Hater's gonna hate...send em' to the moon...
These forums exist so that fans can discuss their opinions. Silly to say that someone with an opinion different than yours is a "hater." No one here hates the Ravens. Those people post to the Pittsburgh Steelers forums.
ya could have fooled me.
My God please don't trade Aiken. He and Joe are great together. Why would anyone even consider trading him??
I agree. The only thing Aiken lacks is more passes his way.
“Does he see more failure from the coaching staff or the effects of an undermanned roster as the primary reason for Baltimore’s struggles?”
Unfortunately I believe Steve needs to realize it's both.
Front Office fault
At the last draft Harbs described sitting back and watching OZ and DeCosta work their magic. That's leads me to believe Harbs a very little say in who get picked.
FO has never supplies the Ravens with talent at Wr position. OZ method is to rely on short-term old vets.
The offensive line has been a mess and he failed to retain guys like Grubbs, KO, Jason Brown.
At the same time he over paid Webb, J Smith, and gives Wright a contract (smh) If either of them were worth the money, the secondary would not be in the shape it is now. Weddle represents OZ continue approach of stop gap solutions instead of drafting and retaining young talent.
The team after 6th overall pick and 11 picks in total still lack a consistent pass rusher, depth on the o-line, and play makers. That has nothing to do with Harbs.
Harbs fault
Harbs has failed as well. This team lacks discipline and toughness.
Every week he says the team needs to play smart , run the ball effectively, and be disciplined. Yet, every week we see the exact opposite. He explains what went wrong like its the players or coordinators fault.
Why can he tell Trestman or Marty to call more run plays?
He seems dependent on the coordinators instead of them following his lead.
Young players on John's watch never hit the field. Most don't seems to grow. Brown, Elam, Doss, and yes even Joe.
Joe still acts like he can't read a defense, call his own plays so he can stop blaming the OC, his fundamentals are not consistent.
So what does John bring to the team if he can oversee the development of his QB?
Steve needs to add a new perspective to the draft, scouting, and contracts. He also should start looking for a new head coach that can help develop players, revive the physical style of play that works in the AFC North, and adds expertise to the offense or defense.
you sound like you read the "Cleveland Browns Way To A Great Team" manual.
having a "tweaked" hamstring wouldn't prevent him from practicing catching punts. From what Ive seen, he looks indecisive and hesitant and not at all confident catching punts and kickoffs. Reminds me of the beginning of softball season and long ball practice for the outfielders.
When is the team meeting where the players get to tear apart the coaching staff?
That's like having a family meeting and letting the kids tear the parents apart or a class meeting and let the students tear the teacher apart. It just undermines the authority and does no good. Most of the players are very young and don't know what makes a good team. They need to know their role and do their jobs.
Why do we always have to "coach up guys" or "speed up their learning curve". Other teams get rookies who go out and produce day 1, other than Mosley, we haven't drafted a ready to go first rounder since...since I can't even remember when. We need a change with the player personnel staff. If Ozzie isn't to blame for all these bad draft picks, then certainly the scouting staff we have has to be. And if Harbaugh has input into player decisions, Bisciotti needs to relieve him of those since he clearly has failed at choosing players and coaching them. Maybe he better concentrate on coaching and leave the player personnel side to someone else. I don't know what the problem is with draft picks, trades and free agent signings. We can't seem to do well with any of them when other teams are doing great.
After having a losing record after winning the super bowl in 2012, Bisciotti is going to have to make some sort of change in the person that decides who is or isn't drafted, who is or isn't signed and who or who not to trade for. I say make that the domain of Ozzie and lets see who is at fault. If the problem is corrected when Ozzie is in control of it all, then we know the problem, Consequently, if we still have issues and Ozzie is in full control we know where the problem is. I don't know but we have to find out soon and get it fixed because it clearly is not fixing itself. We can't win when we have players that aren't as good as other teams.
Finally, its hard to be competitive when you are paying a 60 million dollar qb 120 million dollars. He isn't good enough to make up for 60 million dollars worth of players we would have if we paid him what he is worth, not what he earned by winning the 2012 super bowl. Sorry, its a what have you done for me lately league and Flacco has done nothing since the 2012 playoff run.Signing the woman beater to an absurd contract negatively impacted a lot of personnel decisions. Add to the fact that B. Pierce sucked it really set back the FO''s business plan to this day as evident by the product.
We should have kept Rice and hes no woman beater anymore than you are.
Had Perriman run a crisper route on the first, maybe Jets cornerback Buster Skrine wouldn’t have undercut it. Had he reached out to tip a pass that floated over his head, maybe Jets safety Marcus Gilchrist wouldn’t have picked it off.
Who knows? Maybe not. But those questions bothered Perriman.
Those questions should bother him because they aren't fair questions, both of those interceptions were just terrible throws by a QB who was gunshy all day.
Why would anyone even implicate Perriman in either interception? All Joe.
