  1. "the legendary Ravens linebacker was basically a wrestler in football pads." ... with the notable difference that Ray was never a fake.
  2. No, Michael, it weasn't the movie that hurt yolur career. It was you career motto: "Offside. Offense, number 75. Five yard penalty." that hurt your career big time.
  3. Sounds like the most logical decision. Messing with the sleep cycle - coupled with potential sudden climate changes - can do much more damage than one might think so...
  4. Anyone knows if the guy has any kick returning history? That would be a huge plus on his side.
  5. Before anyone starts to panic about Perriman's drops, just remember: Torrey reportedly dropped an awful lot of passes - with easier ones amond them - during his camp. And that was the big camp, in August, not the minicamp. And then look what happened to him...
  6. Months before the camp and pre-season, I don't think it would be wise to put him on top of the depth chart right away. He'll have more than enough chance to prove he belongs there until Week#1 and here's hoping he will - but to put him ahead of Steve Smith right away... I guess that's a tad premature at this point. That said, we all hope Perriman proves to be what we all hope he will, don't we?
  7. It's really special how something bad can turn out to be a blessing in disguise in the NFL... how Rashaad Melvin, for example might have seen his chances last season - being on the PS of the lowly Buccanners (sorry, Bucs fans, but come on...) - and then ending up starting in the divisonal in the playoffs... or how this Means guy might see his journey in the NFL bloom with one of the alltime elite sqauds - the Ravens D - after being a member of the Bucs - probably wondering if he ever sees a playoff game other than on TV... I wonder if these two guys talk about that sometimes when they meet in the locker room... Cary Williams, Kamar Aiken - we have a history of making it possible for PS guys to start their actual, playing careers in the NFL. If it's Means Time next, be it. Pass rusher is another position you can't have enough depth of.
  8. Well... not necessarily. The steelers-fan is true, as he admitted to it many times (yeah, nobody's perfect ) But, he picked the Ravens to win the super bowl before the season began, multiple years he last 5-6 seasons, for example... I think it's not the Ravens he doesn't believe in, only Flacco. Also, his firm conviction seems to be is that Roethlisberger belongs in the top-3 in the NFL. Otherwise he's pretty good usually
  9. Just ask him, he'll calculate your chances, to 4 decimals
  10. Exactly. People often like to forget how precious active roster spots are during the season.
  11. "ESPN's Field Yates named Baltimore as one of three potential landing spots for the concussion-prone 34-year-old slot receiver." If anything, an ESPN- (or NFL.com-) "analyst" predicting such a thing makes it more unlikely to happen... I'm quite convinced these guys do it like "OK, he's a veteran WR, which rosters need a veteran WR?" - and will forget about all the myriad of other factors that may or do come in when these decisions are made. Need in a certain position is only one of the factors. For these "analysts" it's the only factor.
  12. It's probably in the best interest of the team, so I blame nobody here, but these camp videos are usually pretty non-informative - only showing guys make one brief move, one catch or pass, or doing drills... Kind of makes you yearn for more... But hey, I can understand the organization not wanting to show more. It's business secrets, after all...
  13. Well... there's no place on the 53-man roster for any player who would only play "sparsely" - even if it's Pitta (my favourite current Raven since Heap) - roster palces are like gold duing the season. Only players who can regularly contribute - at special teams if nothing else - have a place there. And Harbaugh would most certainly not put Pitta to ST duties... So, Pitta will wirther be put on the roster and be on the field like there was no injury concern, or be put on the PUP or IR roster. As for the two rookies... TE is a position where even the best rookies usually find it notoriously hard to acclimate for the NFL. Yoiu seldom find rookie TE's having a monster season. Rookie TE's seldom land on the top of the depth charts if it can be avoided. And thats not about the guys - its about the position. Even if both Maxx Williams and Boyle turn out to be the guys Ozzie was hoping when he picked them, it may not be sooner than their sophomore season. Just take a look at Pitta's rookie season, for example... Or last season's undisputed top TE, Ebron. He had a rather forgettable rookie season - and many say it's not because he's a bust or he's not the athlete he was heralded to be - simply TE's typically take time to acclimate in the NFL - while other positions, especially RB and more and more WR produce genuine plug-n-play guys - TE does not. I'm therefore not at all sure it would be fair of us to expect Maxx Williams take on the top TE's dusties right from the start - I would even say not this season. Not because I don't trust him or think he cant be our Next Big Weapon - but he may need time for that - just like new TE's typically do in the NFL.
  14. "Don't Forget About Rookie TE Nick Boyle" Why, Ryan, who was forgetting about him?
  15. Yep, no wonder O-linemen seldom get tags.
  16. Well, I must admit I'm not following his personal life, so you might easily be true. .. and, to be totally honest, I don't see him as a coach either - I guess he's gonna go on with his movie making carreer once he hangs up his cleats.
  17. I read a couple of weeks back something like third of the NFL-players go bankrupt within three years after getting out of the league... So yes, Forsett's attitude makes perfect sense.
  18. Yeah, this we've been asking for some time now - just about every pre-season. There have been guesses, and some of the patches are more or less straightforward (super bowl titles or appearances, playoff-appearances, championship games etc...) - but what all of them mean... it's never been clarified, as far as I know.
  19. I can't really imagine a universe in which Sizzle wouldn't make a great coach.
  20. Now, that would be quite a... (puts on sunglasses)... coalition.
  21. When are you gonna just give up?
  22. I don't think we should neglect a free agent just because his wife said something rude about Ray Lewis years ago (for which she later apologized). That said, I don't think Welker would be worth as much to Ozzie as some other teams will offer him - if he's still good enough to play at all. He'd definitely be good as a quality backup and is a proven returner - but he'll get better offers elswhere, even if his injury history is somewhat troubling (and might be the sole reason he's not yet back in Foxboro...)
  23. Some will never stop doing that.
