  1. Saw it Sunday, it was my first 2012 movie. I really enjoyed it. The "found footage" format is getting old, but here it really helped make the scenes where they're discovering their powers feel more real and down to earth. I did feel that the format hurt the climax of the film, as they had to keep cutting to security cameras and stuff like that to keep them on camera, but it still worked and I really liked the movie.
  2. Nope, it was only nommed for sound editing. I was very surprised and annoyed that Albert Brooks didn't get a nom for Supporting Actor,he was great.
  3. Actually, both Hugo and The Artist are among my favorites of the year. I just said The Artist was overrated because it seems to be the front runner to win BP and at the top of a lot of best of lists. Haven't seen Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close yet, but I plan to soon. I liked the novel and I like the director, but the trailers don't look great and it's gotten mixed reviews, so I'm not expecting much. For me, the worst BP nominees are The Help and War Horse. Both extremely overrated and it's disgusting that stuff like Drive ( my favorite of the year), 50/50 (2nd favorite), Warrior and Dragon Tattoo get left off the list and movies like those get on. My actual least favorite of the nominees is Tree Of Life, which was the most boring movie I've seen since the last Mallick movie I saw, but I can at least give that credit for being very well made, and beautifully shot.
  4. My favorite part of Monday's RAW was Cena's angry face. I laugh every time I think of it.
  5. Watched The Artist last night. A little overrated, but I still really enjoyed it. Also watched 50/50 for the 2nd time. Really great movie.
  6. There are exceptions, though I doubt I'll see either of those in theaters unless I'm desperate for something to see. They both look like they'd make decent rentals.
  7. Welcome to January. It's very rare anything decent comes out in this month. Usually the only things I see this time of year are all the limited release Oscar contender movies that are just know making it out here. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close comes out this coming weekend and 2 weeks after that we get The Descendants. I'm hoping Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Artist make it here soon. Having now seen the American and Swedish versions twice each, Fincher's version is better. I like the Swedish version, but it just can't touch the style that Fincher brings to it. It also has an absolutely amazing and crazy opening credits sequence that sets the tone for the film. I will say that Noomi Rapace is excellent as Lisbeth, but Rooney Mara is just as good and she makes the role her own (she doesn't just do a Noomi Rapace impression). You should give it a chance. As for the sequels, I've heard that they are moving forward on them despite the box office not being great (they probably didn't expect it to do much, with it being an extremely hard R and coming out against a bunch of family holiday releases). I just REALLY hope Fincher stays on, if not I'll lose a lot of interest. I haven't watched the Swedish sequels yet but I have read all the books and I enjoyed the 2nd book better than the 1st, and I'd rank the 3rd slightly lower than the first, but they were all good.
  8. Just watched it for the first time tonight. Totally agree. It's great to finally see a good MMA movie.
  9. Finally got around to seeing Hugo tonight, on it's last day at my theater. Excellent movie. Made me feel all sentimental about the art of cinema. Really great use of 3D too, it really helped pull you into the movie.
  10. There needs to be a remake because Americans won't read subtitles. That's just the way it is. I'm just glad that it landed with one of the best directors working today. Looking forward to seeing it.
  11. Originally from Baltimore County, moved to Bristol, VA when I was 12 and am still here. We had the Ravens for about two years before I moved but I wasn't really into football at that time so I've never been to a Ravens game, but I think I'm going to try and go next year. I really want to see Ray Lewis before he retires (which hopefully won't be for a few years, but you never know).