Don't give up on Perriman just yet. Essentially he is a rookie, still learning. He may come back to haunt us. The question is why can't Ozzie select a quality wide receiver. We have so many TE's on the roster and are not being used or properly used. When was the last time the Ravens used three wide receivers to spread the field. I say this again and again, coaching.
its not the WR's we select, its the stupid routes they are made to run and the lackadaisical way they run them. That's why SSS and Wallace are our best WRs. They knew how to run a route before they got here.
looks like the rats are jumping ship
The OL admittedly did not help much, but I also believe the outcome would have been very different if Joe is doing half what a $25million/yr is expected to do. If he cannot, it would have been better then to settle for any $10milion/yr QB or even a rookie QB and invest the difference in an OL that can make a difference in the run game. Having that said, I do not see the OL going anywhere this year with Zuttah at Center; it's like having 4-men OL with a huge hole in the middle.
So tired of hearing this Flacco contract argument. He's getting paid what the average successful QB is getting paid. Romo is making $18 million, Kap is making $19 million, Cousins is making $20 million, Tannehill is making $20 million, Carson Palmer is making $25 million.
Do you even know what a $10 million QB looks like?
Here's your options (not on rookie deal):
Ryan Fitzpatrick = $12 million
RG3 = $ 7.5 million
Chase Daniel = $7 million
Josh McCown = $ 4.6 million
Chad Henne = $ 4 million.
Do you know what a crap shoot drafting a QB is without having a Top 3 overall pick?Johnny Manziel, EJ Manual, Geno Smith, Paxton Lynch, Christian Hackenberg, etc. In the last 4 drafts, 42 QBs have been drafted after the Top 3 picks - exactly 3 have made any impact (Teddy Bridgewater, Derek Carr, Dak Prescott). 3 outta 42! That's a 7% success rate. 7%! Those are not good odds to waste a 1st, 2nd or 3 round pick on.All those guys you just listed - All playing better than Flacco. So yeah we could get someone a lot cheaper to Suck as Bad as Flacco has. At any rate we are more or less stuck with Flacco until 2018 and then we can dump him. Blame that on poor contracts, just like Eugene Monroe. Fact of the matter is Flacco has sucked since signing the big contract not once but twice. The Ravens screwed up big time on this one and it will hurt for a long long time. Who knows though we can always hope for the best.
No QB is any good without a good front line. Stanley was a great draft pickup. He was an ironman in college. He got hurt. it happens. Our 4th round pick is a very good guard but only an ave. tackle. When most of ur OL is hurt its hard to protect the QB.
52 minutes ago, The Greek said:since the front office has whiffed on many draft picks in recent years they should trade for proven players even if it costs them a 1st 2nd or 3rd. they need to fix that o-line and find another anquan boldin. trade deadline is nov 1st. hope we do something to improve this offense or secondary
yeah cuz Anquan Boldin has helped so many teams since he was with us. Hes gone, hes not that great, let's try to get past him.
In a fantasy world, I would love to see Torrey Smith back, Give them Perriman in exchange. BUT, that won't fix what is wrong with the Ravens. It starts at the top, where poor drafts over the last 6 or 7 years have depleted what was once a very talented team. Next, it is Harbaugh and his inept, incompetent coaches.. Bisciotte needs to clean house in order for the Ravens to rebuild. It won't happen as long as those currently in control remain there. Torrey Smith can't fix that.
I looked at our Draft choices from 1996 till 2016 and our drafts of late haven't been THAT bad. We picked a lot of years lately at the end of the first round or didn't even have a first round pick. It seems to me weve kept a lot more players from our drafts now (or they were given HUGE salaries from other teams) than in the first half of our existence.
They know they had problems with the secondary last year and didn't draft a corner until the 4th round. The Steelers drafted a corner & safety 1st and 2nd round and are picked to win the division.
The Steelers are one game ahead of us. Yeah, theyre tearing up the league.
"Killer instinct"? You have to know what you are doing before you can have a "killer instinct". Calling a time-out before a punt....and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Joe's shoulder.....stop the whinning and put another Q-B in there. Really they can hardly do any worse. Dumervil? The most over-paid do nothing player in football today. Ever since we got buffaloed with that signing it's been straight down hill. We can beat the Steelers but need players in there who want to play, hit hard, and have fun. Come on coaches, earn your pay, make the tough calls. Sunday was a low point in Raven history....although you could see it coming from a mile away. We draft horribily and have to live on unsigned free agents. How has that done for us? Yeah, I know.....God bless Justin Tucker. Go Ravens!
our drafts have been as good as anybody's so that's not even an issue.
You hear so much about what the Ravens players do for the community, maybe they ought to concentrate more on football. This like when a team wins the Super Bowl and the top players start getting all those endorsements. The team goes nowhere the next year.
"Play Like A Raven", what does that even mean anymore?
