say we were inches away from the playoffs.
As I remember it we were inches shy of beating Pittsburgh but far from the playoffs. We did completely get blown out by the Bengals the following week. So that's one lose and a few inches away from being tied with the Steelers. Wake up we aren't that close in fact we could be getting even worse next year you never know.

If we would have beat Pittsburgh, we would have beat the Bengals. To lose a game the way we did in Pittsburgh then have to play a game that means nothing is a hard thing to do.

  2. I would love to know why the crackdown on TD celebrations. I don't know a single person who doesn't enjoy seeing them. Stuff like TO dancing with the pom pom's is classic and so entertaining. What is wrong with that? Can't dunk over the goalpost any more?! Seriously, who sees that and gets appalled or offended?

I agree but the PC people thought it was too close to taunting and once someone bent the goal posts when they dunked on it.

  3. I'm not a Flacco hater, but I wonder if a good definition for an "Elite QB" is simply one who can make a receiver great. I don't think it's dumb luck that the list of unquestionably elite QBs has some pretty famous matchups.

Or maybe it's just the Ravens having bad luck & bad decisions with the receivers they draft.

To put it another way: What would Breshad Perriman be if he played for the Packers? Not claiming to have an answer to that, BTW.

Its not so much the receivers as it is the routes they are made to run and the whole basic scheme of the offense.

this year he had TWO big game receivers. SSS and Wallace not to mention under used Kamar. The receivers aren't his problem. The problem is #1 the system and schemes and routes #2. the offensive line, #3. SSS hit it on the head when he said Joe has had too many OC's. its like learning a new language every year. How can you be comfortable and play up to your potential with that?

Not even close. I would trade SSS AND Wallace for Antonio Brown. You cant and shouldn't put them in the same level. Brown is so good he demands double teams while our 2 top receivers do not. This creates mismatches and allows other receivers to get open. In our first game with pit we locked down brown and no one else was able to find separation. It worked once and then they made adjustments in the following games and guys stepped up. And Aiken was not used very often because he didn't perform when given then chance. He may have been a one year wonder and may not be back next season.

Also I would never compare Joe to Manning but Petyon changed teams and systems twice in 4 years and Set records, 2 SB appearances and a SB win in denver. So yeah it's Peyton manning but it shows the qb is more than just the system they are in.

if Antonio Brown had been in our system and SSS had been with the Steelers, SSS would have had a way better year. Our system just don't use the WR to their capabilities.

  5. If Flacco was as capable as Brady, Manning, Rodgers he could help define the offensive approach. After this many years, Flacco still can't read defenses effectively. With that said, for most of his career there hasn't been one big game receiver on this team, let alone a couple. The Steelers have quietly drafted and traded for big game receivers and a runner. They are the most dangerous team in the playoffs, IMO.

Welp, guess that means more of the same. Trash draft picks (bust, and loading up on positions were already deep at just to stick with the "best player available strategy"), one trick ponys at WR (Deep ball or bust), and injury prone starters at every position. I see why people bangwagon so much, being a fan of a losing team sucks, But aw well go ravens blah blah

I believe in this team and organization. Sorry if you all don't. I love my ravens and the fans... But after this past season reading some of the comments and hearing how angry and unfaithful the fans can be? I'm not sure how good our fan base is. Win OR Lose. I'm a ravens fan.

    I'm with ya, YorkCountyRaven.

  7. I feel like people are in a coma sometimes. It has been extremely obvious that our secondary has sucked for the past 3 or 4 years and worse when our top corner can only play about 9 games a year. Now, all of a sudden I'm reading articles about how we need to improve our secondary. We should have done that last year when we had the #6 pick in each round. It's going to be alot harder now that we're back at #15-20. Ozzie needs to stop drafting guards and tight ends in the top rounds and get us some playmakers at the skill positions!

We DID improve our secondary. Look at the number of interceptions we had this year compared to last. We've allowed way less "chunk" plays. We have better safetys than last year. We have better corners than last year. You cant fix it in one year. We have made big gains and if we make the same amount of improvement next year we will be awesome.

This Is an offensive league so I don't really blame the defense, at the end of the day the offense needs to score points and stay on the field to protect the defense. Why pay Flacco all that money if you want the defense to protect the offense? Tell Flacco to give half of that money he got and maybe they can build a defense. And I know people will start naming all these other QB's that got paid, well look at where there teams are, at home just like the Ravens and look at where they're ranked in QB ratings. Until that happens the Ravens will always be a 8-8 team or even worse. Only a hand full a QB's should get paid that amount of money because they can actually carry a team. Ravens shot themselves in the foot again when they extended Flacco's contract which set the team back again another 4 years. Ozzie has really been slipping lately.

