Flacco’s 2012 championship run, in which he threw 11 touchdowns to zero interceptions in route to the Super Bowl XLVII MVP, proved what Flacco is capable of.
that is whats called an anomaly, i wouldnt bank on it occurring again. im grateful for witnessing that once in a lifetime anomaly.
if he doesnt want to resign, id rather have Alex Lewis at RT. two young bookends on the Oline with Stanley and Lewis. we can go look for a left guard afterwards in draft or FA
what my gut tells me? they'll trade back to get more picks, and blow another recent draft
the only FA that left earning their new contract was KO. soon rest of the league will catch on and learn not to overpay for Ravens scraps. i can understand players wanting to earn/steal bigger contracts elsewhere. but sometimes success isnt measured by $s, certain players thrived in the Ravens scheme and fizzled once they left.
take ILB Foster in the 1st if he drops to 16th, then go DB rounds 2 and 3. can add some depth on pass rush and maybe WR in later rounds.
as amazing as it was to see Pitta return from 2 major hip injuries, he is not a long term solution for TE. we all appreciate what he was able to contribute over the years, but its time to find a new answer. currently there are just a bunch of clowns and over the hill guys in the TE meeting room. Ozzie can stock the roster up with as many choir boy, good solid character types all he wants. but its time to reload with some football players with attitude. no team in the league fears the ravens any longer, no one.
Sign Juice and Guy. Let Williams and Wagner walk if they're outside the ball park of fair pay for their play. Can't overpay the big ticket players. Can afford to overpay Juice if need be because FB contracts are not astronomical anyway unless of course his agent decided to make Juice a TE or a RB. Then even he needs to walk.
Fullbacks still fall under the RB designation as far as franchise tag is considered.
How many times do we hear that Joe throws a 'really nice' deep ball (Teddy Bruschi above) when he under throws the WR almost every time? Last year (most years...would love to see stats), sans the Dolphins game, it seemed like 90% of his throws were low or behind the receiver...even the check down passes were low. The Ravens need playmakers. However, it would make it a lot easier for the FO to focus on other positions if Joe would get the ball in our current WRs hands, in stride.
i've always said Joe throws a nice moonball. seems like he is trying to fire a rocket to the moon, only to watch it drift and float fizzling out of fuel.
our TE group talent? wide as an ocean, deep as a bucket
Our problem is our development with our WR's. We can never develop receivers which is why we always have to rely on bringing in a aging vet that has something "left in the tank". Bring in coaches that is know for their development of receivers. The route running for a lot of our guys is horrible. When you see guys like AB, Julio, OBJ and even Edelman, their route running is really good. I just think the coaching is mediocre in that department. It's been that way for a long time.
agreed, thats why with the most recent coaching "shakeup" i was disappointed in seeing Bobby Engram not mentioned. he must have some compromising photos of ozzie and harbs or something to keep his job secured
no changes at WR coach still... Engram scrapes by again. how can our WRs consistently be so terrible? seems our WRs are literally playing checkers to other teams' chess. our WRs aside from the veterans we rely too much on, show such poor fundamentals. notice how rarely other teams scramble to pick up our cut/released WRs?
please stop calling the TE group strong and deep. it may be wide, but its extremely shallow and fragile
Gostskowski could have ended that game in regulation with a winning free FG attempt. i was expecting Bill to show off how much smarter he is than the avg joe.
restocking the cupboard isnt always the best idea if you are wait until what you are restocking has to expire. sometimes i just wish the Ravens would let young players be baptized by fire. we hang onto older players far too long now, perhaps its loyalty. i prefer a winning brand of football, its a business and i am an unhappy consumer. it amazes me to see how many young defensive players Atlanta has starting this year as rookies or 2nd yr pros. you could see the improvement and progression of the Falcons defense as the season went on. Ravens D seemed to have plateau mid season then spiral downward, somehow managing to hold onto a top 5 unit participation award
having quantity is not quality. please stop saying we are DEEP at TE. they are JAGs(Just Another Guy) for minicamp. we need to get younger and more talented in all phases of the team. If Howard is the BAP at 16th, so be it.
I created a "playmaker" thread months ago and got crushed. Not BR puts it up and everybody is all over it lmao.
same, i've been clamoring for more playmakers for a while now on these comment boards. well better late than never i suppose. lets hope we can find some in the draft.
i wish they had a kicking contest in the skills challenge they brought back for the pro bowl weekend. the pro bowl itself is just zzzzzzzzzz. would love to see them bring back more skill challenges
how is Engram still the WR coach?
when your team's Kicking unit, Wolfpack, outshines and has a cooler nickname than any other group on the team.... its gonna be another long offseason
Gotta get another RB 6ft 230-240 lbs like Willis McGahee and B. Pierce! I like whom we have now but in the draft gotta get another big back because Willis was a beast and Pierce was rite on track but we all know how that ended! I just don't want to wear our backs out when we have all this fire power at WR!
what is this firepower at WR you speak of???
i see lots of fingers being pointed around in the article, but they are skipping a big Juan if you ask me....
13 of the past 14 Super Bowls featured either Brady, Manning, or Ben.... that doesnt put Flacco in that company, it makes him more of an anomaly 1 of 14!
sometimes the most squeaky clean characters have some of the dirtiest secrets hiding. knowing a player has some dirty laundry aired out in public isnt necessarily a bad thing. if he is willing to improve himself outside of football, its worth the risk extending a 2nd chance to him
Ravens are as good at drafting WRs, as the Browns are picking QBs

we draft WRs about as well as Cleveland does QBs
