  1. Some of you guys on this whole Arthur Brown is a victim and we build and drop players for one year is not true!!! You discredit a lot of people with that statement. Mainly the Raven coaches whose jobs consist of helping to develop players. Arthur Brown's situation took a bad turn because. Darryl Smith was brought over due to him being underrated and his years of experience to help younger players. The Ravens organization do a good job of keeping a mixture and not leaning towards a super young team and really old team (You will see a leader at every position this year except D-Line Haloti Ngata used to be). C. J.Mosley came about because the Ravens select the best player on the board instead of fulfilling a need (Bud Dupree is the Ravens first round pick this year if the Steelers don't draft him, and this whole article is irrelevant). The Ravens are similar to the Los Angeles Lakers when Phil Jackson was coach. They have so many quality backups that have the potential to start. If injury occur there is someone to replace almost everyone with the exception of Perriman, Juice, and Flacco (Seriously if you got a player I know his replacement already). We only keep truly exceptional players. Being able to start does not mean you will kept by the Ravens. If your not the next T-Sizzle, Dumervil, Yanda, Mosley, Forsett, Flacco,etc... (people who have extremely great quality or value). Go play for another team in the NFC where you can't contribute. Ngata is abad and good example. He was traded because of all the dead money with Ray Rice, but he will not be around a great supporting cast just like Suh was.
  2. Asa played the no. 2 spot as well after Ladarius went down. He played pretty well before getting hurt. Before you say his potential is not as high check out Asa Jackson's highlight reel from college. I know a lot of people don't like to check that far back but when you draft a player just like Breshad Permian and Maxx William thats what you expect your player to contribute in comparison to what they did in college if not better. Secondary players take more time to develop. Which in any case Asa has never played a full season. Rashard played on the team late which I can't say he is more reliable because he also hasn't played a full season yet. We'll just have to wait and see but I will bet due to the number of injuries last year. Both will be kept. Probably 6 cb's (Tray Walker) because Baltimore does not likes to keep all their draft picks.
  3. I disagree with your whole idea with the potential. Asa Jackson was the no. 3 cornerback last year. He has more experience so your idea of putting Melvin in over him sounds crazy. It's too early to declare him higher. Unless, he shows me some interceptions in preseason or something. I think Asa is in better position due to playing time.
  4. Fitzgerald Toussant would be good as both but that means you have 4 running backs plus a fullback. I would love to see him play snaps as well but I don't see it happening. Asa Jackson is extremely valuable considering if Smith or Webb get hurt. He has to be the no. 2 corner to allow Kyle Arrington to be your no. 3 shutdown cb or let Vaughn play no. 2. I think Carter seems ideal because the opening being made by the number of receivers being hurt if Campanaro does not come back in time to claim the job.
  5. I think Matt Elam is going have a great year for a lot of reasons. He voiced when he played free safety that he would rather play strong safety. When he was moved to cornerback due to injury at the position he played horribly mainly because that is not an easy transition from safety to cornerback. Cornerback to safety is easier but not the other way around. The Ravens had him out of position his first two years which can ruin a players confidence even if you do move him back to his position. I think Matt Elam is going to be better after his first big hit or interception this year to restore his confidence. Practice is great and it may restore some confidence but he may not be fully confident until season and you pick off an opposing qb.
  6. I think the biggest overlooked position more than safety is wide receiver. The Ravens season is in jeopardy if Breshad Perriman gets hurt. They have no other deep threat receivers with speed. This will limit who is on the field. Quick question can anyone tell me why Michael Campanero is not our No. 3 receiver. I know some would say he has not proven himself, but I believe the Ravens drafted him to be a slot Wes Welker receiver just saying. if he does not play in the slot, kick or punt return. Why do we have him on the team. I think it would be great to rotate Marlon Brown Darren Waller and Steve Smith Sr.
