I watched Deadbeat at Dawn yesterday. It's one of the worst yet most hilarious movies I've ever seen. No acting to be found at all. A lot of useless cursing and the fight/death scenes were so over-the-top I couldn't stop laughing. It reminded me of The Warriors only without the whole fugitive gang aspect. And, oddly enough, the gang the main character was in was called The Ravens.

Bout to get Deadbeat at Dawn from Netflix. Saw the preview. Looked pret-ty cheesy. Lookin forward to it.

Saw Parker last night with my Dad. Pretty good action as usual for a Statham film, but I do have two complaints. J. Lo's character seemed pointless. I just don't understand why they had her in there. I thought they were gonna do more with her and then it just ended. And also, Statham attempted a Texas accent and it was horrible. I usually hold British actors in high regard due to their ability to pull off American accents time after time, but his was terrible. Other than that, it was a lot of good action. Now for the previews. The worst one in my opinion was the Evil Dead remake. I'd rather see the new Die Hard and G.I. Joe Retaliation back to back as a double feature than to go see Evil Dead. I saw the uncensored version for mature audiences only. I'm 26 going on 27 in March and even I thought the gore was over-the-top. In my opinion (which I know doesn't count on this thread) it looks like a snuff film that only a serial killer could enjoy. I love the original because Bruce Campbell provided great comic relief. This just looks like a lot of blood-vomiting over-the-top gore. Among all the things they could ban, they choose to let movies like this and Saw slide. There's art and then there's snuff. This falls in the latter category.

So as predicted, Resident Evil Retribution was horrible. Barry looked nothing like he should have. The guy they casted for Leon was close enough and he reminded me of a younger, shorter Dolph Lundgren. I honestly don't understand why the game and movie series had to deviate from just slow-walking zombies. All these monsters and running zombies are laughable.

Resident Evil: Retribution is next on Netflix. I really hate this movie series, but I keep watching them just to see if they'll ever end. It's the same with the game's series. It's all about action and conspiracy now instead of horror and suspense.

Just watched Lawless. Tom Hardy was beast. I think it was good for Shia Labeouf to get out of his all over the place role for once. Also watched Gods and Generals Monday morning and I must say it was quite accurate. Too many big speeches for my liking though. Just finished a biography on Stonewall by Byron Farwell. The one myth they fell for was his love for lemons/lemonade. And they showed the slaughter of the Union soldiers in the scene for the Battle of Fredericksburg, but they didn't show how they almost got through Jackson's line of defense.

My cousin saw Zero Dark thirty last night. Here's the text he sent me: "You were right zero dark thirty sucked" another one said "it was pretty terrible. 3 hours long almost" I told him he could go with the cheaper SEAL Team 6 but that its release date was suspicious and its Nat Geo which is run by Weinstein Company. He said he was so turned off from the cinema versions that he'd rather read the book No Easy Day written by an actual SEAL. I'm just staying away from it cause Katherine Bigelow just bores me and I saw enough movies directed by women in my Women Filmmaker class. I'll just read the books written by those who were there.

Watched That's My Boy after the extremely awesome Ravens win. That movie was so whacked and raunchy. I'll give it a 3.5 or 4 out of 5. Definitely had its moments, but so many parts just had me asking "Why?" So wrong and gross, but still pretty funny moments. Will Forte and Vanilla Ice were pretty hilarious. And I did laugh at Rex Ryan. I usually have the same reaction after we play the Jets. I have Lawless next on my Netflix queue.

Yeah neither did the dangling blue bleeeep. Killed it for me. That movie ruined Billy Crudup in my opinion, but he redeemed himself in The Way. And I'm not too big on the concepts of Alex Cross and Jack Reacher, but I'd probably see Jack Reacher before Alex Cross. After seeing the trailer for movies like Madea, it's kinda impossible to take Tyler Perry seriously. I just watched the new Dredd on BR. I liked it a lot more than the Stallone one. I didn't mind the Stallone version much, but Urban was much more BA. And once again he's proof that British actors can own the American accent. I have That's My Boy on the way from Netflix. I heard it's real raunchy, but I'm not expecting much due to Sandler's recent movies. I mainly wanted to give it a chance because of Samberg.

I just don't watch Oscars or any of those Hollywood award shows. If a critic says a movie suck, I usually end up seeing it because it's a man's movie. If they praise it, I don't bother because it makes me think and it's too long. I watch enough movies with intricate plots at University of Maryland and guess what? They're horrible. Dance Girl Dance, Christopher Strong, Ballad of Little Jo. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Give me a movie with cheesy one liners and a high body count over a long artistic movie any day of the week. I just watched Captain America for like the 30th time today and it's still great. That and Avengers are the way super hero movies should be made. Nolan needs to take a lesson from them when it comes to comic relief. I loved Dark Knight Rises. Bane sounded like a cross between Sean Connery and Satan, but the comic relief was awful as always "You got the wrong animal!" Someone get me my barf bag.

