  1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ROFLOL! Are you serious?! We just lost to a team that some project to be dead last in 2015. WOW!!!

Good news though, we'll get an early draft pick in 2016, hopefully we'll draft a WR who can last longer than half a practice. I'd say let's draft defense, but we pretty much lack players at all positions on defense so no one knows where to start on there.

But in all seriousness, Ravens can't consider themselves even a playoff contenders with these kind of performances. damN BROWNS ARE AHEAD OF US IN DIVISION. This is pathetic.

  2. After the first game, injuries to Perriman and Monroe are not even my biggest concerns. It's the offensive play calling.

I swear the play call was as if Cam Cameron was back on the sidelines. Remember this game plan from couple of years ago: run on 1st down for minimal gain, shotgun short passes on 2nd and 3rd? Pretty much praying for a miracle to get a 1st down, just so we could do another run up the middle.

If this kind of crap continues, it won't matter if we had Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones for receivers, we still wouldn't be a potent offense.

Just for context to my opinion, from ESPN: "Since entering the NFL in 2008, Flacco leads all quarterbacks with 493 attempts over 20 yards in the air. Last Sunday, he threw one pass over 20 yards and it was a 22-yard completion to Marlon Brown.

"It’s tough to maintain 15-play drives consistently and score points," Flacco said."

  3. Suggs had the leadership and desire to propel himself against any offensive player.  Saying the situation may not be bad should be a cautious one at least until this road trip is over. I agree with you that if any more D players go down then we would have a massive problem. However, we all should stay positive as 15 more games are on the horizon.

That's what was my point. I've seen comments with the mindset that this season is now lost, because our D is worthless without Suggs and we might as well tank the season. After ONE GAME! The over dramatic fans in this place sometimes make me laugh.

Sure, Suggs might have had another season of the ages, at the same time, we might find a true superstar gem in the dirt because of his injury, a star for the future.

It sucks to lose Suggs, but I for one am not losing hope. We'll live and see, how this turn out.

  4. Other than Trestman looking like Cam Cameron 2.0 with his play calling, losing Suggs was the worst part about the first game. That being said, I actually think that losing his leadership, player depth, and game changing factor that opposing offenses must game plan against hurts us more than his actual every-down playing ability.

What I mean by that is he was out of shape this off-season and he probably hadn't shaken off all this rust yet + he's in the latter years of his career and said it himself that he's not Suggs the DPOY anymore. So his injury might actually be a blessing in disguise for this defense going forward.

Sure, the opposing O-lines will now focus solely on Dumervil, so he can probably forget about setting the sack record. But that will give younger guys like Smith, Upshaw and maybe someone else, maybe a FA pickup, a lot more opportunities to make their mark and get valuable reps.

Remember when Lewis got injured on his last season? He looked old and slow against the run that season, and could not cover most TE-s anymore. Then he went down and seemingly out of nowhere came this depth player called Ellerbe who proved to be an upgrade over Lewis at MLB, at least from every-down standpoint.

Of course this doesn't mean we'll have the same success at pass rush like we did last year and we will definitely miss Suggs and his leadership a great deal, just that it might not be as bad as it seems at first glance. However, rest of the D-line must find a way to stay healthy. Especially Jernigan.

  5. Having had time to sit on the result for a couple of days, then all things considered it wasn't a catastrophe of a game, unlike the last time we opened in Denver.

Yes, Flacco was mediocre, but the Broncos defense was playing lights out. Yes, Flacco's pick 6 was huge mistake, but in mye eyes he made up for it with the last drive where we should've won if anyone else on this offense other than Flacco would've contributed. Yes, SSS had a fart of a drop, but the defender blocked the view for Smith so 9/10 top receivers would not have made that catch. Yes, O-line struggled, but if we go after Kubiak with his own scheme, that's what's going to happen.

However, my biggest disappointment was from the coaching side. Harbaugh's inability to make any kind of adjustments for second half. And most of all, the debut of Trestman. It looked like Cam Cameron 2.0 out there. 1st down-run for minimum gain. 2nd and 3rd down short shotgun passes. I know we didn't have Perimann as the deep threat and Denver defense was supreme, but our play calling was exactly as unimaginative and vanilla as the one Cameron used to run.

It brought me back so many terrible memories of the days gone by, where even my half blind grandmother with dementia knew exactly what our next offensive play was going to be. I seriously hope this was nothing but a fluke for Trestman because with this kind of play calling we'll lose to every opponent with above average defense, no matter what players we have available.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Mark Trestman, don't descend us 5 years back in time! It was heartbreaking to watch so much talent go to waste because O-coordinator didn't have the guts to go after defenses. And I think no Ravens fan wants to go through that kind of disappointment again every Sunday.

  6. One thing I noticed is we played better when Joe was in the shotgun than under center. I'm surprised we just didn't continue that when we needed to score. Every time Joe was under center the defense either pressured the Hell out of him or the run was stuffed.

Regards to that and our new O-coach, that's the thing that worries me with Trestman. Watching him last year, he did not adjust his game plan during the game like Kubiak does. It seems he has his schemes worked out, but when they don't work, he does not make observations and changes to his original plan. Another O-coach who did not change his game plan was Cam Cameron. Just saying.

