  1. LaRon McClain on twitter: "If I can get back to that place.... Where it all started... God willing" Say what?
  2. I agree. The only FA we may lose that would hurt is Daryl Smith - but you can always replace a LB easier than almost any other position. That said, I hope we can retain Smith, because he's a proven commodity and that's always dear. But, should he decide to walk, that won't break the team, because there are gonna be available LB's out there - provided we don't already have his potential successor in the house... But, once again, let's hope we won't have to replace him in the first place.
  3. "Steve Smith told WFNZ on playing against the Panthers this year: 'Put your goggles on cause there's going to be blood and guts everywhere.'" (source: Aaron Wilson on twitter) So, he knows he's gonna play v. the Panthers next season? Sounds like he already had an idea where he would play next... doesn't it?
  4. I do think we can do both: if we get a veteran slot receiver - like Steve Smith or Edelman, for example - and draft his successor... T%his way we'd have a short term solution and the long term solution's mentor, and also the long term solution...
  5. We have our two starting CB's, and Chykie could be a decent backup - so I don't think we're on the market fro a starting caliber CB (unless ones comes along as a real bargain in the later phases of free agency)
  6. He's a LT - so, I guess he's gonna get LT money somewhere... The Raiders, for example, are looking for a LT after failing to get Saffold. Also, as far as I know, he was a disappointment in Tampa.
  7. I hope it's not a tragedy for you if I still take Ozzie's opinion over yours
  8. Even if we land Steve Smith, he'll likely only be a solution to our slot woes for a couple of seasons. So, even if we get him, I think it could be a good decision to also pick his successor if there's such a guy still available when we're on the clock in the first round. This was we'd have a proven veteran to mentor him...
  9. Yeah, he was probably not in our future plans anyway. Sad, because I really liked the guy last season - but hey, there are casualties every season... And I'm much less sad about losing Ihedigbo (or Corey Graham) than Monroe, Jacoby or Pitta... So, I'm quite a happy camper right now.
  10. If the Broncos are real about trying to snatch Daryl Smith then they are seriously going all-in on the very short term, while Peyton is still in play... I guess they are gonna be in real trouble in about 2-3 seasons... But they're gonna be a heck of a force next season... With or without Smith. Well... hopefully without
  11. BTW, as far as I remember, this was the second time Jacoby took less to be a Raven... Two years ago the Panthers (?) offered more, if I recall that correctly. So, its one more reason to like the guy.
  12. "The Ravens are 3-for-3with retaining their own players." Haha, that's cunning We're 3 of 5 - we lost Corey Graham and Art Jones, right? But the three we kept are much more important than the two we lost. i agree on that.
  13. Maybe because the older one is better?
  14. Edelman had one good season so far... Even Lee Evans had more - and we all know how that panned out...
  15. You're absolutely right! The whole FO should be fired and humiliated! And we should get every single UFA in the first day of free agency! Man... This has been the busiest start of free agency for the Ravens in a very long while... But you're right, they're doing nothing!
  16. He is the prototypical high risk-high reward type of deal. His talent and ability to deliver is not a question - he's proven that. but he's also proven that his ego just gets the better of him at times - and that can be a two-edged sword. All in all, I guess he could be a good addition. Something tells me the Pats are gonna reach out for him too though. High risk-high reward type players are their speciality (Haynesworth, Stallworth, Ochocinco, Talib, Amendola, Blunt... to name but a few).
  17. The figure on Jacoby's deal makes it certain he's not brought back as a #2 target. Clearly no higher than #3, possibly lower. You don't get a veteran #2 wideout for 3.5 million per year - especially with the return prowess of Jacoby...
  18. Oh boy... so far we've kept two UFA's everyone took for granted would leave - Monroe and Jacoby. Can't recall the last time such thing happened... Usually we lose all the UFA's we're projected to lose... Art Jones is gone, we may still lose Corey Graham (let's hope we won't) - but still this is shaping out much better than expected.
  19. Jacoby to Baltimore. Trump that
  20. That might only be the base salary? Other sums might be involved? Things like that can happen.
  21. If the Jacoby-deal becomes official, Im calling it the best off-season I've ever witnessed... before the draft and other acquisitions even happen.
  22. Yeah, I know they are subject to the cap limit too - and I meant it more as a nod of acknowledgment towards the Broncos FO for making it possible... Give credit where credit is due - the Broncos FO have been doing some terrific job ever since drafting that certain QB in the first round a couple of drafts ago (I still wouldn't trade them for Ozzie, no way ;D)
  23. Without intending to be negative, I guess you should really get familiar with the way Ozzie usually handles free agency. The Ravens usually appear in the rumours much, much less tahn now, in the opening days. Since our cap space is usually severly limited - due to haveing a good roster with quite some expensive plaers on it - we have no chance of landing any of the Big Name free agents - they are all way too expensive for us. So, hate to break it to you, but you better get used to it: the first wave of free agency is almost always very, VERY quiet for the Ravens.
  24. A bit OFF - but have the Broncos beeen granted exemption from the cap limit or what??? They have grabbed Talib on a "mega-deal", landed TJ. Ward and now DeMarcus Ware... The heck? Super Bowl teams' rosters are usually ransacked and looted the following summer, not muscled up even more...
  25. McCluster's been signed by the Titans, so that ship has left the harbor.