I am sorry that you are unable to dictate the going rate for QBs in the league. There seems to be a misunderstanding of even basic Economic concepts here. And unfortunately, that is not surprising.

I am sorry you consider flacco an actual qb.......he's not worth wut he's getting paid........except on paper.....he looks sooooooo good on paper......totally agree wit steelraven here......but in reality its our below par head coach and Gutless front office which i am sure You think is jus peachy also........SMH

Are you sure youre a Ravens fan?

    Anyone but the Patriots!!!

How could you possibly hate on a legend like Brady smh. Years ago i used to not like the patriots a lot. Mainly because they were just TOO GOOD. But now, since Ray Lewis' retired, I have grown appreciation for Brady. Whether we like it or not, Brady is a legend, and we should be thankful to watch a legend like him play possibly his final season.

Final Season? Brady will play another 5 yrs

  10. he is average at best he got flacco hurried on numerous occasions he is no Ogden he is a consistent Oher and we all know how that turned out he is solid but I wish we would have gotten hargraves CB at 6 but I don't see stanley being a franchise LT hope we finally draft a good CB this year with 1st round pick

Its his Rookie season. Give the guy a break. And how can you say hes not an Ogden at this stage of his career when Ogden didn't even play LT till his 2nd year.

  11. Pitta needs to be cut this season because Flacco will be forced to pay attention to the whole field of Ravens and more importantly the defenders around them. With Pitta, Joe became complacent just assuming as long as he didn't peel his eyes from Pitta and threw him a dart, it would be a completion. It didn't quite work out well for Flacco who threw plenty of INTs while focused on Pitta and making it obvious to even the not smart defensive players where Flacco was going. Without Pitta, Flacco will improve because he'll learn to see the whole field before making gut wrenching and bone headed decisions in throwing INTs on the goal line with the game on the line! We'll also save some cap space and give Maxx Williams to develop into that TE who was drafted in the 2nd round.

Instead of cutting our best pass catcher, how about we teach Joe NOT to go to him or stare him down all the time.

Honestly, I'd like to see us draft DeShone Kizer. He may fall because he lacks experience (not even two full seasons as NDs starter). If he does, we should take him, groom him. I think he's going to be a great QB. He has all of the tangibles; but he has a very competitive spirit, and he's tough.

Depends on where he falls...I'd like to see us take a QB in the general area of the 4th round, or maybe the comp pick we get for KO...not saying we need to get rid of Joe, but grooming a backup QB has no negative that I can see. Mallet is not the answer, and will more than likely will be paid well over what he's worth by some other team.

i agree that some other team will offer more for mallett. we should draft a qb to possibly groom but wonder if we could live with lets say a ryan fitzpatrick if he is cheap enough.

yeah cuz Ryan Fitzpatrick has done so well in the playoffs. Joe has the ability to play and win if he has the right offense to run. Its that way with most great QBs. If Brady had been drafted by the Browns or Tampa bay, you would have never heard of him. We need to make the offense fit Joe since we are tied to him becuz of his contract.

  13. I will admit that I used to be a Castillo hater, especially in the year after the SB when we kept running #27 from the shotgun in the oh-so-predictable draw plays.

But if you're being honest, you have to admit that our offensive line has been pretty darn good, considering (a) all the injuries that have plagued them the last two seasons, and (b) the constant need to learn new blocking schemes with each new coordinator. The offensive line has to function as one body, with all five of them on the same page and being able to rely on each other. If a key piece is hurt (Wagner, Stanley, Yanda, Lewis - seriously, 4 out of 5 starters this year!) or if they have to learn a new scheme, their play will suffer!

Think about how great they played the last time we won a SB, where even McKinnie played well because the coaches benched him for several games to rest him up. Joe threw 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions, and nobody even got close to sacking him most of the time. It wasn't that Joe played better, it was the O line.

So I no longer blame Castillo, and don't think he should be fired.

I agree with you, merryjman. All of these people crying for certain people to be fired have never been to a practice or a meeting and yet claim to know more than the head coach. With just a couple more defensive stops we could have been in the playoffs. Getting a new assistant coach with new ideas will help. Keeping the same OC and OLC will keep some consistency, something our offensive line and offense really needs.