  7. Can you guys just quit about the wasted #1 pick just yet, please! Perriman hasn't played yet, there is nothing to indicate he'll miss a large chunk of the season and getting injured once hasn't made anyone a failure yet. If he gets on the field and is useless, then you can start with doom and gloom, but we haven't played a game yet this season, so just quit it!

I agree that the bust talk is waaay over dramatic. Yet I understand that his slow healing process is frustrating. But my main question is, why isn't he on the field observing and learning like the rest of the injured players? Is it coaches decision or his? Does he have something better to do?? Cause that injury doesn't require rehabbing so he's not working with physiotherapists, that's for sure.

  8. What sickens me is how Brady is celebrated for having the judge over turn the suspension. Lost in the shuffle is the fact that once again the Pats cheated and got off without proper punishment. No suspension at all is ridiculous. Tuck Rule, Spy gate, deflategate, the 4th down incident with Cundiff, etc. Patriots motto "If you ain't cheating you not trying"

I completely agree with you, man!

Add to that yet another questionable play they made last night on defense at the 12th minute of the 4th quarter or so, when Steelers were in a goal line situation. Somebody from the D-line yelled out something similar to the snap count and then all the right side of the defensive line moved positions simulating a snap, which fooled the offensive line to false start. I know the O-line should not flinch in those situations but in the same way it illegal for the defense to simulate snap count. And they got away with it. Again. Just like they did with the illegal formation against us.

They literally are still in the midst of a scandal and they start pulling of some cheat plays...It's ridiculous! And as long as they keep getting away with it, they will keep doing these kinds of things. And even more arrogantly.

New England Cheat-a-Lots are, without hesitation, the most hated team for me. By a long shot. I literally get sick to my stomach every time I see or hear anything from that disgusting, foul excuse for a team.

  9. My grandparents are from Estonia.. Live here in Maryland now. Baltimore has actually a good bit of Estonians!

Really? That's interesting. What's their last name? Estonia is heck a small so there's some chance I might now some of their relatives. I myself have relatives in the States as well, on the west coast however.

I actually did some research, like 10 years ago, about Estonians migration to the States during the WWII and found out about Baltimore being one of the main first destinations. Since I also started watching football at the same time, I automatically started following the Ravens. Have bee my team ever since.

  10. Thanks for the great read!

That really hyped me up for the upcoming season. At the same time, this kind of hype and our ability to live up to it is my biggest concern. This kind of talk about how we are Supe Bowl contenders is probably the main reason I've been vastly disappointed about our pre-season. I KNOW, the games don't count and performances don't matter, but I still hate to see the Ravens losing, and losing so concisely.

Still, in general I agree with King, we have most of the tools to get to the Super Bowl. Our Achilles' heel is still the secondary. IF Smith can stay healthy and eliminate opponents' 1st WR threat for most part and IF someone else at CB position appears capable to at least control 2nd WR to some extent, I believe we'll survive and have hell of a shot at the SB. On the other hand, if Smith goes down (knock on the wood) or rest of the DB group plays below par again, good QB-s will pick this secondary brutally apart, if not during the season then in the playoffs where it matters the most. Just like Brady did.

In conclusion, I believe in our team, yet I try not to get caught up in all the hype just yet. It doesn't help that our 1st game is one of the toughest of our whole season. But I know, that if we'll lose to Denver, I'll be so bummed. Damn how exiting, can't wait.

    GO RAVENS!

  11. I can't remember when I last saw Ravens with so bad backup players. In addition, most of our starting DB-s are still playing like 2nd or 3rd stringers. On paper, this team looks like a monster. On the field, unfortunately, it has been anything but. Add all the injuries we have and we will have during the season, and I'm not confident at all in our ability to live up to the hype of being a SB contender.

  12. I want to see one more person talk about how refs are helping Ravens. This game, like the last one against Eagles, has been anything but that. Ravens are not calling obvious fouls against Skins, which could potentially disqualify players (like the one above), they are calling phantom fouls against us erasing 1st downs and calling bovine skat fouls which give Skins 1st downs. Ofcourse, noone other than Flacco and SSS played up to par as well, so... This is bullcrap!

  13. If Perriman's long recovery of a pretty irrelevant collision is due to Osgood-Schlatter’s disease, then I'm afraid we blew it with this pick. In the NFL where WR-s and DB-s knees collide in every game, some knees are bound to be bruised. If it'll take Perriman 1-2 months to heal every time, it was a waste of a 1st rounder.

But we'll have to live and see. I hope all the best for the pal.

  14. When they cut him next year I believe management will secure decent players for way less money under short term contracts. The secondary gets decimated every year and the more bodies theory is their decisive course.   I like him and he made a steelar play in the last home game (Browns) last season but that was against a rookie QB named Shaw. Its seems he and Jimmie are on a injury carosel and the secondary has very little healthy player luck.

Don't jinx us with that Jimmy talk, man! He's been quite fragile as well, luckily seems healthy thus far. Hope he can avoid any serious long term injuries and he should be alright.

Webb on the other hand is like a porcelain vase - falls down once and more often than not will be broken for awhile.

  15. Webb is not worth half the money he's making with all the injuries. I know Ravens couldn't cut him this off-season because they would not have saved anything with that dead money, but if I've understood correctly, Ravens should be able to save quite a bit next year if they cut him. If he can't stay healthy for at least 3/4 of the season + playoffs, I'd like to see him go. We can't waste 9 mil on a dude who's injured for the bigger part of the season.