I was unfortunate enough to watch Amazing Spider-Man tonight. I loved the cartoon show and the comics, but I think that's one super hero that is just not meant for the big screen. McGuire was terrible and this British actor isn't much better. Not even Emma Stone could save it. One of the thing I've always hated about the Spider-Man is the attempt at comic relief. And it left one of the biggest questions unanswered at the end. I won't spoil it for any unfortunate soul who does decide to see it.

watched The Watch with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn. I know it tanked in theaters, but I still liked it. Very offensive and Billy Crudup was hilarious as the creepy neighbor Paul. I don't know why, but I just laugh at characters who address people by their full name in movies. Like Sam Rockwell in The Sitter. That movie was a little too over-the-top for me, but Sam Rockwell addressing Jonah Hill as "Noah Griffin!" all the time for some reason just made my friend and I laugh. May watch Gods and Generals soon since I'm reading a biography on Stonewall Jackson by Byron Farwell. Even though that movie isn't entirely accurate. They bought into the myth of Jackson being addicted to lemons. I think what most people think of as boring or horrible movies, I tend to love. I don't go for the academy award winners often. I think Ridley Scott should be doing Zero Dark Thirty. I just think he'd portray the troops better than Bigelow. From what I've seen in the trailers, the SEALs are laughable. I thought I was done my Women Filmmakers class after December 19th, 2012, but my cousin's pushing me to see one more.

Wanna stay away from ZDT. I thought Hurt Locker was a joke and the preview for that makes me laugh even harder. Besides, January's where movies go to die. I'll see it mainly because my cousin's Black Ops lovin self wants to go see it. Anyways, I watched The Town last night. I thought it was pretty good. Could've had a better ending, but still a pretty good movie. Not a huge Affleck fan, but I loved all the slang used in the film. I was like "Whoa did I just step into a James Cagney movie?" Also thought the gunshot wounds in this were more realistic than most movies. I've seen a few fatal headshot wounds before and they look nothing like most Hollywood movies, but this movie got it down well. I know that's a bit sick, but I like a little realism in my movies.Also watched The Avengers for the first time since I'd seen it in theaters. Forgot how awesome a hero movie that is. Like it better than Nolan's Batman movies. His attempt at comic relief with stupid cop lines is the worst. I feel like one day before he started shooting he got mad at some police officer that pulled him over and decided to make law enforcement look bad in the Batman movies. I just dont get it

Never watched Bronx Tale all the way through, but The Other Guys is hilarious. I love Michael Keyton in that movie.

I may go see Hobbit with my friend, but it's hard to say right now. I have finals next week and two papers to write. One of which is the actual final and the other is an essay which is part of a final. Either way, I'll go see it eventually.

I'll probably go see it myself. Unfortunately I know no women interested in history. Probably end up going to see it with my Dad. It's fitting. I just started reading a Stonewall Jackson biography.

LOL best preview of a movie ever. I'll still see it, but like I said, I have little hope for it. The Walking Dead and Max Brooks do zombies best.

Honestly, I think he's supposed to be looking for a cure which would be a joke. I'll still see it because it does look epic, but the zombies going up the wall is laughable along with the bus. However, I will say I understand the slow-to-fast. First off, it's a hollywood thing. They want the zombies to be scary and they say that cant be scary. Another thing they're gonna do is show the zombies in their Sunday best. They wont have them in their pajamas, hospital gowns or naked like Max Brooks describes it. Also one of the crew of the film said they did "a lot of research"(apparently OUTSIDE of Max Brooks's works) and said they see the zombie hordes moving like a school of fish with corresponds with what I saw in the preview. I liked Tom Savini's take on the zombie apocalypse in the Dawn of the Dead(1979) commentary when he said he thought the military and hunters would be the best off in the apocalypse. Hollywood seems to hate both of those groups. Yeah the bureacracy hurts the military, but I don't think they'd be as bad off as Hollywood portrays. I just know it better be R

Very disappointed by this: Supposed to be slow

Watched Blitz and Ironclad. Both pretty good. Also was a fan of Planes Trains and Automobiles. I was having a bad day when I watched Planes Trains and Automobiles and was in a good mood right after it. John Candy was brilliant. Him and Aykroyd are two of the greatest things to ever come out of Canada.

Might surprise my friend and take him to see Sky Fall next week. He's a huge Bond fan and UMCP is only 10 minutes from him. Planes Trains and Automobiles next on Netflix.

I think it'll be interesting to see what Disney does with that series. Kudos to Lucas for actually being able to hand it over to them. I know those movies are probably like his babies. Wasn't a big fan of the prequel series. Today, I watch Edward Scissorhands and also Poltergeist. Not for the first time of course. Love the creepy lady in Poltergeist. "This house...is clean." lol I have the original The Thing from 1951, but I'm saving it for tomorrow.

Watched some of Predator today. Always a great movie. "Stick around" and "Knock knock" are just two of many great quotes from that movie.
