  1. "If Wright is out, Young, Jerraud Powers and Will Davis could see more snaps." Will Davis no more.
  2. “Do these guys have a legitimate point or are they just bitter old Ravens who never beat Ben in a big game? I lean hard toward the latter.” Oh, Mr. Joe Starkey... OK, let's go there: 1.) EVERY game is a big game in the NFL; 2.) Especially the Ravens v. Steelers games. 3.) Mr. Starkey, you seem to have forgotten about the playoff game 2 seasons ago... in Pittsburgh... Or even that does not count as a "big game" for you?
  3. Isn't "Pierce" the perfect name for a NT? :)
  4. And I hear Norv Turner has resigned as OC for the Vikings...
  5. I know things can turn around iun the NFL quicker than a Wallace-route, but... if there is no radical change to how we play, the only game I see us winning here is the Browns game... And not even that very comfortably... The steelers and Cowboys are way ahead of us at the moment. They donb't even have to bring their A game to be better than what we've been showing lately, and beat us. The Bengals are much better than what their current records would indicate. I've seen most of their games. Their O is still solid, and Green is as good as ever... As for the Dolphins... they are on the rise. If we play v them like we played the last 3 times, it's gonna be a tossup game at best... This is all assuming our O game isn't improving. If it does, anything's possible.
  6. "While Williams will likely finish out his rookie contract in Baltimore, there will still be a very real question as to whether the Ravens can pay him enough to keep him in the purple and black beyond 2016." Are we really going through that every single season? There's a player every season who's gonna be an UFA and we all know we won't be able to keep hium, because he's gonna be well outside our price range. That was the case with Grubbs, Ellerbe, McPhee, Torrey Smith and Osemele. And this is gonna be the same with Brandon Williams. He's gonna be way, way outside our price range. Ergo, trading him now would, indeed - proivded a third-round pick or better is what we get for him - be the most beneficial decision. Unfortunately, it's not happening. It'll be great to have him for the rest of the season - but we'll get less for him in the summer.
  7. Also, the defensive productrion of these teams' opponents may factror in - making it even less of a surprise.
  8. Call me when these guys impress in real games. That is kind of what counts.
  9. Agree. Take a look at the Ravens Draft picks going back to 2009. A handful of IMPACT PLAYERS(at best) numerous ROSTER FILLERS. Like with just about every other organization...
  10. When Harbaugh fired Trestman, he said he didn't like where the O was and didn't feel things would be getting better if Trestman stayed. Well... I don't think anybody likes where the whole Ravens team is right now, and I don't think we feel it's looking like it's gonna get any better... In fact, it's going like the games themselves usually go this season: The Ravens starting strong, then fade, and things go south faster than a Flacco-bomb... So...?
  11. "Packers just went for it on 4th-and-goal from the 1 vs. Bears. Ran it and stopped just short. See, the Ravens aren't the only ones." Ryan, what exactly are you trying to prove with this? How does the Packers' decision change anything?
  12. Before many more of you bite on the bait: this araveninwaconc guy has little over 30 posts on this site, almost exclusively negative... I'm not saying he's a troll, because apparently on this site you are not always allowed to call a duck a duck - but he's doing his best to appear like one, that's for sure.
  13. The moral of ther week: if you have a 120-mil QB, but try to guard him with an O-line so shallow in depth that one or two injuries happen and it ceases to be an O-line, is like buying the newest Ferrari and then parking it on the street in a bad neighborhood...
  14. You can have the most explosive running back in NFL history, if you don't have an O-line that can create holes and running lanes for him...
  15. As long as the O-line (or, in the Ravens' case, the five guys who line up where the O-line has to) doesn't give our QB enough time for deep bombs, Mallett is about just as serviceable as Flacco. He can toss checkdowns and mid-range passes too - and he's less rattled than Flacco at the moment. And, before anyone gets it wrong: it's not about Flacco... it's about our "O-line". With the one we currently have we could have Time Tebow under center and still be at 3-2.
  16. "Here's what John Harbaugh and the Ravens need to do to avoid their first four-game losing streak." Beat the Jets. Simple as that ;)
  17. I don't think we should fool ourselves thiunking that either Elam or Davis will make their respective units considerably better - if at all. That may be a tough roster decision, but one that 's probably not gonna really factor in the production of the team going forward.
  18. Well, if things go on the way they've been, they won't pick ahead of us the next time
  19. One more notion: maybe Harbaugh should take a deep look into how good QB-WR couples keep torching their opponents - us, for example... Manning to Beckham... Dalton to Green... Stafford to Megatron... Romo to Bryant... Ryan to Julio Jones... Roethlisberger to Brown... Rodgers to anyone... If you've got a QB who can toss the ball accurately enough downfield and a wR who's grown to him, and can keep both on the field, it's half the success. When we had it (McNair then Flacco to Mason, the Flacco to Boldin and Torreey Smith), we were successful. Without it, we are not...
  20. I've long had the feeling that the Ravens brass should at last find scouts who are good WR-talent evaluators. The best WR Ozzie picked in 20 years was Torrey Smith. And he wasn't good enough to warrant a second contract. I think that says it all.
  21. It was a bad call - by Harbaugh's own definition. He said many times: if iot works, it was a good call - if it doesn't, it was a bad call. This one didn't work. Ergo, Harbaugh himself says it was a bad call.
  22. Just how do you "fix" soimething like this in a week or two? I guess there's just no magical quick fix...
  23. If he does what he did in the camp, he'll be a good addition.
  24. You'll probably have to stash your readiness for a good while (=barring an injury). Luckily...
  25. Why stop there? You could set the bar even lower. Why not expecting us to lose out? And then go 0-16 the next season?