  7. I would say work with what you got if your the Ravens. I have full confidence that Asa Jackson and Rashard Melvin will step up and be future stars in the NFL. Fans love a player until you see someone you think is better become available. The real question in the secondary this year is can Ladarius Webb fully recover from both ACL tears. The answer through performance based on last year has been "No." Matt Elam I believe was dealt a bad hand since he played in Baltimore in my opinion. He was supposed to play SS and played FS and CB his first two years. In his defense I would love to see him get some consistency at his own position. Also, like any other secondary player in the league. It takes time to develop at a minimum three years. Thats the difference between an offensive draft pick and a defensive draft pick. You can expect an immediate impact from most of the players we got on offense this year. Defense however, it is extremely rare for a player to have an immediate impact unless his team just sucks. Ladarius Webb took a few years to get as good as he is today. I remember when he used to get toasted and his recovery speed saved him from giving up touchdowns. Thats only thing that kept Ladarius Webb from being Chykie Brown. Jimmy Smith in my opinion was garbage until that pass he stopped for the Ravens to win the Superbowl. The next year he played outstanding and became a shutdown CB. If you replace those guys with Kyle Arrington they never become stars. Point blank you have to allow players on defense time to develop.
  8. RB is not as big of a need as people think. Ray Rice will be gone but not forever...Fans treat it like he is never coming back. I'm more so interested in how Kubiak and Flacco will work together because Kubiak's scheme revolves around the RB. Ray Rice battled injury and had an inconsistent O-Line. He is still one of the leagues best, but Joe Flacco and Ray Rice will suffer if this O-Line problem does not get fixed first and foremost. Screw the WR, RB, draft picks. If you don't have time in the pocket or no holes to run through. Good QB's and RB's are useless... Draft an O-lineman.
  9. One thing I hate is when fan post these rationalities that the from office (Ozzie and company) can not make a mistake. If you played football, understand football, and watch football you can spot great players sometimes better than your front office. The best players don't always play and they don't always get drafted even when you would like them to be on your team. They must see something special in Rick Wagner not to draft another OT, or maybe the Ravens are doing what everyone knows the Ravens do in the draft. Which is draft the best player available... If anything draft a high OT for two reasons. 1. Your current one you have you drafted in the 4th or 5th round. 2. You need depth at this position CLEARLY (I didn't break the caps rules used it sparingly)! You got Ravens fans who believe that we made a good decision to put Bobby Rainey on practice squad for all those years, and that Bernard Pierce is a better player than he is... Give me a break! All I'm saying is they make mistakes no different from you playing your franchise on Madden. lol. You can scout but it does not mean you will get a high quality player. That is all...
  10. For all those Ravens fans who thinks the front office does whats best. Not Even Close!!! This was a horrible draft by The Baltimore Ravens... That C J Mosley pick was horrible because as a team you have to make up your mind to bring in someone new, or to work with what you have and the Baltimore Ravens are not doing it! Arthur Brown second year guy. Projected to be a starter last year, should be ready to play. If not you got Josh Bynes who is very good in my opinion... If we could not get Darryl Smith back then draft Mosley but this is a waste at a position with depth. A position that needed depth was CB because I'm not sold on Chykie Brown and Asa Jackson (great potential) has not played enough for me to believe he is ready to be a starter (Plus off the field issues). Overall bad pick for first round. Baltimore had an opportunity to solidify their O-Line which has had multiple problems... You typically don't get good lineman late in the draft. I'm sure everyone knows that. Wide Receiver would have been nice 1st round as well considering they are instant impact players in this pass happy league. I'm tired of past their prime players being picked up no matter how good they are at the moment. I'm ready to have the young Wide Receiver that will make the big play and will be here for years to come. Second pick means that the Ravens are going to have to adjust their D-line like their O-line. Also wasn't a good pick Haloti Ngata, Brandon Williams, enough said on that... Third round at Safety wasn't a bad pick. I think he is better than Jeromy Miles because I have no faith in that guy. Jeromy Miles has no track record or endorsements like some other Ravens safeties I know (Omar Brown). It will be a good competition between him and Omar Brown (Prediction one of those will be our starter). Everyone else will take up special teams. He can be converted into CB if Omar beats him in competition (hopefully). That is the only pick I like out the whole draft. The Tight-end pick in the fourth is up in the air. He can develop in practice.
