After all the anticipation and announcements made to draft "PLAYMAKERS" and the money we spend scouting players and evaluating talent, we seem to always find the Matt Elams of the world, I think "safe pick" must resonate instead of finding difference makers with our front office these days, just keep getting the same ol same ol guys, and at best 8-8, this pick speaks of mediocracy.

Dude, I am freakin jacked about this draft so far! Its time to get back to playing Ravens football, where we beat the snot out of you, and win 13-6! See youtube The need is still on offense, however the defensive picks fell our way. We may still be 1-2 years away, or not, but at least our defense will finally be set. I would love to see a bell cow running back chew up clock and defenses to help everybody on both sides of the ball, but that has to be a philosophical decision going forward. I thought we were way too pass happy last year, and never fully committed to the run game, and maybe its because our offensive brain trust has never relied on a strong running game in the past, in favor of passing to backs, ie. Priest Holmes or LT.

Obviously this answer may vary depending on position, so to clarify, lets go Position, then Top Criteria this position player must posess in your opinion. I am going to go first, I will say if we go Inside linebacker, my top criteria would be HEART, Speed, and instincts. I have seen a lot of tall athletic linebackers over the years, that had the height, athleticizm, and the look, but lacked the heart to dominate. Undersized backers like our own Ray Ray, even Derek Brooks, that had heart and desire, which trumped everything else.

I like the pick. I wanted a DE or CB, because we keep losing games in the 4th quarter. I honestly would take another cb if its the bpa. A good CB is one of the most valuable commodities in the nfl, and garners huge cap space on a contract, but if you can draft a good one like we did here, and get a good starter, it frees up money to buy other fa positions of need, which Ozzie gets, so I am all for it.
