"[Offensive Coordinator] Marc [Trestman] has his ideas." Yeah? What are they? To pass the ball 4 times with garbage bins for pass blockers in a situation, where you need 7-8 yards for a field goal with RB averaging 5 yards per carry and who has constantly been steamrolling the defense in the second half, with over a minute to go and a time out left??
Harbaugh has always said that we will run the ball until the defense can stop it. Well, the defense couldn't stop the run. Why the hell did Trestman start passing the ball with the game on the line, still enough time left to get 10 yards with 3 downs and let Tucker do what he does best?
I've been critical of Harbs and Flacco in years, but that L was all Trestman. I hope he got some words from Harbaugh, that his b s won't be tolerated anymore.
113 yards on 21 attempts.... West averaged just under 5.4 yards per attempt, but they passed the ball 3 times in a row when they needed to pick up 10 yards for a field goal. This is despite having 1 timeout still in hand- correct? If they had run the ball once in that series and picked up 5 yards, they'd have more options on third down and even if they didn't pick up any more yards, they'd have the option of a 62-63 (instead of 68) yard kick and that is not out of the realm of possibility for Tucker. Trestman had better be on a short leash after this B.S.
I agree with you 100%.
Despite the garbage bins we have playing on our O-line, and despite our pass rush department who decided to take a collective day off, it was Trestman and his incompetence that cost us the game.
He probably got an earful from Harbs at halftime, or just found the pages in his playbook with running plays on them and it was actually nice to see us actually running the ball. Only to go 4 straight passes yet again in a situation where we needed max 10 yards with running game that was rolling.
This has to be the last warning for Trestman. We saw that we are able to run the ball if we just stick to it. If his b s costs us one more game he needs to go.
Completely unacceptable for an official proffesional sports team site to be giving the following error in a game thread post for an entire night:

Anyone who is gonna say that Flacco is elite should get a quick bullet to the head. The only good thing from the Raiders game is that we can put that endless debate to bed.
Obviously we are doing everything we can to lose that one. damn dope Aiken.

We will once we have a competent OC. Cause Trestman is everything but.

