Starting pitcher Norris was good in the game #1 win today and game #2 tonight is looking good through the 5th.
Two games today against Boston at 1pm and 7pm. The Rays vs. Pirates game should be a pretty good game.
I think the Os are going to be a lot of fun to watch again this year.
It is starting to look pretty good so far after the last minute big additions. Hopefully in ten days the doctor will give the green light to Manny! I am super happy so far.
I saw that on March 5th Manny Machado was finally cleared to do lateral movements and fielded some soft grounders. He seemed to be OK doing so. I know the O's are still hoping that he will be ready for opening day but I think that may be too optimistic. I hope he makes a complete recovery and they take it slow, because I would love him to have zero setbacks. He is a special player.
Even my wife, who is a diehard Pirates fan loves Manny. She compares his value to Andrew McCutchen, so I have to respect her for that.
Don't worry, I am sure if he wasn't ready, he would not be able to get through our tough physical lol
LOL, I know because of HIPA we will never find out but I wonder if they really found anything wrong with Balfour or just got cold feet with their deal.
I was a little surprised by the Johan Santana signing. I understand that he was a past beast with his two Cy Young's but missing two of the last three seasons with not one but two major left shoulder surgeries. I have to go back and look but I thought I read that he was only hitting 80 mph on the radar, but maybe he was just cleared to throw. I guess we will see what he can do in the minors. The contract is written so we can get out with limited money if he does not make it up to the O's roster by a certain point so I guess we do not have that much to lose.
Norris and then Gausman. Both with solid outings.
Thanks, our starting pitching are giving us some decent outings against opponents starters. So far, looking good O's!
Anyone know who started today against the Twins?
Yeah Monroe isn't coming back
That actually depresses me. I hope you are wrong.
I think Boston really wanted that first win leaving their starters in so long.
Well we scored some runs today, starting pitching look pretty good. I am happy so far.
The Blue Jays are off to a good start, hopefully we will change that today at 1pm ![]()
Oh, I just read that their public relations executive Monica Barlow lost her fight with cancer at 36. May God bless her family during this difficult time.
Was nice to start off with a win today, even if it is otherwise a sad day for the Os.
I saw that we won and heard Tillman looked great but what happened to make it a sad day? I pray there was no major injury!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really think that Hunter is going to be fine. He's been very solid since he's gone to the bullpen and has a ton more velocity as well. IMO I think they weighed out the production they'd get from a Johnson or Balfour and the money that they'd have to spend vs saving it and getting the same production out of Hunter..and putting that saved money into grabbing a starter and another bat..which they did.
I have a feeling that Hunter is going to have plenty of 2 and 3 run leads to work with.
I certainly agree that having Jimenez and Cruz signed is super exciting. I think you may be right about Hunter, and in my book Johnson had to go, but I think Balfour still had something to prove and I did believe he was healed. I would be more comfortable having him to close, but I won't complain if Hunter can do the job and we save a little money in the process. I am hoping that our treatment of Balfour did not give the O's too much of a black eye, but I think that storm is starting to blow over. I also hope that Yoon was a gem pickup, but I am not certain that being a star in Korea equates to being a star in MLB, however I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Yeah Tommy is guaranteed to give up a couple 9th inning homers
I wish we would have kept Balfour. I am still worried about not having a proven closer.
I just hope they're as much fun to watch as last year. Win or lose, they generally kept it interesting through the whole game.
True, I just hope we find a good closer. It hurt losing all those games last year when Johnson came in.
I'm so freaking pumped. Can't freaking wait. Chris freaking Davis.
I like your enthusiasm. I really hope this is our year. I really love it when the O's are competitive with the high dollar teams like the Yankees and Red Sox.
Any hotrodders on here into the Velocity channel? I love Graveyard Carz.
Cruz is an Oriole . https://www.csnphilly.com/article/report-orioles-and-nelson-cruz-agree-one-year-8-million-contract-0
I'm mixed on it... I want to win, I also want to be a classy org... Steriod guy.. can he hit for power without them? If he can, the lineup is scary.
I agree but we really did needed a big bat in the lineup and if he can put up some decent numbers, it should really help us. In a division with the Yankees and Red Sox it is hard to not take a few risks to help improve the team. We were not going to overtake them without adding a few good players. With that said, I know you can become like Toronto if your not careful, but I like that we are giving it a shot.
mlbdailydish.com is reporting that not only are we close with Cruz the O's may add pitcher Ervin Santana. I guess giving up another draft pick for another proven arm is ok with me. We could always use more pitching. Maybe the O's have learned from Ozzie, picking up free agents just before the start of the season, whose price has come down a lot from what they originally wanted. I feel now like maybe I judged the O's off-season too early. Go O's!!!
O's close to singing Cruz. Excited that we're working on making more moves.
That's what I am talking about! Better late than never............GO O's!!!
Jimenez! Yes, finally! Now that is what I am talking about. If we would not have kicked Balfour to the curb, I would be super psyched! Maybe we can still pick up a decent closer and I will then give the O's full credit for legitimately trying to compete in the division. I am getting happier, go O's!
Great...Another Yankee retirement tour...Start shedding the tears.
The guy is a decent player, and for all the years he gave to the Yankees, I understand why they love him in New York. Outside of New York, I don't think people are making a huge deal of this. The guy is getting up in years, so his retirement was soon to be expected. Again, Jeter is a good player, especially in the post season - however he is not a dominant player. I am not going out of my way to buy tickets to see him one last time on the field.

Hopefully today can be sweet too, we play the Pirates, right now also a 7-2 team, in Sarasota at 1pm. I hate losing to them and still hold a grudge over 1971 and 1979. I even hate the song "We Are Family" because of that team. If we win we can have bragging rights in the Grapefruit league tonight.
