  1. The sad truth is that the Browns have a much free bigger cap space than we do, so it seems unlikely that there could be a deal we could afford and they couldn't. And I'm also quite sure they wouldn't be too keen on the idea of losing one of their top players to a division rival... But I agree in that it would be great.
  2. Monroe's first task: fire agent and hire Albert's How on earth has he made that deal with the Dolphins? Almsot 2 million pery year more for a LT most experts deem worse than Monroe...
  3. The typical case of "who should we believe": another source said McClain's return is not imminent at best... I guess the real situation is that he said he's thinking about returning - without mentioning any special time frame. We don't yet know how deep his desire to return is, we don't know how much his mind has cleared, we don't know how much he's in shape... Surely, we could use a healthy McClain... but I guess we should just wait and see before starting to hope.
  4. I'd be delighted to see Jacoby back.
  5. Well, this latest configuration definitely sounds to be of the "too good to be true" category... But hey. We'll see. bio
  6. The good thing about a new name suddenly pop up out of nowhere is that it suggests Hostler isn't approved by at least one guy in said chain of command. And I call this good news because it's Hostler who has by far the least convincing track record. The positive thing that was mentioned again and again of him is that he's thoroughly familiar with the organization, the roster, the language, the system etc... Well, that would, indeed, be a strong point if we were in the middle of a season, or near the start - but whoever will be the new OC will have half a year to familiarize himself with all that. Half a year. I could learn the system, language etc. in half a year, let alone a proven OC. So, IMHO Hostler's strong point is not a strong point at all under the circumstances. I'm not saying he would surely be a bad OC - I'm just saying why risk someone poorly proven if we can go with much more proven guys? But once again, I trust the organization. Whoever they pick I deem will be the best choice. No-one can accuse the guys with hasty decision after all bio
  7. You're right. After all, what has he done for us lately? Five playoff appearances in six seasons? Winning at least one playoff game each time? A combined 71-37 record? Oh, and almost forgot: a Super Bowl win? Yeah, you're right. He should be out first thing tomorrow. bio PS: Somehow the expression "spoiled rotten" springs to mind...
  8. ... and you know this... how? bio
  9. Why would they move Hostler from WR coach to QB coach? That would be a "lateral" move, not a promotion. Plus, by filling a coaching vacancy (which we don't even know the FO wants to fill in the first place), it would the same time create another one, so, we would still have to find a new WR coach... bio
  10. He must be - otherwise he probably wouldn't have even made it to the interview phase... bio
  11. ... and how would you know that? It sounds like pure speculation to me. bio
  12. Could it be that one of the reasons for the Ravens' success is that they don't make knee-jerk decisions - especially with important things like our future OC? bio
  13. What makes YOU think it's hesitancy and not due diligence and thoroughness? Why assume the negative sooner than the positive? bio
  14. What makes you think you know who to interview better than anybody in the organization? I think even the last ballboy has more info than we, outside fans do... bio
  15. By a "lack of strong personality" I more referred to not being an outspoken, outwards kind of guy - think of "not like Rex Ryan" Cameron wasn't like that - that's what I wanted to say. bio
  16. OK, then please don't present your belief as a fact. you believe in whatever you want to, that's fine. But they are not facts. bio
  17. First, his name is Jim Hostler. Second, do you have some official info, or are you simply trying to present your assumption as a fact? bio
  18. What I'm afraid a little more is that the "usual" Ravens-selecting philosophy prevails, and we'll go for the experience and a kind of lack of a strong personality - and take Childress. He's the one that embodies the most the kinds of coordinators we've had since Rex Ryan and maybe Pagano: never a real strong voice, never a young one that personifies energy and youth and change... I'd be surprised if Ozzie picked the young Shanahan. He almost always goes for experienced older wolves. The last time it didn't happen so was when they picked Harbaugh. Not one young, upcoming coach as a coordinator since then... Mattison, Cameron, Pagano, Caldwell, Pees - all of the mid/older generation. I'm not saying being middle aged or older is automatically a bad thing for a coordinator, and I can understand how and why Ozzie values experience so much - but especially with the O, where agility, energy, aggressiveness is a basic pillar, it would seem absolutely logical to try the young ones... And Shanahan (34) is almost 15 years younger than the next youngest candidate, Hostler (47)... bio
  19. I'm not sure we should draw conclusions based on a few games. bio
  20. Yeah, it's often funny how everybody expects the FO to do one thing and they always do something different bio
  21. Reports say Turner has practically agreed with the Vikes. Dunno how much this is true - but I guess we can safely say he wasn't in our plans for some reason. If we had any serious intentions - or chance - to interview Turner, we would have. bio
  22. Yeah - the key part is to be aware all the time that we have no effect on what Ozzie and Co are doing - we can only wish and hope. So, no matter how hot a favourite Norv Turner was here on the forums, it means nothing for them. ... and that's all right. Why would it? bio
  23. Well, if we aren't pursuing him then it's only logical to assume it is so because we didn't have the intention. It just doesn't go like Ozzie reading the news and going "Oh, shoot, we've missed out on Norv!" If we wanted to interview him, we would have. WHY they didn't want to interview him is another question - one we may never learn the answer to. bio
  24. Yep... But time won't stop... And August is on its way this year, too... :)