Totally agree with you! That's what I've been saying since the second game. He was garbage calling games already last year, but I gave him the benefit of doubt because of all the injuries. This season he's proved that he is just incompetent OC. He has no clue how to call running plays. There's a reason why the guy has had 13 gigs in past 15 years. And we are seeing that reason each and every game.
Trestman and his henchmen on the left side of the O-line are killing us and Flacco. It's literally sickening to watch Trestman's play calling.
Can we fire Trestman now?
The only trend we must change to be a serious contender is start running the ball effectively. That starts first and foremost with the OC, who must be consistent and creative with the run game plan. Trestman has been neither so far.
Therefore, until Trestman changes his ways of incompetent run game, we will be extremely lucky to finish 9-7 with him at OC.
The only thing holding back our offensive breakthrough is Marc Trestman and his incompetence to game plan and call a running game. His incompetence is even more highlighted considering he had the working blueprints left by Kubiak and his system. So seeing how Trestman struggles with run game is impressive in a bad way. And until he's at the offensive helm, our offense will remain below average for most games.
Also what bothers me about Trestman is that he always talked about how he is going to keep Kubiak's system that obviously suited Flacco very well. Overly simplified, Kubiaks system was I-form/lead blocker run game + play action passing game. I think I've seen the I-form less than 10 times this season.
Fact of the matter is, Trestman has flat out abandoned Kubiak's system that worked wonders and installed his own abomination that rarely runs the balls, run calls are unimaginative and predictable and play action passes are forced in without any running game whatsoever.
I'm seriously afraid of the tail end of our season because, that joke of a game plan will get us shut out once we're facing defenses who have a clue of what they're doing.
So sick and tired of watching another offense with pro bowl caliber players getting washed up because of a shh OC.
"SOMETHING Wrong With Ravens Run Game"?! Are you freaking kidding me?! It's a very specific someone that is behind the faults and his name is Mark Trestman.
Our run game will NEVER be consistently effective until Trestman is calling our offense. The speed at which he abandons run game is astonishing and the predictability of his run calls, as rarely as they do come, is pathetic.
I'm sure we'll have one or two games where the run game works and I'm sure the media will immediately start praising the return of the run game. But the fact of the matter is that once we start facing some real defenses who shut down our passing game and pressure the QB, we'll be lucky to score 3 points if Trestman is calling plays.
Biggest concern after 3 weeks is the absolute nonexistence of anything that would even remotely resemble a running game. Stat line are misleading at times, non of our backs is averaging 3+ yards for most of 3 quarters. They start gaining some yards only in the last minutes, when opposing defenses are beat up.
And I'm still putting it on Trestman. The speed at which he abandons the run game is astonishing. After the first, unsuccessful running play he went passes for like 5-6 next plays. Then again 1 run play and 7-8 passes. No wonder the O-line can't get any rhythm like that. And when he does call a running play it's so painfully obvious, because basically the only time a RB lines up behind Flacco, it's a run.
Where is the I-form? Or even a lead blocker? Where is Juice? Flacco is not the type of QB who can shoulder an entire game all game long every game. But we've seen with Kubiak what he can be, if he has a strong running game. So it begs the question, is Trestman ignorant, purposefully trying to sabotage the running game, or just plain dumb??
At any rate, we'll start losing big soon against better teams, if Trestman doesn't get his head out of his butt with is idiotic playbook. Dixon isn't going to magically fix anything if the game plan remains the same.
damn it Sarah Ellison! We can get 2 weeks and you're already tweeting "Ravens finally healthy" crap. Seriously, what the freak is wrong with you?! I'm still holding my breath anyone of our guys takes a bigger hit. Was hoping to avoid all that healthy talk for at least until October. smh
I'm not confident in Trestman as OC AT ALL. There was all this talk how he would continue with Kubiak's system that worked so well. But little by little he's just demolishing it. It looks as if slowly, but steadily we are turning into the Bears of his tenure.
Running game obviously struggles for second consecutive year now. Last game Trestman couldn't figure out how to get the passing game rolling either, until Flacco had to go to him and point it out. That's not much of a confidence booster in your OC.
It's still early in the season so he has time, but Trestman must improve. We can't afford to waste another year of Flacco's career to a clueless OC. Flacco would be TOP 3 QB in the NFL if he had a decent OC.
I just hope Perriman won't pull a "campanaro" on us. Sky is the limit, but just can't stay healthy.
Had we played against McGown prior to last year? I wouldn't use anything from last year to predict an outcome.
Yeah we did after our Super Bowl season, back in 2013 when McCown was with the Bears. The Bears won that one 23-20 and McCown threw for 216 yards and one touchdown as a quick search indicated. So we are 1-2 against McCown all-time.
Was anyone else impressed by Wright? He was absolute beast!
Does anyone know if our practice squad is full? I mean, if Ochi is still available why not sign him? Or is he looking for a place with better chances of making the team?
Obviously the team hasn't revealed many details about the injury, but if it's a spiral fracture, which by the sound of it might be the case (considering how it happened and how they thought it was just a strain), then it might take a lot more time to recover than we'd like. Talking about months here.
I had spiral fracture from playing football once and it took close to 5 months to recover fully. Some cases might even need surgery. Ofcourse Pitta has world class medical staff at his disposal. But if that's the case just don't be surprised if we don't see Pitta at the beginning of the season.

Amen to that!
Oh man, dumb how easy it was. Don't know how I couldn't fint it.
Much appreciated, thanks!
Sorry, but I still can't see how Buck Allen was balling it out. He had one great play out of seven.
I'm sure he'll do much better in next games and in regular season, but to start off by saying "After watching not one, not two, but three young running backs ball out..." is just ludicrous.
If Allen's first performance is considered balling then I have some bad news, friend.
No dissing, all I'm trying to say is let the kid really perform in one of his next games with some crunching runs and similar catches, then you'll have real reason to say how he "ball out".

Really mind-boggling about not getting the 10 yards is the fact that we threw the ball 4 times, despite West averaging 5 yards per run and still plenty of time left on the clock.
Trestman's playcalling was OK early in the second half, yet he went with another one of his brain farts when the game was on the line. Wee would be better of with random generator picking our offensive plays than Trestman.
