As for the Ravens, I believe we are easily in the upper echelon of football teams in the NFL and have been for several years now notwithstanding the 2015 debacle due to various injuries.

2015 the record said we sucked but no one wanted to face us, we really only lost the Seattle game (and that was with ½ of our starters our on IR). I still consider us in the upper echelon for the past decade even that year.

  2. The Patriots, Packers, Seahawks, Squeelers, and Broncos have all had injuries- but they have a solid roster (we don't), and yet they also make the playoffs almost every year. We used to be mentioned in the same breath but no longer. 5 consecutive bad drafts, poor FO decisions on FA signings, letting core members leave, and having all this dead money leads us to where we are today- if we had a good base of young players (we didn't have this), then we'd still be competitive. We barely made it to the playoffs last year, and I don't see us making it until 2017 at the earliest. This team has got way too many holes- way too many where one draft will not fix all our issues. At least Ozzie can usually make a good pick when he drafts in the top ten- outside of the top ten, our recent drafts have been terrible (elam, perriman who?). I would love to see an article from baltimoreravens.com comparing our last five drafts to other teams to see who we have starting/ playing versus who was cut for rounds 1-4, etc.. I bet we'd be near the bottom quartile for sure.. We have no nucleus of solid, young players.

We lost all of our games except last week by only 1 score and most of those games were determined by ONE call by the refs. Even with our team being decimated by injuries we could easily be 13-1 as crazy as that sounds. Do I think that we should be considered a "13-1 team" and playoff contention even if we got those calls? Heck no, but we weren't getting blown out every week either.

  3. I hate how we could've been 6-6 if it weren't for these godawful refs.

6-6?? Honestly we could be undefeated even with our current roster situation. We have been in every game and at most lost by 8 points. That's like 1 call different per game.

Heck, I can think of 4 calls of the top of my head that we would have won (week 1, calling PI on the game ending interception against us, week 2: don't call the PI on the interception that we got near the end of the game, The call a couple of weeks ago that happened as time expired and the NFL came back later and said that we should have won and this week's phantom PI call against Brown).

  4. I do not agree with John on this one. If you don't care about the officiating it will never get any better it will only get worse if that is possible. I feel like the Ravens have been targeted by officials. I wish CBS would show all the penalties that are called their broadcast. The other thing I think is being overlooked is I think they spotted the ball incorrectly on the last play I think they gave them 5 extra yards.

I was thinking that they got extra yardage too. If it was 15 yard penalty from the Browns 45 (opposite side of the 50). Then the ball was placed on the Ravens 40. So it would have made it a 57 yard field goal and not a 53 yard attempt. I understand it is the end of the game but the Ref's need to work for 60 minutes a game too.

  5. The refs also cost us the game against Oakland, and probably against Arizona as well. We should be 5-4, or 4-5 at worst. If the games were called accurately this year, the Ravens would be a playoff team, or at least have a pretty good chance at getting in. Sometimes you have to overcome an unfair disadvantage and win anyway, and this year's team has obviously not been able to get that done.

How about 1st game of the season on the final when the ball was thrown into the endzone and no PI was called and the ball was intercepted. Then the Oakland game when pretty much the same play where we picked off the ball and they called PI on us and negated it.

We have lost all of our games by such a small margin that we would be undefeated right now even with as bad as we are playing if 1 or 2 calls were called more consistently.

  6. The hit that Hill put on the Jags receiver was a no-brainer penalty in this league. However, how in the world is the hit on Aiken not a blow to the head of a defenseless receiver? Is there a rule I don't know about where a receiver is not defenseless if they bobble a ball they should have caught? Give us 15 yards instead of an INT ... that's game changing. But refs never let us get away with it, but periodically seem to just not be watching when it happens to us. It seems based on reputation. Once you get marked as an undisciplined team, the refs put your team under a microscope.

I was thinking that the whole time! Why wasn't the hit to the head of a defenseless receiver not called? I am not saying we didn't play horrible but that was a game changing call that was obviously missed.

  7. I'm sorry but it kinda looked like John Urschel was brushing dirt off of his jersey. Just running to the huddle and flapping his hands. If I was a ref, I wouldn't have paid him any mind, either. He needs to get up in the refs face.

If you watch the video you see Flacco pointing to him and it appears he is saying something to the Ref as well. (I doubt he is talking about his Mighty Wings)

  8. I dont get it I thought your ankle counted as down, did they change the rules? Should Ross have been down by contact with his ankle/Knee area touching the ground as demonstrated in this game: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d814828c9/Austin-down-by-ankle

I really don't see how these things can be reviewed by the ref under the hood and "New York" and be completely missed unless there is some conspiracy or they just dont care to know and follow the rules.

  9. All of the games we lost we could have won if 1 or 2 calls by the refs went the other way. Week 1, call the PI in the end zone that ended with an interception. Week 2 don't call the PI and we get the interception to win the game. Browns game, don't call the Roughing the passer and we get the interception.

We haven't lost by much each game even though we are completely banged up on both sides of the ball. We have a chance to win the next 10 games but we need a little luck from the Football Gods.