Guts, Attitude, Heart. Example Anquan Boldin. 32 receptions and 4 TD's btw.
please! get over Boldin already.
Dennis Pitta "We're not in a good place, We just lost four straight" hmmm, do you think losing 3 straight is a good place to be?
Dennis Pitta "We'll have a good hard look at ourselves this week," ok, who else do you expect us to look at? Already fired Trestman 2 weeks ago and nothing changed, in fact it actually got worse.
Mike Wallace "We need that leadership," Mike you are a veteran receiver, STEP UP and become a leader in that receiving squad!!!
Lardarius Webb "There's no finger pointing" Well maybe inside the locker room there should, start pointing fingers and holding your teammates accountable!! I don't care for it to be publicized but inside that locker room you guys need to get in somebody's **** for these stupid mistakes that are plaguing this team. Then do me a favor and look at yourself in the mirror cause you are a weak link in the safety position.
Harbaugh has rid this team of on the field leaders to show everyone this is his team. The Ravens have an overall losing record since #52 and #20 retired. This ship needs to be righted immediately or we can expect to start experiencing a Browns-like season for the next couple of years...
How did Harbaugh "rid" the team of its leaders? Did he make Lewis and Reed retire? Did he Hurts Suggs arm or SSS's ankle? Just about every one we draft was a captain of their team or a leader on their team in college. We have MANY leaders on our team.
We need to pursue WR in free agency hard for some reliable possession WRs that get open. Chris Moore and Perriman have not been reliable whatsoever thus far, limited experience aside.
its not our receivers. Its the routes they run, and how they are taught to run them. We have two of the fastest players in the NFL and they cant get separation? ANYONE can get separation if they have a decent routes and run them right.
Plus Joe couldn't hit his behind with both hands right now.
Yes the Ravens are playing awful football right now, but so are the Panthers, Saints, Cardinals & Jags (despite having drafted franchise saviors Jalen Ramsey AND Myles Jack...lol). But we are still in this.
You can cry, whine and pine to fire everyone and take your ball and go home because things aren't going your way. But we are going to stay and fight til the end and support our team all the way. We are 1 game back from the division lead - 1 GAME! I don't care who's on the schedule or how good you think they are, anything can happen.
A team a few hours north in Ohio likes to fire everyone, make changes at QB, draft "Alpha Dogs", etc - maybe they are more your style (I hear housing is cheap and so are tickets).
Me? I'm gonna Ride or Die! Ride or Die! Go Ravens!
I like your style. Im with ya till the end. let the cry babies go to Cleveland
i hate to be the barer of bad news but this team stinks. flacco was never or will be a top notch qb. hes terrible out of the pocket, always was, cant hit open receivers, to scared, they wont pay for better linemen, penny wise dollar foolish, bring back the qb josh Johnson very accurate, mobile, quick release accurate of of the pocket, with speed. use that 120 million elsewhere. remember Dilfer, average qb, quick release save the money rebuild.
Josh Johnson? What a Bozo statement.
not even Bozo would make THAT statement.
It really matters not whether the Ravens win or lose against the Jets. They have already lost any chance with their lackluster performances against the last three teams, all of which are bad. After the break, the Ravens will be lucky to be competitive against much tougher opponents. They may have lucked out with Baby Ben out, but unlike the Ravens, the Steelers are a team that doesn't make excuses for injuries. They go out and kick peoples behinds. As long as Harbaugh is coach and Newsome is picking mediocre talent with high draft picks, the Ravens are doomed to be where they are.
Yeah, you might as well give up watching them play dude...at least then we wouldn't have to hear all those doom and gloom projection's you've been spouting every day.
These Raven's are so horrible that they should just move the team to Vegas, cause they will never be a good team again, never mind they've won two super bowls, that's all in the past and were probably some kind of mysterious flukes anyways...
And yeah, might as well try to lose games. That will teach Ozzie and Harbs...unlike those Squeelers, who like you say, never ever complain about anything and are the shining beacons of how a real football team plays! Wow, some people might confuse you with being a fan of theirs, lucky we know better,eh?Don't let fastynart bait you, I'm fairly certain he's a Pitt fan that joined just to troll.
With a name like fastynart, I'm thinking Browns fan.
it would be really nice if "Quick Hits" was big enough to read without a magnifying glass.
Does anyone know what this secretive procedure that was done. Also what kept Stanley out ? and what's up with Yanda.
I heard Stanley has a toe issue (don't quote me on that) and Dumervil has a tendon issue near his ankle. Again Its just a rumor I heard.
Not much chance this year of making the play-offs this year with all the injuries, but it will be a big help going forward to see what we have in these three. It seems that both Suggs and Doom are near the end of their fine careers and next year's draft will need to reflect this void.
we are one game out of 1st place with 10 more games to go. Glad the players don't give up as fast as you do
if we can limit the drive killing penalties on offense and the drive sustaining penalties on defense we should be OK. A few take-a-ways for us would sweeten the game.
